^^interesting review, thanks
Its dumb, when they do that I just wait for the full 10 or whatever and binge them anyway.
They have done numerous studies on this, and more people prefer the single episode at a time format. Binging is more for the unemployed and people that don't have much of a social life in general.
It seems like this is only true because theres a lot of old people who are used to it that way and binge watching has only been possible for about 10 years. How can you do numerous studies and prove anything concrete about new technology? You probably have to wait a while longer to have a good idea. Also its barely true, its like 52/48.
It doesn't make any logical sense that it would be more convenient for somebody to watch an episode a week rather than watching them when they have a free evening either. At least give people the choice, if there actually are people who want to wait a week between episodes they can still do that.
haha I find that impossible to believe
surveyor: "so you just watched an episode of your favorite show, do you want to see what happens next right now?"
- "I think waiting seven days to resolve that cliff-hanger will be much more enjoyable" said nobody ever
I'm pretty sure advertisers/ money from advertisements are the only people benefiting from weekly episode air times
there's already 3 episodes available
lol, they want to stretch the amount of time they can make money off it. I can see their perspective though. Imagine working on something for 2 years for a dicc head to watch in 7 hours and give you a 3.2 on IMDb. Fucc that. Conversation about it goes away after a month.
But everyone episode now gets the spotlight and time that an entire series would have gotten before. Though I think it will reduce the enjoy-ability because shows designed for binging can have more nuance. in 7 days I'm only going to remember the bare bones of the previous episode.
Popa Wu deserves an Oscar
tsa, aren't you mentally retarded though? if you can't remember the last episode, you probably shouldn't be left out on your own in society
For being people who's income depends on publicity, the other wu members sure are dumb and useless. There are 9 people in a group and only Rza and Method Man (ironically, the richest two) understand that you have to promote things.
lol true. I mean I'm sure late night shows arent lined up to showcase Masta Killa, but they could all do social media campaigns
I seen the three episodes and I thought it would be more close to the facts. Rae tryin' to get Ghostface killed lol. The actors seem not to feel their roles to me, they can't rap and the acapellas they rap sound awful to me but if it wasn't about Wu I would enjoy it (that bad actin' tho). BUT, it's been only 3 episodes, maybe it'll be better in the next ones
^ yeah I know the story but in the show it looks so corny. I kind of laughed at it. As I said, we'll see the next episodes and maybe it'll be better
cant wait to watch this
The acting is on par with cable access
Ok, I watched initial 3 episodes last night via You Tube. I find the series kinda corny, reminds me of cheap Hallmark shows, though i like animated parts as well as acting of guys that played Dirty and Raekwon.
Power's character is like a watered down Stringer Bell, whereas practically all Wu members (excluding ODB and Rae) were portrayed in amateurish way. The worst is definately Ghostface. I think that guy never saw a Ghostface interview let alone listened to his albums.
I guess the plot is true cause at least 10-15 persons of the Wu's inner circle are actual producers of this project though.
Accurate and on point... "like the nose of a marlin."
Lol. "Watered down Stringer Bell."
It would have been great if it had the tone and production values of The Wire.
That being said, it ain't half bad to watch. Putting my snobbishness aside, im enjoying it so far.
A lot of first seasons across all genres, are often disjointed and many hit shows have taken a season or two to really find its feet.
.
loved this, especially the parts where they are crafting songs, I play haze
just watched the 1st episode. Genuinely good
considering this is on a streaming service that I'm sure is less popular than both netflix and amazon prime, and cast with all unknown actors for the most part, I'd say the reviews have been pretty good without having seen an episode yet
The most recent episode is really good. Ghost is getting a lot of light as a character.
Ghost giving money to Gloria ('Gloria can I borrow some food I'm dead broke') was a nice touch.]
PS. that theme music is classic RZA.
Getting tired of the kids doing interviews and having not fucking clue what wutang is lol. What a bunch of fucking weirdos. The only one that gives sensible answers is the girl that plays Rza's sister.
