I copped the album to support as I do all WU album releases. Definitely a dope album but these hooks are just absolutely garbage and is my only complaint
Someone needs to seriously try to make a hookless version of this album!
So the stream video is set to private now
any other links out there?
On first listen, the album was pretty disappointing imo. All I remember is weird songs and horrible horrible hooks.
Have been trying to give it another listen since that first night.
This is an interesting album. To me it's like a combination of The W, Iron Flag and 8D, ranking just under The W in my opinion. We Will Fight is the one track I skip, I'm just not feeling it. I think they were going for an old school vibe with that one.
There are a lot of strong joints on the album, with the current stand outs being Felt, Mistaken Identity, Hold The Heater, Miracle, Necklace, Pioneer The Frontier and Crushed Egos.
I wasn't so keen when I found out that Family Reunion was going to be on the album but it's a good closing track, ending the album on an upbeat positive note.
After my first several listens I gotta say that I'm overall impressed with the album.
Cappa was basically only good on "Felt"
I'd rather have Street Life on those tracks.
After hearing the album I wouldn't say that Cappa was as bad as some people were making out. Yeah he wasn't great but he wasn't whack as well. I thought his verse was cool on the title track.
When has Cappa ever really been good besides some verses on Cuban Linx and Ironman? The pillage was cool......but he's always been not a good lyricist. He sucks on triumph.....and his verse is right in the middle of one of the illest wu joints of all time. I thought he was typical Cappa on here. He did not bother me
Ruckus in B Minor - 4/5
Felt - 4/5
We will Fight - 3.5/5
Mistaken Identity - 5/5
Hold the Heater - 4.5/5
Crushed Egos - 4/5
Keep Watch - 3/5
Miracle - 4/5
Preacher's Daughter - 4.5/5
Pioneer the Frontier - 5/5
Necklace - 4.5/5
Ron O'Neal - 3/5
A Better Tomorrow - 4.5/5
Never Let Go - 4/5
Family Reunion 3.5/5
61/75 = 81%.....4 star album that I really enjoy!
Wu-Revolution sucks. It has a wack beat, and a wack affiliate, preaching like a drunken hobo, and one part is just cringeworthy.
"At one time it was told to me
That man came from monkeys
That we were swinging from trees
I hardly can believe that unless I'm dumb, deaf and blind"
I guess you're dumb, deaf and blind, Popa Wu.
It's like if a rapper went on a rant about how the world is flat, or that the sun revolves around the earth...I like to think Wu is smarter than this. GZA should've educated Popa Wu.
Not sure what you're talking about with that list of countries, but yeah, Wu-Tang Forever gets off to a bad start (and arguably a bad end with the Tekitha solo. Hooks are cool but a whole song? No thanks.)
It should've started with the kung-fu clip at the end of Wu-Revolution, and then Reunited. No other Wu album starts with an affiliate rambling about religion for six, seven minutes, not even rapping.
"B.I.B.L.E." is a good example of a dope "religious" rap song.
1. Ruckus In B Minor - 4.5/5 - Dope shit here!
2. Felt - 4/5 - Dope. Would have been great if not for some overproduction with those hi hats.
3. We Will Fight - 2/5 - Not feeling the beat. Clan are the clan.
4. Mistaken Identity - 4.5/5 - Back to the dope shit here! Nice!
5. Hold The Heater - 5/5 - Even more dope! Love everything about this one!
6. Crushed Egos - 4.5/5 - Would be a 5 if longer. Too short. Dope as hell!
7. Keep Watch - 3.5/5 - Beat is decent. The mc's do a good job, but Nathaniel brings us the worst moment on this album with that wack ass hook! Doesn't sound right at all for the song. Pretty much ruins this song.
8. Miracle - 4/5 - Sadly, Nathaniel is back on this track. Although he brings even gayer garbage than he did on the previous track, this song is too good for his presence to ruin it.
9. Preacher's Daughter - 5/5 - Lot of hating of this joint going on. don't get it at all. Love it. Dope as fuck imo.
10. Pioneer The Frontier - 5/5 - Vintage sounding Wu shit! Dopeness!!
11. Necklace - 5/5 - 4th with an epic dark beat here!! Dope as hell!
12. Ron O'neal - 4/5 - Dope track overall. Good beat, good verses, wack Nathaniel hook again. This one doesn't hurt the track as much as the previous 2 offerings from this shitty ass Nathaniel cat.
13. A Better Tomorrow - 4.5/5 - Love this joint. Hook is meh. Not as bad as Nathaniel's bullshit! Could easily have been a perfect 5 with a better hook.
14. Never Let Go - 4.5/5 - Another banger here!
15. Family Reunion - 3.5/5 - I like this joint more hearing it on/ending the album than I ever did before. It's a nice ending actually. Not that great of a song though.
Loving the album!! I completely agree with GFK thatis is the best clan album since Forever.
To Soob-that production list is from the ABT booklet. Peace
Off topic a little but I do agree, my only beef with 'Forever' is and always has been the way it opened and closed. My list right now......
1.Forever
2. 36 Chambers
3. ABT
4. 8D
5. W
6. Iron Flag
was playing this in my car today and it sounds great.
at first I wasn't a big fan of Hold the Heater but second time thru that's a bangin track.
We Will Fight is cool, I don't know why more people don't like it. I thought the chorus was a cool use of like college marching band music. also the hook for Miracle has grown on me
also, U God should be every track. especially Felt
