ok i said before that both of them are classics but prob not top 10 of 90's...but now im kinda changin my mind, although i dont think its a top 10, def top 20, but if someone put it in their top 10 i wouldnt argue
aquemeni, OB4CL, liquid swords, illmatic, IWW, reasonable doubt, ready to die, moment of truth, doggystyle, the chronic, hell on earth/infamous, uptown saturday night, midnight mauraders, stakes is high... the list goes on. no not top 10
id say top 20 of the 90s
LOL @ Chungsanity's list. I Stopped reading at Reasonable Doubt.
I wouldn't put either Jeru drop in my top 10 but wouldn't argue anybody putting them in or if an official top 10 was ever made and either made it I wouldn't begrudge.
god damn, I just listened to wrath of the math and it has to be the worst album from the golden age - just horrendous. I have no idea how the poll is in favor for Yes.
I put some effort into my post with integrity and I hope it could its view.
1. this disastrous sophomore album is a testament to how overrated premo is. he's the tupac of producing - he'll dish out classic efforts here and there, but then he's also got horrible, filler efforts that sound blatantly rushed and unmastered just to make your catalogue appear "cute and dandy" when really, the efficiency of quantity is greater than quality. that's the problem with wrath of the math, it atleast needed different producers for diversity - not saying that should always be the case, but premo simply could not carry this album alone.
2. Jeru is a subpar rapper who sounds like a rastafarian reggae artist trying to rap legitimately with the heavyweights, when he really has no distinctive swagger, mic presence, and flow. he's not the type of rapper for you to say "damn, that's jeru on the mic - I gotta bump this shit and amp myself up." he's far from it. he was decent on sun rises in the east, but his 2nd album was a complete turnoff. to be bluntly honest, I dont know how he was considered nice enough to even make albums, let alone a record deal.
3. the songs are horrible. SMH at premo sampling Big L's voice on black cowboy like Jeru deserves to be on the same track as harlem's finest, even through a sample.
and lmao @ not your average. easily the worst song from the 90's. the lyrics were laughable with horrible attempt at role-playing:
"Before long, we starts to undress and
With that I pulls out my pack of hats
She looks me dead in the eye and says "What's that?"
I said "Don't tell me you don't know what condoms is for"
She says "Yeah, but the average nigga'll love to hit it raw"
And I said
I'm not your average nigga
No I'm not your average nigga
You can't get me, I'm not your average nigga"
threadstarter was reaching real bad - Im truly not sure what your intentions were for this thread. sun rises in the east = top 10 is a reach, even though there were dope cuts on it (cant stop the prophet and d. original) his 2nd album is absolute blasphemy to the true 90's classics.
wrath of the math = 3/10.
the truth hurts. threadstarter must be highly respected on this site to even have the poll in favor of yes.
^ I think most of the cats on here know good hip hop when they hear it...
so you're basically saying I fabricated my honest review. why dont you stand up for the jeru stans and explain why wrath of the math is worthy to be in the 90's top 10 hiphop albums, or even be a classic album.
look at this man:

who is he, the father of al jefferson?
http://aljeffersonfans.com/files/200...-jefferson.jpg
he reminds me of those cats who's packin like a rasta in a weed spot. dont get it twisted though, I got respect for those reggae cats who blast bob marley joints on the streets.
jeru originally sounds like a reggae artist who wanted to change professions and become a hiphop artist. he didnt make a good transition right there.