Cant believe they got RNS in this shit lol
they got officer brown too
the hulu series is doope
Are there any links for DL out there?
I think there's way too much emphasis on Ghost. Especially for a show with potentially 9 main characters. We've seen 0 of dirty's story which is dumb in the long term because he's going to die and plot wise they have to make it matter. He's just like a floating commentator. For as interesting a person as method man is and how important his 'interestingness' was to their success, they sure as hell never show him. And they're playing up the 'conflict' between them way too much. The fact that many of them were friends before wutang is important and every time I saw a conflict scene this last episode (which was an unnecessary episode) I got the 'ok i get it' feeling. Why would Raekwon come and talk shit to Method Man about how he's making money selling drugs when Method Man has a job and Raekwon is sleeping on a roof lol. I know they want retroactively force in that method man was some sort of unrealistic dreamer thinking he could be a rapper but it comes off completely illogically, especially since Raekwon himself starts the series rapping lol. I think the actually interesting plot points (ODB's decent into drug use and insanity, and the conflict to come within the group, the personalities of the members) are all being subdued by bad plotting choices
You can tell it's from Rza's perspective and they want to emphasize the payoff when he brings them together, but it shouldn't be done to the point that all of their personalities are 'embattled ghetto nigga'. I think the guy playing Ghost is a good actor who has never seen ghost face in his life. Ghost's personality is a major staple in hip hop as a whole, it's really weird to me that he's just playing Fredro Star. At first he was cool but now he needs to chill the fuck out because we get it, you're an embattled ghetto nigga.
The girl playing Rza's sister is good, the Divine character is was more alpha than I could ever imagine Divine's actual crossed ass but I'll roll with it. The highlight is still the kid playing Raekwon and the criminally under utilized character playing dirty. I have a REALLY hard time believing ODB was just casually hanging out and reacting to things as opposed to setting the tone of wherever he was..but I guess it's hard to write 'odb' in a linear story line.
And the way they're rapping is fucking annoying. Not only are these kids wack AF, when they're capable of sounding like they have heard rap music before, the sound like modern NY rappers. The song ghost did sounds fucking ridiculous for it's time and for ghost because it's literally a 2002 Onyx comeback song.
Also, where the fuck is the Gza? Wouldn't it be more compelling if you have Rza being an embattled ghetto nigga due to his brother's influence, then his cousin comes in and shows him an escape through music? I know they're trying to force it that Rza just loves music and believes in it, but why would you neglect the 'why' if the 'why' is also the story of another important member? The whole 'All In Together Now' story, going to other boroughs and battling, then going back home to complete shit would show why Rza is in the mind frame they're trying to say he's in as opposed to them having him make lame dialogue blerts about how he believes in music.
Also, knowing that dirty will eventually die, you think that would be something they wouldn't neglect so that there's an actual payoff when it happens. Method man didn't want to be in the streets and was extremely proud of have a lame job at the Statue of Liberty because it gave him a sense of self worth. he has said this a million times. The showed this by having Dave East's olmec ass in a manager uniform then in crutches talking about 'i gotta move in with rebel'. Ok.
which they would have had time to do if they leaned off ghost and divines nuts. You dont think fans would be more interested in Gza than Rza's mom's sister? lol
^ GZA was shown in the third episode I think and he'll be in the next ones.
By the way, the show is supposed to be based on some facts from Wu history but it's not biographical show (as far as I'm aware) so I stopped giving shit about the story lol.
I'm not really into the story for the accuracy. More so the actual story telling it's self. The actual story has elements that would help the storytelling of the fictional show, like Gza's involvement, not developing other ppls stories, focusing too much of them 'beefing' and not focusing so much on ghost and divine. You can show trying to become a rapper is a pipe dream better than randomly having people that also rap shit on you when you're trying to rap lol. It's good but I'm seeing a brick wall ahead if they don't pivot away from a couple of the narrative issues they're moving towards.
