The 00's still had shitty bands like Arcade Fire, The White Stripes, The Shins, and a lot of others. Modest Mouse also became bad after The Lonesome Crowded West.
I didn't know that you were the stupid of the forum but after your three last posts in this thread, i finally realized it. Sorry for the misconception
I'm not saying the entire 00's was shitty. It had some good stuff.
All these decades were amazing. Each decade musical output has snowballed. The most recent decade was easily one of the best. Out of the options listed i guess i'd have to say the 50s is the weakest. With the 60s or 80s or 00s being the strongest.
smh, you guys are fools. Saying the 80s and 2000s. There has been more great music made in the last 15 years than ever. All of you either don't appreciate music across all genres or haven't bothered to look hard enough for the good stuff.
Do you honestly believe, that with the advent of synthesisers, anyone making music using acoustic instrumentation just said "fuck it, this is the 80s, we have to start using machines"? I bet you don't like Prince :nonono:
Name some seminal albums from the 50s that aren't Jazz... If you happen to not like Jazz, Lounge, Bluegrass, Country or the beginnings of Rock, the 50s is a pretty lackluster period for music. I guess the 50s was the start of soul music to an extent, but i much prefer the soul from the 60s and 70s. I listen to some Jazz from the 50s but that's it. And i'd say i'm more likely to listen to jazz albums from the 60s.
Suggest some that aren't Jazz.
Who gives a shit about "the presentation of musicians"? Did you see what musicians were wearing in the 70s? The 80s was great.

the 2000s was the worst.
I think 2011 was a great year for hip hop music, probably the best since, say 2004. So i think it looks good for this decade for hip hop at least, which is 98% of what i listen to.
I think a lot of the responses in the poll are based on the age group of the respondent. Generally, people who grew up on '90s music think the 2000s suck (usually based on their take on how hip hop changed). And generally, these ppl love '60s and '70s music because of how it inspired great later music.
Their take on the '80s is ambiguous because they have some nostalgia for this while also agreeing with the hatred for the '80s that came from the 60's and 70's musicians and audience.
Most ppl don't like the music that follows their teens and twenties since they are overwhelmed with their favorite music and don't have room to take in new shit. Also, any innovation that moves from their formative years' music is seen as somehow sacrilege.
The person who said that every decade has wack music is right, especially since the growing corporate control of music in the '50s but bubblegum goes back to the early 20th century at least.
From Best To worse:
1. 70s- hard rock/heavy metal(Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, AC/DC, KISS, Queen, The Who, Pink Floyd). I don't really like disco.
2. 80s-Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, N.W.A, Ice-T, Public Enemy
3. 90's-Wu-Tang Clan, NAS, Notorious BIG, Kool G.Rap, Big Pun, Big L, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube.
4. 60's-The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix
5. 50's- Chuck Berry
6. 00s
I would've at least named some punk and alternative rock bands for the 80s and 90s if I was you.
only group worth bothering with is Chic and the artists they produced
00s - Little Brother, Cannibal Ox, Kanye West, Doom, MIA, Killer Mike, Dilla, Def Jux, Clipse etc.
There was stuff, that being said i spent about 4 years of that decade mostly listening to stuff from the 90s.
@dumbo i think what you said was interesting
80's
I hate a lot of 80's shit.........
seldomly do I hear 80's music, from ANY genre and say it's a good jam.
With exceptions to Michael Jackson, RUN DMC, Metallica, and a handful of others I can't think of right now, the rest is garbage.....
especially glam rock where dudes wore more eye-liner than porn stars,

The 2000's gave birth to:
Justin Bieber
Miley Cyrus
Lady Gaga
Tyler the over rated
B.o.b
Soulja Boy
Lil B
Lil Flip
Oj da juiceman
Avenged Sevenfold
Wacka Flocka
Gucci mane
Do we REALLY need to think of which decade was worst? Eminem started in the 90s, so 2000s can't claim him.
Except Tyler, Lil B, Waka Flocka Flame, and Gucci Mane are good.
Lady Gaga isn't that bad.
This thread is full of fags like a gang from OZ.

honestly theyre all good I used to think the 70s then I got into P-Funk Black Sabbath Stooges, etc. for a while the 80s but their is a ton of dope hip hop even pop post punk etc from then, the 50s had amazing pop, jazz the 60s is were amazing the 90s have the worst pop but some of the best rock, hip hop, and underground punk/hardcore, 2000's had a ton of great indie, hip hop and shit
The 80's is definitely the most overrated
madonna and michael jackson. two of the best pop singers. :)
heavy metal is probably the worst genre of all time
and punk rock is the greatest genre of all time
i think 70s is seriously the best decade because it doesn't have the shitty heavy metal like the 80s and it's when punk rock really started
70s > 80s > 60s > 90s > 00s > 50s
i barely listen to anything from the 50s anymore
i would rather listen to cam'ron, lil wayne, and gucci mane than a lot of the jazz from the 50s. the 60s was a better time for jazz because of avant-garde jazz which i prefer more.
there was never an above-average heavy metal band in the history of music
i've listened to bathory, mayhem, and dissection before bruh
black metal is the "best" heavy metal sub genre
of course they are
they killed progressive rock for good and that's the best thing that ever happened for the good of music. if it wasn't for them we would've had pink floyd clone bands in the 80s. and pink floyd were only good in the 60s.
then nirvana, another band obsessed with punk culture, killed another shitty genre, hair metal.
too bad they never released an album during their prime. it's such a shame because they were pretty good and more people should know about them. nyc punk movement is the best there is still.
mine is television for us punk. the raincoats for uk punk.
Pink Floyd only good in the 60's... what the fuck am I reading!? Their best albums were in the 70's. This is objectively true.
Also, there were still many prog rock bands in the 80's. Some really good ones too. IQ, Eloy, Marillion, Yes, Camel, Genesis etc.
That would be MC5
That's not their first album.
Don't know about the Stooges, but MC5 were definitely punk avant la lettre.
How is this not punk? It has all the ingredients of punk. Fast, loud, short and rude.
Gotta be the 80s, lots of shit stuff came out that decade.
syd barrett-era pink floyd > david gilmour/roger waters-era pink floyd
the piper at the gates of dawn is their best album
and their early singles compilation is probably the best thing they ever released
meddle was their first "prog rock" album and probably the best one after syd barrett left
you're insane if you think pink floyd got better after syd barrett left because he was a genius and there's only a few musicians who was as creative as he was
you mean their most sold albums were in the 70s is objectively true thanks to the united states
the piper at the gates of dawn is one of the greatest albums of all time
only in the uk did pink floyd get attention in the 60s
no one in the united states paid attention to pink floyd back in the 60s
