hey, i'm willing to admit that detroit is a great team and it will be a tough series for the penguins, but detroit is not without their flaws. i would definitely have to give the wings the advantage at this point, but osgood can be shakey in net. detroit is old and they have some injuries right now. so we'll see.
i agree with you on everything besides the fact they are old.
yes they have older players, obviously it doesn't matter.. they're about to put to rest the youngest team in the nhl. Even with the 3 players they're missing they beat chicago 6-1. I know chicago was missing Khabibulin, but i thought Huet was suppose to be good? Chicago spends $12 million a year on goalies i believe.
ya pitsburgh is doing well, swept carolina in the conference finals, that sucks for them.
but detroit is the same team as last year plus one pitsburgh power shooter.
we were a better team on paper last year and detroit took our best player from the playoffs away from us, but the penguins are a better team this year. they have a better system, a better coach and their defense is playing better. also, their young superstars have another year of experience under their belt. the penguins will play a better series this year.
even though the pens won 2 games against detroit last year, they should have been swept. detroit dominated that entire series unlike anything i've ever seen before. that was supposed to be the 2 best teams in the league battling each other, and the penguins didn't even look like they belonged in the same league as detroit. if the pen's win 2 games this year, they will have earned them this time. hopefully the pens win in 6 because i have tickets to game 6, just as i did last year when detroit won the cup.
time for round 2!!
LETS GO!!
Damn Redwings.
I figured that would be the end result but I was hoping Chi would have won at least 2 or 3 games. They got close by taking the wings to OT twice but they just couldn't finish.
Although Huet makes 6 mil he isn't all that great. Sure he played very good last night and gave the Hawks a chance but I am not too optimistic about the Hawk's future. I never thought they would have made it this far so congrats to the boys for a solid exciting year.
actually they went to overtime 3 times.
i hope lidstrom & datysuk will be ready on saturday.
I'm still pissed as hell the Nucks lost in 6 games to the Blackhawks! So much for Mats Sundin. Now I get to wait out this painful offseason to see if the Nucks can resign the Sedins and Bobby Lu.
My prediction for the finals: Detroit in 6
I wasn't clear but I was just refering to the two they lost in OT. You are right, they went to OT 3 times.
I'm in Saskatchewan so there are ton of Canuck, Oiler and Flames fans. My best friend is a huge Canuck fan and he went to Van for game 2. Anyway, he was damn near suicidal after the Hawks won the series. For days all he was talking about was how the refs fucked them over because the NHL wanted a Chi/Det series. There was no way I could watch the games with him since he is no negative about everything but I'm sure he broke shit when the Hawks took game 6.
I've seen bad calls in every series with every team,
you only get mad when the bad calls happen to your team.
from reading these forums, i thought only pittsburgh teams benefitted from bad calls.
In real time when it first happened I thought the puck was behind Havlat so I thought it was dirty. Then I saw the replay and realised it was in his feet so then I thought it was clean. After watching a few more times it looks like Kronwall jumped off the ice just a little bit as he hit him.
Final verdict - borderline.
the nhl set a precedent during these playoffs. because they allowed ovechkin to (a) leave his feet when he hits somebody and (b) take out other players knees, they cannot suspend anybody else for that either.
1 down 3 to go!
Fluery is the best guy on the redwings, two goals what a guy!
good series so far

now that's fucking funny.
i hate to give up on my team, but detroit is too fucking tough. i don't see the pens coming back from being down 0-2 like they did against washington.
id hate to give up on your team too, thats why i never considered them a challenge.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
i got tickets to game 6 and i will probably be working out of town. so it almost doesn't hurt so bad. i'd want to kill myself if the pen's won the cup game 6 and i had to give up my tickets.
well hey at least they didn't get shut out the first two games this season.
hey did any of you hear, that the red wings are going to move to the eastern conference and they are going to add two more teams to the western conference?
that will never happen. the nhl has spread themselves too thin to markets that can't support hockey as it is... ie. nashville, phoenix, raleigh, tampa, atlanta, long island hahaha
So the NHL overturned a one game suspension for that douchebag Pittsburgh player who started a fight and they went against one of their own rules, cause the NHL wants the series to have a chance at being competitive?
the NHL set a precedent in the penguins-capitals series that they were not going to suspend its superstars when ovechkin took out gonchar's knee.
haha, sirgay.

lol, art still bringing that shit up. so predictable.
i wasn't complaining about it. just giving the kid the reason why malkin wasn't suspended. actually, if i remember correctly, same thing happened in the wings ducks series in game 6. there was a fight at the end of the gamenobody was suspended for that.
whoever wins game 4 will go on to win the series.
well i agree with you if detroit wins game 4. but if the pens win, detroit still has home ice advantage and the penguins still have hal gill. he is fucking awful.
How did Hasek do this season?
unlike donovan mcnabb, he knew when to retire
I thought Hasek was still playing for the Red Wings?
^ watch a game maybe..?
wings have trouble with game 3's usually.
expecially when ref's don't care if the penguins have 20 men on the ice and the wing's can't even touch a penguin.
just my two cents
↑
that no-call doesn't even make up for when zetterberg covered the puck in the crease in game 1 and the penguins didn't get a penalty shot.
Thanks for the advice cheese ball. I read now that Hasek came out of retirement recently to play for a hockey league outside of the NHL.
how does it not?.. what should have been a redwings powerplay.. ended up being a penguins powerplay (winning goal).
40% of penalty shots this year have scored goals. osgood is 0-1 this year against the penalty shit. detroit's PP% is 25% during the playoffs. the penguins penalty kill is 84%.
the penguins were more likely to score on the penalty shot than detroit would have on the power play. like i said, it doesn't even out.
