word? in some respects i think the Osborn's desrerve their own title...

^^^norman osborn written by warren ellis...i'd buy it. bendis tries to capture the vibe ellis had in thunderbolts, but he's not capable, dark avengers is meandering and boring, wtf was the point of them fighting morgan la fey in latveria for 4 issues? and when are they going to adress how nomran's done all of this foul shit and hasn't been exposed for it? dude's had so many public breakdowns culminating in him webbed up, unmasked in his goblin costume gibbering like an idiot, but yet no one recalls any of this except peter parker. but i don't read all of the marvel shit, so maybe it has been adressed.
did anyone get the unwritten #1 from vertigo? 40 pages for $1.00, can't go wrong. it's a good premise and was a good issue, i'll probably add it to my pulls.
amazing spider-man is so inconsistent with the writing, the art has been consistently great though.
is anybody getting any of the batman stuff coming out next month with dick grayson as robin? i'm getting morrison's book, detective comics with batwoman, and streets of gotham and gotham city sirens (features catwoman, harley quinn, poision ivy)
w/e all that is u said, ima get..tho ive only read 1 issue of battle for the cowl...have i missed anything really good?
battle of the cowl started out ok and just fizzled out to me, tony daniels can't write to save his life, the final issue had just about every bad action movie cliche you can think of... the tie-ins were much better, like gotham gazette, arkham asylum, the network, and the underground. (pablo raimondi should be drawing a batman title, his work in the underground was gorgeous)
oh and the psycho-cop satanist batman from morrison's story is azrael now lol
have u read OML yet? i kno u had that redskull sig, that shit was so great....Mark Millar is just churning out classic after classic isnt he? (save 1985, eloels)
^^^ya i had it early, i didn't like the issue in overall development of the storyline but the art continues to be great, it just starting to feel drawn out and him just beating the shit out of red skull, killing him and then jetting back to california...the pacing was off or something, it just didn't feel as epic as it should have.
millar's real hit or miss for me, more misses, but i did like 1985, enemy of the state and the year long spider-man series he did was good (i have the oversized hardcover, they should've followed up on the idea of the supervillians being covertly funded by government and industry to keep the heroes distracted that scorpion mentions)
alot of his stuff to me has some good concepts but is just too generic action movie ish for my tastes, (like in the newest old man logan, the fact that he finally pops his claws because his family were killed was a predictable beat, and now the story will climax with him mutiliating the hulk kids...i'll buy this in hardcover when that inevitably comes out though, mcniven has just murdered the artwork here)
ya McNiven is a beast, might be my favorite artist right now, although idk...theres a few.
I think McN-s grimey as an artist. millar has the same feel to me as bendis, like they don't get writers block so their ill shit is almost all relative to themselves. but with OML I think its overall pretty illy.
i think Millar is miles ahead of Bendis.
^^^i think they're both hit or miss (would rather read warren ellis, brubaker or morrison, or alan moore of course lol), where's kick-ass though? i miss that book.
sure hit & miss but i think Millar is more consistant.
brubaker= blagh.
i can't understand how he has a job. he is so damn dull it upsets me.
Kick ass was dope dope dope! too many delays though
^^^brubaker dull? have you read criminal? or incognito? or his captain america?
that's some of the best stuff marvel puts out...his x-men wasn't all that but it's alot better than what matt fraction is doing.
and millar's fantastic four run has been awful.
whatever happened to bendis and maleev's spider-woman? wtf?
i don't know, i think i'd take bendis if i had to choose...his dialogue is better and his plotting is a little more deliberate and not so much, 'throw shit at the wall and see what sticks'...millar, by his own admission, thinks up what he feels are cool action scenes or set pieces and then tries to build a story around those, and it shows.
got em... i stopped buying cap after 40 or 50 issues, i think, like a lame.
Sean Phillips saved that Incognito series for me & am debating on selling all them & my Cap back except fo #1 - #25. He's too damn wordy for me. i feel like i'm reading a news paper. but i hate the Cap series for more than just him...ish... this whole shit with Bucky going on is retarded... i can't look at the series the same anymoe.
i also gotta disagree with the Fraction comparison (save Deadly Genesis)... you read Iron Fist? i think he's getting better after the abysmal war journal.
wow i didnt think i could disagree so much about bendis....i think his dialogue is sometimes horrible, it seems at times that he is trying to much to achieve a hipster feeling, and it shows IMO. but i like Brubaker, and incogneto is Neato...eloels.

