now thats dumb as fuck cause I taught my dogs NOT to do that.
Maggie and Romel both dont do that.

and if you want to go in and say "telling my dog it isnt rational" I did tell them, but not in words, if they barked at a car, they got hit. Now isnt it rational not to bark when you will get hit in the process? I think my dogs figured the rationality of it pretty quickly.
Im sensing your dogs would get fucked up in my house. Bad behavior with house hold animals isnt accepted in the Venturo residence.
lol... ya so instead of debating religious nuts we should just beat the crap out of em everytime they open their yapper. worked on the jews and muslims during the inquisition right?
i like how you think big risk.
im talking about animals. you goon. read my post.
I was only pointing out that the comparison you made was bogus.
listen we could have a long stupid back and forth over this or we could just go our separate ways, me saying it's impossible to convince the masses that they should convert to atheism/agnosticism and you saying dogs can be made to behave rationally by beating the crap out of em. and neither one of us is wrong. isn't that nice?
I never said beating the crap out of them. What is the deal with you thinking shit completely wrong?
He's not talking about conditioning an animal against certain behavior. You can train a dog all you want, but you'll never convince one why it's irrational to bark at cars because they don't have the intelligence to comprehend that. Thus, his remark was basically saying that religious people are so set in their ways that preaching atheism to them is as pointless as trying to teach logic to an animal.
touche. i stand corrected.
I am pretty much an atheist. But I would not try and convert people into being atheists. Most people are born a certain religion. Its like me telling you that your not really a Haitian (when you think you are), instead you are just a human being.
to me its less about conversion and more about realization of facts and logic. and i think it is worth while having people question what is around them, because if i dont, i feel like im giving up. yes it is very hard to show a religious person the ways of free thinking and a good amount of them flat out dont want to hear it, because their faith has been beaten into them since they can remember being alive. but ive had discussions with many mature people about religion and somewhat gotten them to value reason and science over faith.
but the dog barking at a car analogy is pretty weak considering these are still human beings. we shouldn't be degregating them to unsentient creatures because they are still capable of rational thought, its just that their faith in God rules out any chance of looking for answers. you cant approach them like you definately know 100% more about everything in existance than them or you'll just recieve contempt and disagreement out of spite.
if any progress is going to be made against religion (as there should be) it wont ever happen if people are too lazy to argue the truthful side, just being content in being right. but of course there are many many people lost beyond all reach of logic, hopefully they will soon die out

Religion gives hope to the pessimist-----Religion gives hate to the rival-----Religion gives division to the weak-----religion gives power to the strong-----religion gives truth to the believer-----religion gives lies to the unbeliever-----religion gives friendship to the loner -----religion gives love to the neighbour-----religion gives life to the suicidal-----religion gives control to the evil-----and religion gives morals to the criminal
RELIGION IS YOUR CHOICE, BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR GOD....AS LONG AS ITS KEPT LIKE THAT IT CAN CAUSE NO BOTHER
Servey says yes we do take our religions seriously
i couldn't disagree more.. division between man does cause 'bother' and through history religion was never kept as a personal value it was taken advantage of as a cause for control and partizanship. obviously religion has killed more innocent people than anything else, but even i admit that is a broad and over-used statement. but nonetheless many many people have died senselessly because of it.
maybe your point is that IF religion is kept personal than it causes no problems, and i would agree with that. but the problem with your statement is that the average person does not keep it personal.
i just believe in the strength of the human soul over a figment of our imagination and insecurity.....
The only thing I hate is when people force their religion on the media (i.e Televangelists) to make a living. These people are Using Religion as it was meant...to control.
I hate when priest are interpose to the diplomacy...
