Is there anybody who would like to explain all the different styles of Holocaust to me, because I sort of lost it after Warcloud went to Robotank and we got this whole slew of official or unofficial releases. Which releases would belong to which, and what are cornerstones of every style?

That all said, he was one of the if not the most colorful Wu-Fam addition at the end of century. A style like no other which had me and friends going like WTF?! I remember me and some of the other Dutch member going over his early releases. Shout out to G-Clef and Chambermusik for putting those first two projects out there again after they were heavily shared in 128kpbs or something. Shit, that was a staple in any Wu fans MP3 collection.

Yeah, a ton of shitty rappers (mostly white) would give him substances so they could launch their bullshit careers and pretend to be Wu affiliated. His career & health was hurt working with such trash artists and maybe irritated RZA and the Wu because losers like Bomshot were repping the W.
I never knew him but know he had some traumatic upbringing and was a Blood or Crip (the Black Knights were 2 Crips and 2 Bloods, which is why RZA wanted to make them into his next big group). Seems like he was mixed race and thats a struggle itself proving yourself and getting unfair treatment in the hood. Reminds me of Bizzy Bone who is also mentally scarred from a young age. Worse is that he was extremely intelligent and nerdy, so I doubt anyone around him knew what he was talking about.
Whatever happened between him and 9th Prince, I'm sure Holocaust overdid it. He was an unstable guy and his respect from real thugs makes me think he wasn't someone to play with or handle the unfair structure of the music business. I wish the man had some real legit partners around him. I'm sure he was extremely difficult but like ODB he had no shortage of grifters and users around him.
I wanted to write a bio on him and recently reached out to Pro the Leader, telling him I wanted to help out Warcloud and the faggot read but never responded. Not mad because of the book situation but that these leeches didn't want to help this man out while he was struggling and now he's fucking dead. That maggot would have no career without him.

Alcatraz = Surreal, PCP-influenced random style with a nasally, over-the-top Italian gangster voice like PCP Ghostface and also a heavy Doc Doom sound. Probably developed it when he left the RZA and started working with local Cali underground rappers like Julez Unique and Skarekrow.
Robot Tank = The majority of his career, where he was less interested in rhyming or being entertaining and more about dropping occult and historical facts. Kinda sounds like an elderly wise man and rarely raps vulgar.
He only put out 4 or 5 official solo projects (Smuggling, Nightmares, Nightmares Resurface, Piano Drop EP & the Holocaust album with Blue Sky Black Death) but all his mixtapes are valuable even if they often have the same songs. The guy did tons of guest features and fans did a great job collecting them. The best tapes are The Signs of Hells Winter, The Devils of Kimon & Alcatraz: Jigsaw Puzzle. At least one of those was a totally original project. Then he did a few albums with Bomshot as the Warghosts and with Pro the Leader's crew the American Poets 2099. These crackers are not totally wack but not up to his level so thank Allah his fans made versions of each album without these guys' verses. Shaka Amazulu put out 2 projects with some reused shit and some new verses: Northern Right Whale and 2 Killah Priest albums, one of which is fucking rare and overpriced. And we know some geeky Wu fan just paid him to do an Anime/otaku type project. A great discog. Realizing this dude has probably my favorite rapper discog ever. Crazy how consistent his beats were. He was a legendary beat picker on top of being an amazing lyricist.
The best, most commercial album he ever made was the BSBD album. Really one of the best indie rap albums from the MF Doom/Ghost/Lil Wayne era.

That 'Mickey Rourke' track featuring Holo and Chino is epic and haunting. Two lyrical behemoths sadly lost in the same year.

RIP Warcloud
Warcloud was one of the first wu artists I listened to when I was getting into Wu in the late 90's and early 2000's. I probably listened to him before I listened to a lot of the general's solo work, and I was always scouring Audiogalaxy for anything by him. I loved all the weird movie and book references, the imagery he painted on each track, and he always had great beats to go with them. I think like a lot of people I yearned for him to return to his original Holocaust style, but I was also aware of his mental health struggles, so knew that this was unlikely. Regardless he always put interesting projects out and was easily my favourite Killa Bee.
