Georgy Porgy absolutely needed a second verse. such a great song.
guess who has been home. had to sell his assets to fight the system and is under utilized. TRUE MASTER.
No one can tell me that krs one and killah priest can get him to commit to full projects and the generals can't. its like, how aren't brothers seeing the goldmine right in front of em.
whatever.... what do i know
Absolutely agree on this. Check Nine he an older cat who dropped a dope album ( 2018 ) and lately some dope singles ( if you havent go check them out i highly recommend them )
Ghost even says something like " i aint trying to win a Grammy" . that to me says everything. Imagine a DH hitter in MLB saying i aint trying to go up there and get a hit or a homerun. wtf do i want you as my DH. This SC2 is good for putting on at work on spotify and let it roll. i listened to it last night on my earphones somewhat excited and i came away with like yea this wont get too many spins from me . Im not expecting GFK to sound or write like the early days but fuck dont call this SC2 just setting yourself up.
REALLY MISS RZA AND LORD SUPERB ON THIS SC2.
Now im looking forward to Method Man next album.
I wasnt expecting much but most beats are below average mixtape material... Raekwons new album is 10 times better than this mess. Rate 1.5 out of 5. Im way more excited for the Flygod 3 tape
If someone did a good job mashing up Windows and Rza’s The Grunge from BOP, that would make for a really dope track.
Also WTF, where is that Alchemist track Ghost played on Versuz!?
I have not listened yet, but it's wild to see the differing opinions here. Especially regarding the new Rae or Ghost being better. I'll find out shortly
GHOST should really retire after this no homo
@hiphopjunky
The beat selection is terrible you ll see
Just listened & 1st impression is LOVE it! GFK sounds so energized, hungry & ablaze w/ the pen game.

Going to listen again SUUUUUUUUUn!
PEACE
Interview on Power 106 Los Angeles. Ghostface tells us the origins of some of the tracks on the album.
Stupid link doesn’t work.
U either misread or misunderstood me. Where did i say 50 year olds drop classic albums all the time? I didn't. I said age shouldn't be a deterrent to making outstanding music.
Ghost is probably rich. From what I've heard he's a deadbeat father and husband, so he probably doesn't have many commitments that he actually cares about. He could've locked himself in a studio (or even a room at home with basic recording equipment and a laptop), and meticulously crafted an incredibly focused and inspired musical expression of what he envisioned SC2 should sound like, over the last 25 odd years, only working on it when he truly felt inspired to do so.
It wouldn't even matter in the slightest if he was at the top of his game as a rapper. He'd just need to deliver something he believed in.
Instead he gave usva mixtape of what r probably old leftovers that never fit on anything else or weren't good enough, and some so so new tracks.
As for naming classic albums 50 yo rappers did, i couldn't name a classic album that came out after madvillian or cold vein, whichever was more recent. Hip hop was only like 20 odd years old at that point. So age isn't the problem. It just became a lot harder to create a hip hop album that matters.
But look to K Rino as an example of an absolutely fucking ridiculously prolific rapper who has been around since the 80s n steadily gotten better with age, and reflected that in the quality of his releases.
Shit, he dropped 7 albums on one day a few years ago, n they were prob the 7 best albums he'd done, at the thyme.
I’ll bite.
im yet to hear a questionable Koop g rap album .
Where are RZA and U-God on this 4th Disciple track ?
How old was Jay z when he dropped 444?
Theres no excuse for sc2 sounding this bad
Shout out to Noel mentioning the GOD K-Rino who gets better with age. First intelligent thing that marsupial raping fag has ever said.
The saddest part about SC2 is that if Rza Exec produced this it COULD have been a worthy sequel. There are elements and building blocks here. And stop defending Ghost, he's lazy and doesn't respect you enough to put real effort and just wanted a cash grab.
The best example is 4th Disciple. He had the beat for ages, who knows when he spit a verse for it, but instead of going back and making it a song, just releases it as is. That's mixtape shit. Could have been so much better. There's good ideas and skeleton songs that could have been refined and expanded. Take off the useless weed carriers and put clan members on some songs and this would be a whole different story. This could have been great with just some.... effort. This is 25 years of laziness.
the LL/qtip joint was fire. Tribe album. Slick rick was good too.
they are good albums … but they aint classic. If they classic ghost got 7 bare minimum himself.
An mc dropping a gem past 40 is the exception, not the rule. . Idk any rappers with the rep of “each ALBUM gets better and better as they age”. Maybe g rap when it comes to greatness year to year. But after his initial solo run, nothing he dropped is considered a smash whatsoever. And even those og albums were nowhere near the albums of rakim nas wu pe etc. of g rap drops an alhum tomorrow, theyll be 5 people in the thread who even listened to it. And noone gon call it classic or be dissapointed if it wasnt
we disappointed because we know what it could be. Least i am. But if one didnt like def jam ghost idk why they are.
For every cuban linx 2 was a war report 2, doe or die 2, jose 2, muddy waters 2 and supreme clientele 2.
Whether they should be able to make a good album at that age or not, is a different story.. one would think yes… but the results show something different.
Aftwe 15 years of weak collab efforts, its obviously just business at this point. But People in here talking like this alhum is a complete wash 1 mic alhum … its not. At all
id say off rip, this album is closer in quality to those records, than those records are to their clsssic albums
edit:
oh hell na noel. K rhino?
you gon shit on ghost. His dope albums he dropped for k rhino. Lmao. Okayyyy
Well, i think the album is ok. 7/10
Some good songs, obviously Ghost isn’t the same as 10 years ago.
But, it doesn’t mean he sucks.
