ya it is a pretty good record..not my fav Davis album but def. the shit
Bateman that Beach Boys shit is phenominal
agreed, "Kind Of Blue" is a totally amazing album, i played that many, many times. perfect to put on before you go to sleep and just let the sweet sounds sweep in over you. that album had such an amazing line-up too, Davis, Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley.
i suggest you check out "In A Silent Way" by Miles Davis next. it's also quite mellow but it has more fusion/rock elements and electric instruments on it. another classic... my favorite is "Bitches Brew" tho but you should definitely get aquainted with "In A Silent Way" first.
right now i'm listening to a jazz album from 2003 by guitarist and band leader Kurt Rosenwinkel, the album is actually fully co-produced by Q-Tip. great shit.
best Miles album is Miles Smiles i think or Nefertiti...ooooor Someday My Prince Will Come.
i still have alot of miles davis i havent heard. kind of blue and bitches brew were favorites of mine though. john coltrane is still my favorite jazz artist though. something about a love supreme really struck a cord with me. can't explain it. charles mingus was another favorite.
Giant steps is a mean album, and ya Mingus is fuckin ill.
