Hero doesn't count for me because i didnt think it was that good. man the last paragraph of urs doesnt even make sense, wut are u talkin about immortalize him cuz he dead, people immortalize him cuz he made timeless music while he was alive, tupac acknowledged rakim as well, rite now i would say rakim and tupac are about even maybe i would rank rakim a bit higher in terms of skill but i like pac more. And just to get a little comment in i hold kool g rap as the greatest of all time so dont make no assumptions.
It aint cuz hes dead you fuck, its because he ran through any chamber Nas was trying to enter. Ya sure maybe Pac wasnt "clever" but he told truths and any album he put out(before he died) wasnt gimmick shit either like Nas' last two albums. Oh ya i never heard Ether, you stupid fuck, i know Ether word for word and same thing with Hit Em Up, maybe you never heard Hit Em Up, fuck outta here with that shit
"N****, I BOMB FIRST"
word sun quan frontin like 2pac didn't have love from fans worldwide when he was livin ... not only that but he had the entire industry shook .... when WU TANG got jacked who got their shit back? when the HARDEST group in rap got ran for their shit, only one man could get it back
only a made niggrum had that power
So you admit that he wasn't as a clever lyricist as Nas, which is an undisputed fact. Now what is typical of Pac fans is "lolol pac is betta cuz he had a message. F*ck lyricism he had a message, lolol" Fuck that. Nas had plenty of songs that had a positive message to youths, but to many niggas are on his skeleton dick that when Pac is said they say "BEST RAPPA ALIVE!" Hell, I used to think that, then I got a f*cking brain and realized that Pac wasn't even all of that. Rakim, KRS-ONE, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, and maybe(and I mean maybe) even Big L were better then that nigga.
Of course I heard Hit em Up, his bald headed screamin ass, no type of lyricism, all he did was call BIG a fatass and say f*ck Badboy. Wow, impressive.
well according to you sun quan, krs one doesn't have a brain because he has been quoted saying 2pac is the greatest lyricist that ever lived ... and i didn't throw the word 'lyricist' in there, those were his actual words ...Quote:

Of course they would say that because the nigga is dead, doesn't mean it's true. If Pac was still alive this wouldn't even be a debate. KRS-ONE would have never made that statement if Pac was alive and KRS-ONE isa a better emcee then what Pac could ever hope to be.
your logic is flawed because if krs one was going to lie why not just put biggie as number one? biggie and krs one are both from new york and repped it to the death ... why would krs one go out of his way and lie to praise a west coast artist when he can gain even more respect by praising big?
krs one's opinion > sun quan youngest wu's opinion
uhh wtf is my name in the Nas Lost pile for? Made this whole thread in aid of Pac, idk mustve fucked up my vote
There are some writers whom one immediately recognises, bookish fellows whose drawing-room civilisation obtrudes unpleasantly on the senses. They are just writers, no matter how great. But there are others who are great men, because they are men and who write because chance turns their energies towards writing as a means of creation. These are the men I love. Out of their speech, out of their eyes, out of the movements of their bodies, joyousness and exuberance flow and they make you feel it is good to be alive.

alright tupac is better than krs one and big L but rakim n kane are debatable, if ur talkin bout cleverness or wutever then the top 5 would be something like canibus, big L, chino xl, ras kass, and eminem , lyrics arent all about cleverness, its about how u can convey a message and have people relate/ feel that message, of course punchlines/cleverness and storytelling all play a part in lyricism as well but i think when most people listen to lyrics they wanna hear something they can relate to, i like all these things so i switch up wut i listen to a lot but i would say thats the overall median of what i view lyricism as, out of all these i listed who did it the best? Big L and Em did Big L didn't live long enough to blow up like he potentially could have but still thats just a twist of fate. Once again you leave on a horrible paragraph, he had some rhymes in their that were straight raw, his lines aimed at lil kim, lil cease, and such were vicious, your lying to urself if u think not.
I voted Nas, but Rakim is the greatest.
