The truth is millennials overhype the internet. It's just a bunch of people trying to be distracted from real life. Biden won the primaries by going to churches because church ppl actually vote. They kept him off the internet because he has the dementia, rapes and will likely drop an N-bomb by June. The people that use it the most don't vote (especially twitter people). It is influential, and it's obviously a big deal but the issue is when people start thinking everyone is as locked into the internet and it's ecology as they are.
Most of the trump and bernie trains are the results of people stewing in dillusional internet bubbles then unleashing their stupidity on the world. But both fell short because they assumed everyone else was as internet dependent and locked into bullshit 1898 ideologies they learned on youtube. If you're online you would think the polity in any given country is 'on the brink' but if you're operating in real life politics occupies 3% of a normal persons actual thoughts day to day and people use the internet to jack off, date, buy stuff and laugh. It's only R/politics people and journalists that only tweet that would have you thinking twitter and facebook are actually making a difference. The way ppl that watch CNN will tell you CNN is making a difference. There's someone out there that thinks his local newspaper's bias coverage is making a difference.
I think FB and Twitter have to be regulated like media companies and google has to be broken up (even though it's literally CIA at this point), but there is also an overhyping of their roles in people's lives outside of self satisfaction and an overestimation of how many people give a fuck about either (especially twitter which is only gay people from NY that work at newspapers, trannies and black middle class kids who gentrified brooklyn with white ppl and want to sound like they're deep)
The Swift removal of Parler will probably prove troublesome for FB, Apple and Google. Mainly because of the grounds they removed it on, that it was somehow responsible for its users content for inciting mass riots of right wingers.
Zero people arrested in the capitol thus far had a Parler account. But I’d guess most if not all a had FB or Twitter.
All this is right now is a monopoly partnered with a political party in a mission to silence their rivals both political and entrepreneurial.
It is alarmingly corrupt and “authoritarian” because of its brazen nature.
The Congress will be United on this because that building houses some of the biggest criminals and most corrupt, and dishonest narcissistic people in the country. It’s why their approval rating is always consistently low. I think it’s 20% last time I checked.

It’s not that twitter has replaced anything but it’s where people get their information from and it’s a platform for Trump and others to launch themselves from. Ordinarily these things don’t have a real life impact like gender pronouns but when the president has 88m followers this is a whole new ball game.
Trump doesn’t get elected without twitters it’s simple, you can be low-iq and facetious about where was Bill Clinton’s account but he used that in a way to rally his supporters like nobody ever did. His rants were hilarious if you took them as senile rants but dangerous when taken seriously and many people did. The news could and did at times just cut him off their feed and then he’s silence but at that point all he had to do was whip out the phone and go on a rant and he’s got a direct message to his fanbase.
silencing political speech should never happen and neither should spreading political misinformation by removing sides of the argument to fit a narrative. Calling Trump out and flagging his posts as misleading was fine but leaving it until he declared “we won and won big” was far too late.
In the US we have a popular vote, and an electoral college vote. Trump lost the popular vote to hilary clinton. Hilary lost the electoral college to Trump and that's what counts. Hilary won the lowest voter turnout election on record by a slim margin but not enough to secure a victory when it counted. So what I said made sense if you know what you're talking about.
corporations are not wings of the government. Cilvarings is not violating Sense-a's 'freedom of speech' by banning him on a website he made for entertainment. Twitter is not a part of the government. The term freedom of speech comes from a clause saying 'congress should not infrige on the freedom of speech'. You cannot take a private company to court and win using 'freedom of speech' because they're private institutions and not the congress at that.
It doesn't matter how you feel it should be, that's what it is and if you want to solve the problem you have to accept that. If you fight the problem talking about 'freedom of speech' you'll lose. Taking twitter away from Trump can be called several things but 2 things it can't be called are illegal or unconstitutional. I don't really know where you're going with trump wouldn't have won without twitter. Maybe maybe not nigga we only have this reality to content with and nothing to compare it with.
