well technically the british started it all, as they were the ones occupying that region prior to essentially giving it to the jews so that they could form Israel. As soon as they left the region, all hell broke loose.
They are being mutually oppressive, it's just that our government covers their eyes and turns their backs when Israel is committing atrocities.

After decades of unresolved conflict, murder, and hatred - it goes both ways.

The Israelis shot themselves in the foot with this one. They broke ties with the only Muslim country that still had their backs.