^^^well you know i've criticized bendis before, and i agree he definitely tries to be too hip for the room, but i'd say alot of current marvel writers are guilty of that, especially matt fraction (and iron fist is the shit, duane swiercyzsnki writes it now though) and mark millar is just as guilty, though i'd say he tries too hard to make everything badass and jaw-dropping, he's like the comics equivalent of tony scott (jeph loeb would be michael bay, now he's the absolute worst of the lot, maybe one of the worst comic writers of modern times, i think we'd all agree)
bendis writes a funny ass spider-man, so he gets my thumbs up for that, but he did run dr strange and scarlet witch into the ground so he gets my hate for that lol
honestly i prefer wordy stuff, i'm more a fan of dialogue and narration than action scenes, which is probably why i like more vertigo and independent stuff right now.
i can't stand uncanny x-men at all precisely for the hipster dialogue and narration, i like fraction's iron man stuff though
im the same way with the dialogue, i prefer that kinda stuff since i work on screenplays, and ur right about Millar with the action shit....also i def. agree with the Loeb thing...smh..eloels.
jeph loeb is the worst?Quote:

^^^ i'd say he's the worst writer in comics that consistently gets put on high profile projects...his shit, especially lately (hulk, ultimates 3, ultimatum") strikes me as a pre-teen that thinks he's being provocative (blob eating wasp and then giant man biting blob's head off? seriously? that's a 9 year old playing with action figures not good writing)
he did write some killer batman stuff (long halloween, dark victory, haunted knight) but that's the only thing i can think of that i could stomach from him. his dialogue is banal and the plotting is always poorly thought out.
dusk, i'm working on scripts too, we need to build
im pretty focused on something im writing right now, personal shit....im (unfortunately) writing like 3 scripts at the same time
^^^no that's cool sounds about like what i'm dealing with lol
re-reading morisson's batman run right now, it's very inconsistent, there are some individual issues that are brilliant though, like the joker prose story, the club of heroes, 'joe chill in hell'...there are moments where it has the feel of a philip k dick novel or a david lynch movie, tony daniel's art in the later issues kind of let it down though, he's a good enough artist but not weird enough to capture the feel of what morrison was doing, jh williams iii should've done the art on the whole run
ya
the rip was good but his whole run seemed blah then they started talkin shit about how the whole run was to set rip up... I think that cat was feelin himself in his interviews and shit.
yall get down on geoff johns or however you spell his name?
^^^haven't read enough to say really, i read some of his superman stuff with gary frank (superman and the legion of superheroes and the braniac story, have those as hardcovers) and liked it, that's about all i've read other than flash rebirth #1 which i didn't care for.
wow comics are my new guilty pleasure ! finished reading my 2 series and i want to buy a joker's serie, anybody can suggest me a good one ? (idk if theyre called series but wtv you guys get the point)
the killing joke, the man who laughs...etc.
holy shit, you weren't joking hahaha. my amazing spider-man omnibus came in today. its heavy as fuck, like twice the size of my bible hahahaQuote:

ya word Grant put out Arkham....good shit.
actually im reading the x-men omnibus first...since its one third the size lol
it started out corny as FUCK mainly because of stan's corny-ass dialogue,
"look out angel, here comes a blade"
"oh no! gotta move fast! if i can only get a quick updraft i can dodge it! yes i got a quick updraft and dodged it! thank god for that quick updraft that allowed me to dodge that blade that would have hit me if not for the quick updraft! i dodged it. close call!"
"i warned you about overconfidence a million times angel! now you have your back turned and i am throwing another trap at you which you will see almost too late!"
"oh my god i am turning around now and am seeing a trap that the prof threw at me unexpectedly and now i am going to dodge it using my incredible maneuvrability. yes, i dodged the professor's unexpected trap using my maneuvrability but i almost saw it too late so i should try not to be so confident."
^^every first six pages of the first 10 issues
but im up to the sentinels saga now, and its getting less and less corny every issue. stories are getting better, and they're starting to build some background for the characters which is great. dialogue is improving too, thank god haha. its cool to see the progression in quality from the first issues.
^lmao I love stan lee but I hate his dialogue.
he recently did a fantastic 4 one shot... well bout a year ago... and man oh man I would think he developed some but nope
^^^ya unfortunately that was the style, it reminds me of the speed racer cartoon
nakhi, where's that picture from?
spoilers for Ultimatum 4
-Yeah, Dormammu curbstomps Strange, surrounding his body with his yellow sash and squeezing him until his head popped like a pimple--all while talking **** to him. (tho someone finds his body sighs, then touches him causing his body to be surrounded by light--what happened will probably be revealed in the finale)
-As seen in previews, Spidey is supposedly dead. Kitty notes that his death was caused by some magic light...so she doesn't know what really happened. She says he's prolly dead tho.
-Wolverine hands Kitty a box, and instructs her to open it if he doesn't make it back.
-Hulk joins up with the others and heads to stop Mags.
-Sabertooth DESTROYS Angel. He bites his wing off and snaps his neck--then gets shot in the eye by Hawkeye.
-Valkyrie cuts off one of magneto's arms, only for Mags to snatch her sword away and use it to cut her throat.
-Doom,Fantastic,Zarad, Arcanna, and Fury are heading back to the Ultimate U to stop Mags.
-After getting surrounded by Cap and the others Magneto says a Bible verse about destroying the Earth (basically the stuff from Moses and the flood) then...TO BE CONCLUDED.
^im still missing issue 2...
I hate when that happens but i still kept reading and im a little lost
i hate that fucking series, jeph loeb's such a shitty writer...what's the point of killing all of these characters anyway?
