It's sad, you would think he'd know better by now.
Crack/cocaine I'm guessing? the article doesn't say.
I was watching L.O.X.'s 'Bout Shit yesterday and said to myself how healthy he looks. Hopefully, the overdose scares him off of the heavy drugs like it did to Eminem.
Lastest news is that he is breathing on his own. I'm actually surprised he has made it this long. Rappers must have one of the shortest life expectancy.
more news, conflicting statements about his health

the health update is below the motorcycle gag tribute news in the article
Out here at White Plains Hospital and the love out here for D.M.X. is crazy. I am hearing an assortment of songs from his first three albums every time a vehicle passes by. All various sorts of people out here praying for D.M.X., soccer moms, gangsters/thugs, business people, so many people from all walks of life love his music. Still holding on strong for him, not accepting any news until he is officially declared dead. All love up
smfh @ doing dumb shit like this at that age. You're supposed to know better by that time.
Great to hear you are there and showing support.
Some vids in this new update showing people outside the hospital, praying, talking, chanting along to X songs

Minimal brain activity for several days I think means he's basically out of here. It would take a miracle at this point.
Yeah, D.M.X. is about to save Def Jam again. Imagine how much money they are making from streams right now, even the handful of people who actually still will cop c.d.'s from F.Y.E. I see on Twitter lots of people are like, "I never knew his name stood for Dark Man X"
^ For sure. I think MF Doom streams spiked by like 800% or something this year.

A lot of people on twitter were talking about how DMX first smoked crack at 14. In a way it's surprising he made it this far.
Made me check out the price for Year of the Dog ... Again, the only cd of his I don't have.
$75 on Amazon.nl lol whut
I remember in 2012 peddling my cd collection to specialty music & book shops to fund my trip to NZ and owners were telling me 'don't even come back in with hiphop, there's no resell market for cds anymore, let alone hiphop'
how do people not know what DMX stands for or what the inspiration for the name was? well I guess maybe if you only know him as a singles artist

Just like Tmz. Both glorified gossip hubs.
I do not know why people are so eager to be first to announce somebody's death. They are worse than those people that post "first" on YouTube comments.. Mad people on Twitter like Luenell and others are like, "Sorry for the wrong post, D.M.X. is not dead yet." Like, just wait for an official announcement from the family. You would think that they would learn from Claudia Jordan yesterday.
Well it's incredibly sad but he has brought this on himself unfortanetely. One of my fav rappers, Flesh of my Flesh was one of the first albums I bought.
Seems like at the moment doctors are just waiting for the families permission to take him off life support.
Yeah, that seems to be the case. I know that realistically and scientifically, it is supposed to be impossible, but I am hoping for a modern day miracle.. Although, if that did happen somehow, he would not be the same and pretty much need constant care 24/7/365.
Rest in peace. Hiphopdx is reporting X has passed away. I didn't feel like reading the article so I didn't include the link to it.
Man, he brought personality to the game. I will definitely miss him. I remember living in Germany and my London buddy Ade gifting me a dubbed tape of most tracks off 'It's dark and hell is hot'. The album had been out for a few months. I played that tape to death. Only the soft(er) tracks were missing. As soon as I moved back home I bought the album.
Love is love. Rest well X.
tribute thread in Hip-Hop Shop for you to post your fav songs and mixes :

I guess you were only missing How's It Going Down, because that is the closest thing there is to a soft song on that album, ha ha.
If anything good can come out of this, it is that people are going to start dumping off their D.M.X. merchandise now, so hopefully I can finally find that old D.M.X. poster I used to have as a teenager that I have been searching on eBay for forever.
It was a promotional poster for the Get At Me Dog single.
Well what can I say. R.I.P. Hope he is finally truly at peace.
Damn, he really had a rough upbringing which contributed to his substance abuse. Following his career you could easily recognize his struggle. I think I could say he was really was one of a kind.
D.M.X. overdosed one year ago today. The beginning of his final days
I wish I got to meet him, he use to hang out at this dive bar in Hasting-on-hudson, NY which is right next to Yonkers. My husband's friends would catch him there on a rare occasion and I'd get super jealous, because we would occasionally go there and hear about how he was there the night before.
Yeah, Hastings On Hudson is very beautiful. Bronxville and Scarsdale are nice also
It sucks you can't actually swim in the river, it's so polluted.
For real, Ruck tweeted the night before he died that he ate a fish he caught in Hudson River and he is still alive and died the next day. I am certain it was damn fish that killed him.
Gross, I would never eat anything out of that river. It's got years and years of hazardous chemicals and metals that the old factories use to dump into it. Hastings specifically is the worst area out of all the other river towns. They've tried cleaning up but it's just much polluted sediment in the ground that it's nearly impossible. Such a shame cause it's nice looking out on it, especially in the summer, makes you want to jump into it but you can't. It's crazy ppl fish there and actually eat the fish. Makes me cringe.
I introduced DMX to somebody last year. They had never really listened to him before. Next thing I hear he is in the hospital. I introduce Black Rob, same story.
Was really rooting for DMX to get back into shape. You could see he was tormented, and with all the people sharing stories about how he was actually struggling and had a huge heart, I grew more fond of him. He was not the character MTV News made him out to be at the end of the 90's, early 2000's.
Must have been hell for Swizz to finalize that last album. It is a nice piece of work, but it does feel like they finished something which still needed 25% more input from X.
Couple of months ago I read about this Gospel album DMX did, that was never released. He was grinding hard and doing crack while recording this. Some guy is supposed to have this, and is shopping around. Am really interested in hearing that one. Just pray to god it won't end up as some dumb NFT.
Doesn't Dame Grease have an X album to release as well?
