NOBODY, gets knocked out by front kicks in any sort of martial arts competition. It just isn't done. That Silva knocks out his supposedly most dangerous challenger with a dummy move on the biggest stage possible is............................ridiculous.
I like GSP as much as the next guy, and I even think he has good chance at beating Silva, but man, whens the last time he finished a fight? When has he ever finished someone like this?

You don't get it. He DID get that KO. AND he trained that kick to be that effective.
Buddy, he dodged strikes and threw something back so effective that it ended the fight. He didn't need to waste any unnecessary motion on bullshit 'activity' just to please rednecks, and people who are swayed by rednecks booing.
If you watch the fight KNOWING that Silva is just trying to get his range, and timing, feeling out for an opening, it makes the fight that much more exciting. You have understand this isn't a fucking video game that needs to entertain you constantly to be worth watching.
The build up was great. You don't start the fight against a guy like Belfort with your hands down and within striking range, but if you watch the first 3-4 minutes you see how Silva slowly tests his range and reflexes and finds himself in front of Belfort in position to deliver that kick.
I don't CARE about the first 4 minutes because I know they were necessary for that last moment.

when silva is motivated, he finishes his opponents... gsp is awesome but i don't think even he'd be that competitive... i hope i'm wrong though...

As great a fighter as GSP is, I don't think he can handle Silva. If a roided up Olympic level wrestler can't beat Silva even while Silva was making it a point to win by submission (for the disrespect that was shown to the Noguiera brothers), then I don't see GSP having any success.
Lately, GSP has only beaten fighters by decision and he was a good deal stronger than the ones he fought against. Silva has a very unpredictable style. You can't train for someone like that (and apparently steroids won't help you to do that either, as Sonnen proved).
I guess I can understand how someone would prefer to watch a fighter with more "flash" in his style than Silva (like Cung Le). But, then again, a fighter like Cung Le is no where NEAR the skill-level of Silva, so I'm easily more amped for a Silva fight than a "Cool spin kick" Cung Le fight given the level of competition they face.
With that said, it's more ENTERTAINING for me to watch a worked fight (like in films, or pro wrestling) than a real one. But a more methodical and unpredictable fight (short or long) that Silva is involved in is much more satisfying at the end of the day for me.
Just my 2 cents.
P.S. There should be no doubt at this point by anyone that Silva is the best pound for pound fighter in the world today.

GSP has a lot of dickriders so people try to discredit him as being overrated. He's literally beaten everyone in his entire division worth fighting, BJ Penn twice, Matt Hughes twice, etc. He and Silva are alike, they're tactical fighters.
If you know anything about MMA, watching GSP dismantle his opponents is a beautiful thing. Koscheck fight is a good example. He didn't "finish the fight" but he didn't need to. At no moment in that entire fight was he in danger of losing, he's in complete control at all times.
Anybody complaining that he doesn't "finish fights" is a fan of violence, not a fan of Mixed Martial Arts as a sport.
Silva is an incredible fighter too. It would truly be an incredible match-up, and I can't say in confidence that either fighter would have any distinct advantage, other than the fact that GSP needs to gain weight to compete outside of Welterweight.
Can't wait for it. Dana really wants that fight.

I wouldn't say so. Niether would I say so in the unlikely case of GSP beating Silva. Plus, you have to take into account that he went through 2 different weight classes and smashed the competition. That is a feat that GSP has yet to do (he may be capable of doing that, but hasn't done that yet like Silva has already).
Bottom-line, it's important to compare the fighters in all categories. From their strong points (Silva FINISHING his opponents in creative and dominating ways, or GSP strategically out wrestling proven wrestlers) to their weak points (GSP lack of finishes, or Silva "running away" from Maia). When you do that, it becomes really clear who is the better all around fighter. If it is in fact GSP, he has yet to show as much as Silva has. It's unlikely GSP will beat Silva, but my point was even when Silva does beat him the Silva haters will still downplay the victory. It certainly happened in his last 2 fights despite the fact Silva FINISHED both opponents ("Meh, Sonnen had him beat until Silva got a fluke win." and "Meh, Belfort was washed up anyway, that doesn't really count.")
The Silva hate has become comical at this point. I don't expect that to change even after he beats GSP (if that fight even happens). God forbid that fight be one of Silva's rare decision wins ("Meh, he couldn't finish GSP, so basically GSP is still the better fighter since he survived a fight with Silva.")

Much due respect to you 100proof, but you cant list decision win victories from Silva without the details.
He has had only 2 decision wins in recent times. One last year and one in 2009. Prior to that his decision win was way back in 2004. The Silva that fought then is not the complete fighter that he is today. Everyone would agree with that.
Also, you seem to really harp on that Maia fight. Please note, that Maia wasnt engaging the fight either. Plus, he has some good notable victories under his belt (he also submitted Sonnen, for example). So to say he isnt a good fighter is inaccurate.
So yeah...Silva has a tendency to finish his opponents, looking at his record clearly shows that. GSP has a tendency to grind out decision wins.
when the fight comes if it does...it goes past the first round gsp has the higher chance of winning.. but hey this shit is end of the year shit..for now i cant wait till gsp vs jake shields who is in the top 3 for the weight class...huge speed bumb to get to a mega fight...also if does go down you gotta look it like this too

Sheilds shouldn't be fighting at the weight he is fighting at based on his last fight. He looked dehydrated and weak as hell (physically speaking, of course he has the skills as seen by his fights before the weight drop). I don't see Shields beating GSP. But as someone else says, if he DOES somehow win it'll mess up a lot of future planning.
even if shields pulls off the upset, there's no reason why gsp-silva can't go ahead... it'll just be more motivation for him to want to win...
Sheilds has a chance, not a great one, but GSP has never faced somebody with the level of wrestling combined with BJJ that Sheilds possesses. Yeah, his stand up is junk, but if Sheilds takes take GSP down, he puts him in a position of his strength vs GSP's weakness (GSP off his back).
I do however expect GSP to be super prepared for this fight like he always is. In theory the same strategy can work against Sheilds that worked against Koshckeck.
I also agree that if GSP loses, him versus Silva would still be a worthwhile matchup which he is capable of winning.

GSP vs Shields is a dry-humpers dream fight, IMO. Either way the entire mma world wants to see CANderson vs GSPenis. I'm inclined to go with Canderson due to size and speed, it's gonna take Penis quite a while for his ability to catch up to a 185 frame. Even then he's still a good 4inches shorter and won't have the advantage on striking on the outside like he's done with almost every opponent.
as for Shields and penis I'm gonna go with Jake. He's one of those guys that fights to the level of the fighter he's fighting, and does just enough to win. He's never over aggressive and is far more dangerous at bjj than any prior opponents (yeah, BJ included faggots). Dont look for this to be a barn burner as I suspect both men leave with rug burns that resemble a night of hot gay man sex.

I was pretty impressed by Penn's performance. Thought he had no chance against Fitch but he almost finished him twice. Unfortunately, his achilles heel reared its ugly head again in his conditioning. Good decision by the judges in my eyes....I too had it a draw.
If GSP beats Shields and moves up to middleweight I think the best scenario would be to put the Fitch-Penn rematch on for the vacant welterweight strap.
