record companies are just predators..especially in the rap biz cuz most artists come from an area where money is more scarce.. so they convince them they will be rich and famous for the rest of their life if they give up more points per album and take "killah" off their name (fuck def jam)
i think signing to a major label would actually bring in more money in the end with the extra exposure and shoe, car, clothing, jewelry, gum and fucking concrete deals or whatever these idiot industry rappers are getting these days.
it just sucks that all of hip-hop gets labelled as purely a way to get rich and has nothing to do with music, the underground and indie artists are like the only ones bringing the truth thru hip hop.
