Letang Clan ain't nothing to fuck with!!
I'm really not a Crosby fan but he is a great player. Congrats to the Pens for making it to the Eastern finals.
detroit vs. anaheim is going to be a thriller today.
who want's to run some bet's on this one??
i'm pissed because versus is carrying the detroit anaheim game. i want to watch the boston-carolina game so i can see who the pen's will play next.
they should have that game on fox.. and if not it starts an hour after the wing's game, so you should be able to watch half of it.
You mean NBC? Fox doesn't cover hockey at all.
Do you have Center Ice Art? Don't they get the feeds for the games? I'm in Canada and my center ice is blacked out since TSN and CBC are covering the games. Chi fans mentioned center ice had the games that were on VS. I could be wrong though.
Pens are taking this whole muther-fukin thing sunnn......eastern conference finals god
i thought i remembered watching it on FOX, i could be wrong. no i don't have center ice art. I watch it on VS. and FOX Sports (I just checked).
Pen's have a great team, but everyone is sleeping on Boston and Carolina,
Boston has a great goalie, and carolina just won the cup 3 years ago.
It could be anyone's game.
I don't think they would show hockey on a non cable channel, or even a popular cable channel, cause it doesn't bring in enough ratings.
NBC doesn't really count as a channel nowadays though.
I hope the Wings/Ducks go to 3 overtimes so they are nice and tired for game one against the Hawks. As much as I would like to see a Detroit/Hawks series, I want the Ducks to win so that the Blackhawks get home ice.
I don't think Fox has had hockey since they had their puck tracing technology. What did they call it again? Man that was funny watching a slapshot fly across the screen like a comet. It was like I was on shrooms and seeing tracers.
It's too bad no network or credible cable chanel wanted to pick up the NHL when the contracts were up. It's not good for hockey to be on VS when a lot of people in the States don't even get it.
ahha, i forgot about that puck tracing that they did..
i thought that was nice seeing where the puck traveled, some of these guys have such a hard slap shot, it's like a bullet going in the net.
ya they would have home ice advantage, but every team the ducks have played sharks #1 seed and wings #2 seed, it doesn't really matter they seem to just get goals in no matter who has home ice advantage.
wing's need to win, the last 2 times the wing's played the duck's in the playoff's they've been knocked out. We need to at least win one.
I think the same thing about Boston, That's the only team that would have home court advantage over Detroit in the final round.
go ducks go ducks.
are pens outs?
crosby sucks crosby sucks.
is crosby a big name [player in the nhl
vs channel sux
nesn is always great to watch sox, bruins, and the mad fisherman on..
for those watching in the states..
nesn 628 on direct tv
vs is 603 on direct tv
im surprised the nhl network 215 isnt making up for the boston / carolina game not being shown in its entirety..
Duck's just got cooked!
Hell ya!
overtime?
overtime in boston right now..
ducks put up a good fight 2night
the hawks wings series should be great

Play the Staal brother drinking game. as you may already know, Jordan and Eric Stall play for the penguins and hurricanes respectively. here is a drinking game that was invented last year durin the pens-rangers series when jordan was going up agains his other brother marc staal.
http://www.puckhuffers.com/2009/01/p...-brothers.html
Single shot to be taken if:
- it is mentioned that the Staals are brothers
- if it is mentioned that there are other Staals, not present, who are also in the NHL
- if a phrase such as "sibling rivalry" is used
- if it is pointed out that BOTH STAALS ARE ON THE ICE
- if anyone mentions the sod farm
- if any random facts are introduced about the present Staals or the Staal family
- if the Staal parents are mentioned
- if any Staal reference occurs that would simply not occur in a one-Staal game
Doubleshot to be taken if:
- a comparative Staal brother graphic is shown on the screen
- if they are verbally compared AT LENGTH by the announcers (use your own discretion in deciding what "length" is)
- if a video clip of the brothers/family is shown
- if an interview with a Staal brother happens at intermission (add an additional shot if the Staal brother is asked anything about playing against his brother)
- if the Staal parents are in attendance (this cancels out taking a single shot if the parents are mentioned, but not if they are mentioned separately from the fact that they are in attendance)
where's all that chicago's gonna kick ass talk now?
chicago is 2 years away from being serious contenders. they are too young of a team to handle detroit. much like the penguins were last year. i'm not so sure they can beat them this year either, but they will make it a much better series if they get there
penguins look like their playing alot better this year.
that was embarresing last year, the first what 2 games they didn't even score in the finals?
redwings are beasts, they usually get at least 15 - 20 more shots on goal than their oppenents, but some how it's still usually a close game.
osgood stepped his game up in the playoffs, but he is getting old.. he's the only goalie i think rockin' the old school mask still. some shot's that he misses are just basic one, two goal tending blocks.
if we play pitsburgh again, it's gonna be a good series.. ill def get a little nervous about it. if we lose, i bet Hossa will get so mad. lol
this is funny because everything you wrote, me and my friends have talked about in the last couple days.
we talked about how the pens didn't even belong on the same ice as the wings. it looked like a varsity team playing a freshman team. somehow the pens were able to win 2 games and came close to tying up that game 6 to force an overtime for a possible game 7.
we talked about how osgood is the only person with the nonconventional goalie mask.
we talked about how hossa left for the wings for a better chance to win the cup (not that i blame him) and he could lose it this year to the pens.
we were also discussing if the redwings and penguins matchup could become like the lakers-celtics matchups of the 80s. or what if the redwings just fuck the penguins up every year and we become the buffalo bills of the nhl.