Rap Kingpin, Windows, Metaphysics, Iron Man, Sample 420, Love Me Anymore, Georgy Porgy are dope songs
Also, Set The Tone was dope too imo
It's not about hip-hop but music in general. Most groups can't beat their great works and labelling it "Part 2" makes this shit even harder to do. People need to start realising a few things. First of all, the age matters, at least a bit, because when Wu were young they were hungry as hell and they were more focused on making music and showing their skills. Now they're more mature and trying to imitate a 20-odd year old would be ridiculous that's why I like new Rae's album and I call it "a grown man rap" cause it's really dope but it's also very mature and Rae's trying to rap about things he's achieved and stuff.
Secondly, there's nostalgia behind it too. When I first heard SC I was maybe 12 years old and I fell in love with it so there's nothing that Ghost can record now that'll top it. There's no way becuase it's not only music but the memories associated with certain records. Y'all probably have the same issue with a lot of Wu records.
And finally, music industry done changed a lot and records aren't made as they used to. Back in the days, there weren't no digital stuff and producers used instruments, old records, and old gear which gave soul to the records. Today's beats often sound flat or too clear. In this case, they're poorly mixed imho
Even though I don't agree with or approve of CD's views as the face and voice of the 'legalise beastiality' movement, this is the best thing anybody has said in what I've seen of this thread...
'And stop defending Ghost, he's lazy and doesn't respect you enough to put real effort and just wanted a cash grab.'
Meh. Track quality matches the album cover. Not sure there is a single song i will revisit from this.
Who would ve thought SC2 would be even worse than Set the Tone
This is going to sound crazy but I'm two songs in and this ain't it lol.
For one, im too old for this. Usually when the artist matures up with time they're still tolerable (Nas is a good example) but this ain't it.
Album cover sums up what im hearing.
Bro that age shit makes no sense and its only an excuse in rap because rappers weed and drug their brains to oblivion. But it's not age, it's drugs and inspiration.
To rap you have to write rhymes and receive beats. Who tf gets worst at writing with age? Lol
I can understand a producer sucking because idk maybe you lose rhythm and budgets. But how do you lose the capacity to write with age? Why doesnt that rule apply to authors?
I'm loving this album! Visual street tales, over bangin' boom bap production. "The Trial" is my favorite joint. Rae & Ghost trading rhymes stating their case, in the vein of their 90's/2000's era chemistry. With GZA expertly summarizing the inner workings of the case as "The Stenographer." Legendary Wu Banga! Ghost came correct with a masterpiece for the ages.
Edit: this was in reference to tsa last poast...
The reality is if u stay inspired and healthy you will only get better with age and experience. Same with most anything that doesn't require physicality.
It's absurd to think someone will not be able to rap as well when they're in their 50's, purely cos of their age.
Most people grow out of hip hop. Most of the lyrical content in hip hop is immature dreck. Of course you're gonna lose interest in doing that shit as u get older. If you're lacking the creativity to find intetesting things to write about then u end up like ghost.
Those 12rtd albums r pretty cringe to me, as it's now grown men pretending to be mafia, decades after it brcame a stale concept. Rza narrating ANYTHING is guaranteed cringe anyway.
Yeah. It sucks that the genre is for dumb asses because you can do anything with the medium of rapping. Method man actually proves your theory. He stays healthy etc and he's technically just as good as before before. I only like his Tical album rap style which he dropped after that album, so I dont care about his new lame ass punchline shit but I can see that he can still write verses when he wants.
On another note, whoever is advising Ghost needs to be beat up lol. Its one bad idea after another.
Was it hollow darts that used to say “retire” in every thread? I feel it’s relevant here. Retire ghost. You’ve done enough.
Its all Wiggs fault !!! i bet he has a lifetime deal with gfk , ghostwriting for permission to sell toys like gold uzi's and gfk trinkets , etc. He may still be living that life and moving like he was when he was in OTF . i swear when i used to listen back in the day to OTF i always pictured him the mini gfk of the crew. He been riding gfk xxxx for mad long . But that is just my speculation i have nothing to prove it.
Thought at this point some of us og's could use a spoonful of that real legit Wu-Tang medicine.

I keep forgetting the identity of the guy is known. Ghost is always doing some season 6 Krusty the Klown 'business move' and using the name 'Supreme Clientele 2' for an album you didnt care about enough to make a cover for is right up there.
What I like least about my favorite rappers making trash for 30 years straight is there are now more people in the world who've heard the trash than something from 1996. And now I have to say 'Supreme Clientele 1' lol, God.
It's more about lack of inspiration rather than age itself. When you're trying to blow up living in the ghetto it's easier (if you have talent) to write more captivating and interesting lyrics. If you're rich and nothing really inspires you anymore it's quite difficult to keep that sword sharp.
I dont agree. You just need to look at hip-hop as an art form. When an actor plays a role in a gangster movie you dont think it's corny unless the whole movie is corny. If a concept is right and it's done properly it can be a masterpiece.
On top of most of the tracks being mid, Ghost or whoever the fuck else adlibbing “supreme clientele” “supreme clientele 2” in half the songs was insanely cringe and made it feel even more like a mixtape
RZAs 2 beats for Awich that got released this year both shit on every single beat on this album. Fuck I am crashing out over how this album is hahaha
Historically, when was the the first time Ghost gave a verse objectively not up to his standards? I am seriously going to get to the bottom of this (pause). It is one of the great mysteries, how something like this can happen.
You know, I have to give credit that rappers like Ghost managed to make a career out of 90% talking about the same thing over and over, often not even that cleverly and let’s be honest: if you’re 55 and talking a bout murder, sex in an explicit gross way and just how amazing you are then that’s fucking cringe. In general though, even the guys who have seriously grown as human beings like Masta Killa, Meth and Redman, often do not allow their lyrics to reflect it.
