i don't know if i even want a "Cuban Linx III", it depends on his approach to it. Rae is gonna be Rae (and he sure as hell is capable of spitting all types of shit, altho it all boils down to the streets and drugs in the end), but if the 'CL' name mean he gonna take the same time and make sure everything is correct and getting nothing but A-list producers then yeah i'm all for it.
id like the good beat selection with rimes more in the immobilarity vien...the table, even the storytelling of friday or my favorite dread...
I agree to some extent but I also think you're not really being fair in your definition of versatile. How far back do you want to zoom out? If you boil it down enough, all jay-z raps about is his money; getting it, managing it, spending it, killing people over it, etc etc.
Rae is famous for his coke raps, and has built a career spanning multiple decades out of it, and I would agree he is the least versatile general, but to me, rap is about HOW you say it, not WHAT you say. At the end of the day, all Wu-Tang talked about for 5 years, between all of their albums was sex, drugs, murder, and radical islam. Its HOW they talked about them that made them famous.
And Ghost is versatile, no matter how you define it. Guy can do coke rap, tell any kind of story, abstract free-verse, and legitimate ballads.
If its not about love or death, what is it about?
telling rae to stop rapping about coke is like telling kobe to stop takin jumpers!!!!!!!!
not gonna happen!!!!!!!!!!!
shouldnt happen!!!!!!!!!!
why strip the best part of your game!??!?!?!!?
kool g rap can body niggas on wax for 25 years, and it never gets old... thats his bread and butter... yall want kool g to start rapping about the crumbling school system or something!?!??!?!
rae never came wack lyrically in his life... stories are vivid, and he has the juice he has now because of coke raps!!!!!!!!!!!
if you dont want rae to rap about coke anymore... youre a pale geek!!!!!!!!!!!
kill yourself before your parents get home!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Varying definitions of versatile or not, my point is that they do not do much more than their own style or image. My point was not that aren't vertsatile but that they are chosing not to be.
And that is fine by me. Seeing as rae is now 16 years in on his style people are bitching now is what I don't get. 'Fans' making threads about how rae can't be considered a legend til he diversifies his style? He became a legend the day he changed the face of hip hop with his style & swagger on ob4cl.
This is just the same old same old. A lot of wu fans can't seem to recognise the skill and influence of rae. Before it used to be that rae was a passenger on ob4cl even though the style of the album is so obvious. Now that pt 2 is out also come out the bitches to bitch once again.
rae has, besides Meth, the best voice in Wu-Tang and knows how to use it. ill wordplay, smooth delivery, he can rap it hardbody or kickin laid-back but he always hit homebase either way. y'all are complaining like Rae is some one-dimensional motherfucker which i hardly agree with, to quote that other guy "do you guys listen to music or do you just skim through it"?
yes, his raps are often influenced by coke, drugdealing and big money dreams but he got so many ways to talk about it - one of the best storytellers. and it's not the coke in itself that is interesting, but all the ocassions that surrounds the drugs, both from the dealers and the addicts point of view. Raekwon paints vivid paintings with his words describing the things that has formed him into who he is today. and alot of that was the streets, but even on "Cuban Linx II" he has tracks like 'Walk Wit Me'; leaving the hood, enjoying the good life!
there's alot of tracks on all his albums that talk about other shit than drugdealing altho that's the main thing of his image so let's keep it that way. i hope he keeps doing what he's doing best. "Cuban Linx II" is the closest thing to a 5 mic classic we've gotten in many years so to ask Chef to change something this late in the game is just stupidity.
what should he rap about faggot!?!?!?!?!?!?!
ive seen you seen posting OT in the anime section... should rae start spittin some dragonball z shit!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?
you fuckin butter soft son, i hope you get lifted off the concrete with an uppercut!!!!!!!!!!!
fuckin magma geekboy....only on wu corp!!!!!!!!!!
subject matter aside, rae doesn't write wack verses, 100% of the time his shit is at least solid. asking for an amazing range in subject matter when he gives you that kind of consistency is bitch made. it's like complainin over your free hot fudge sundae cuz it ain't have bananas. just be thankful that he's not full blown wack like 85% of the rappers in his genre. or if it's too much for you to take, go listen to someone else.
I say we need some more Cuban Linx...but the "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" name should be relatable to high quality shit so Rae should get on his A-Game....
coke up in the dolla bill, holla for real we make it happen street criminal's of staten.
