Quote:
Gibbs spent a #3 pick for Brunell
Having spent that #3, it cost a #4 to move up and take Cooley in the draft
The cap hit for Brunell contributed to losing Antonio Pierce to a division rival
Gibbs spent a #1, #3 and #4 for Jason Campbell and, to this point, we can't be sure he's a solid QB
Ramsey made 24 starts for the Skins, 17 of them for Spurrier. We won ten of those games (42%). Jason is 20 -26 as a starter (44%) with better coaching and better talent around him. Brunell didn't do any better.
So, adding it up: replacing Patrick Ramsey has cost us Antonio Pierce, A #1 pick, two #3s and two #4s and we have yet to see improvement at the QB position. Now, suppose we had kept Pierce and used the cap space spent on Fletcher at another position. Let's also suppose we had kept those five high draft picks and used them on the O-line. Can you imagine the powerhouse support we would now have in support of any QB?
throw the murder of sean taylor in there somewhere too.