LOL Just getting back to work today from the long weekend and haven't been on the net.
Deep down my mind was telling me that the Hawks would lose to the Wings but what fun would it be if I wasn't being optimistic? They have played ok and had a chance to win both games. Had the 7 million dollar man not given up a terrible give away in OT then it could easliy be 1-1. Habby frustrates me. He will give up a soft goal, come back and make some sick saves and then give up a soft goal again. $12 million paid to goaltending and Habby's save percentage is < .900 in the playoffs to go with a shitty GAA. It's surprising they made it to the Western final with those numbers.
It's going to be tough to come back and win the series but if they can win the next two at home, anything could happen.
I agree. It's been a nice surprise for them to get so far this year. The problem is that they are cap fucked by an idiot GM. Havlat and Bulin are gone next year, Huet has a contract that nobody would take and therefore stuck with him for the next few years. The kids (Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook) all deserve significant raises but there will be no room (apparently the cap will go down next year) so basically they are going to end up losing one or two of their young guys. Shit Campbell (who basically handed Det. game 2) makes $7 mil and nobody will take that contract. The future may not be as bright as it could have been. Let's hope I'm wrong.
Hmm.. I could see the penguins being rivals if they beat the redwings this year, there's got to be some kind of give and take.
I remember when colorodo was detroit's rivals for the longest time, I was starting to think anaheim would be our new rivals, seeing how tight every game was this year and how many fights broke out on the ice.
Chicago had a good chance at winning the last game, that 3 on 1 odd man rush was priceless, they planned that shit out perfect. I think Detroit has like 3 breakaway goals on chicago already,
If we can win one of the next two away, it's in the bag.
After this year I believe Hossa's, Zetterberg's, and Franzen's contracts are up. It'll be interesting what they do their.
The Redwings coach doesn't play Chelios much because he's American?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHICAGO (AP)—Jeremy Roenick(notes) has a strong opinion on why Chris Chelios(notes) doesn’t play much with the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.
Roenick, a former teammate of Chelios when both were members of the Chicago Blackhawks, said Detroit coach Mike Babcock doesn’t appear to like American players, especially Chelios.
“The coach just doesn’t like him for some ungodly known reason, I think he’s got a grudge against American players, but he does not like Cheli at all,” said Roenick, who played this past season with San Jose. Roenick’s comments came Thursday morning on “The Monsters in the Morning” show on Comcast Sportsnet in Chicago.
“There is an underlying, I don’t know if it’s a hatred, because hatred is a strong word. But there is some underlying issue there that I don’t understand. You know Babcock is the coach. You have to respect him for his decisions on who he plays, and that is all well and good,” Roenick said.
“Sometimes it’s just the verbal stuff that goes back and forth, from what I understand,” he added. “Cheli will never complain. He is the ultimate professional. He will do whatever the team needs.”
Roenick said he couldn’t repeat some of the things Babcock has said to the 47-year-old Chelios. The defenseman is in his 25th NHL season and has played in only four playoff games this year. His role was limited this season, especially after he fractured a shin bone in a preseason game.
“If you’d know some of the things that Babcock says to Chris Chelios, it would make your stomach churn,” Roenick said. “Just total disrespect, for not even just one of the best Americans, but one of the best defensemen to ever play the game. The way he is talked to is just unacceptable. I wish I could elaborate, but that’s not proper. It’s just disrespectful.”
Chelios, a Chicago native who was traded from the Blackhawks to the Red Wings in 1999, downplayed Roenick’s comments.
“How does JR know anything—is he playing?” Chelios told the Detroit Free Press. “The last time I talked to JR was a few weeks ago, and it was about his charity pool party in Vegas. I don’t know what JR is talking about.”
When the Red Wings arrived in Chicago on Thursday evening on the eve of Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, Babcock told reporters at a downtown hotel to consider the source.
“I think the whole key to that statement is JR said,” said Babcock, an Ontario native who has also coached the Anaheim Ducks. “I’ve got two American kids. I’ve lived here for 16 years. There’s lot of time now between games and you guys have got to come up with stuff.”
Babcock insisted he and Chelios are fine.
“I think players who aren’t playing, I don’t think anyone is turning cartwheels about that,” Babcock said.
“But I think Cheli and I have a good relationship,” he added. “I hold him in high regard and I think he’s an important part of our team and he has been for a long time. We bring him back year after year because we feel he’s important. He’s going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer and he’s a real important guy for us.”
