Never did I say anyone just uses filters, its more to it than that.... and thats the problem up here, catz make TOOO many Boom-Bap records and everybody's altogether. Everybody's looking out for the next man, dick-riding... always coming at me like "Prime, fall back... Prime this, Prime that. I'm gonna be straight out honest. Alot of the shit I hear has been strictly bullshit. I'm not a perfectionist. I'm not the ILLEST in the world. But you couldn't even name 2 cats up here that REALLY could bring it to me, all A-Game to the table. Secondly, I barely see anyone being truthful about alot of the shit that gets dropped up here. Everybody's sayin "that was dope.. hot banga.. ill banga".... get REAL... you wonder why alot of people stopped coming on here? They hear the same shit OVER and OVER and OVER... it's like nothing changes with the beats up here. I come off COCKY because thats me. I'm not like you dudes along with Beatjitzu and A WHOLE LOT OF OTHERS who marinate all over RZA's dick... I say the shit I say because I wanna hear some better shit. This is the illest crew in the entire world, right?.... SHOW IT!!! It's cats like Ozmosis that keep me around, because everytime I hear his new shit, it always amazes me and he FURTHERS his craft. He's not stuck in a world of kung-fu flicks and chamber music, he's not just Jazz samples and the ordinary. Lol and you wanna talk about be humble... smh.. As a member of the crew, I'm addressing alot of shit that MANY are afraid to say... I can come off as a MASTER PRODUCER because I know alot more shit than you. I don't brag about being the illest with a FL Studio like the SP users do. I'm not with that shit... Never needed to use hardware, pointless to me. But thats what everyone is using to make their shit. Thats not what this thread is for. Im heavy on software so I'm guiding new cats rather than letting them fall victim to everything else up here. Prime man i'm gonna call you sometime either today or tommorow so keep an ear out for that, also i've been thinking that for the project we're doing maybe you could send me the beats chopped up (section/instrument by section/instrument) so that i can make the mix iller, bring out the drums so it matches the vocals and shit...if we both put our minds to this it will be ill, i'm working on some beats too ;)...

so you make the beat right, but you chop up each section and send it to me so i can mix it, i was listening to Cuban Linx for a while and the way that it's mixed ( as with every record) the each section of the beat is chopped up and mixed with the vocals so send me a file with the percussion, then the melody, etc...

Lol everything is recorded once and I erase everything afterward... then I practice my mixing with Windows Movie Maker and the quality of my new shit is better than anything I've heard or done yet.. but I need to find a GOOOD GOOD mixer, thats my only problem because I'm used to mixin whole tracks and it's harddd but worth the time at the end... but Idk what to do lmao.. I have none of the samples used.. can't even remember which songs I got them from...

I am not going to lie, part of the reason why I dint drop a beat for the 3rd beat battle was because all of the bullshit that went on in the sign in and submit thread...as a matter of fact, I dont even think I will sign up for another one. Last round was a fucking joke...no offence to TECH for winning...but it was...not that the beats were bad, but just all the BS. (PROPS TO PLEX for keeping it alive though).

Prime, you claim to be an expert or whatever at FL, but yo I havent really anything spectacular from you. I use FL (so do a bunch of us), and I dont need instructions on how to do what I do... I do shit my way. How have I gotten better? Good criticism by some cats on this board that really have helped me develop. My catalog my not blow you away, but you can ask people and they will either tell you is ill, or its solid. All your beats kinda sound the same...yeah its your style, but your talking about growing, and that you havent IMO. You honestly really try to shit on like 300 of us saying that only 2 or 3 got it like that, so how the fuck you expect others to react??

Some producers here might not take it as serious as I do, but to me some of the cats on this board I can consider fam...and yo, you are shitting on my fam. Arrogance is a big no like I ve said before, especially on here. I am not dissing you, but you are not near the best producer on this board...do you have talent? I would say you do, but what makes you a least respected producer is the arrogance. TAKE IT PERSONAL...

Speaking on my beats, nothing's EVER the same. Drums and all. Most of the beatmakers up here are EXTREMELY talented. I never took any credit from them for being credit towards WHAT they do in the outcome of their material. But in areas, it's cool to be influenced by legends like Muggz and Prince Paul and RZA but stem from their elements. I'm not anyone's "God" up here, nobody's a Killa Bee up here. Not exactly saying everyone is thoroughly duplicating the Wu sound, but it's between that and some originality is slacking. I never drop anything "amazing" or "spectacular" because I use those kind of beats towards either albums or mixtape joints. AGAIN, I'm not dissing any producer... whether or not they're fam to you up here. Least respected producer up here?.. Fine with me Lol.. On the flip side, I respect what you're saying Chek. I made this thread to TEACH others about music and the importance of certain aspects because just reading something or doing it isn't second criteria. Especially with FL, it's complicated when you're first learning it. People have MILLIONS of questions, thats why I decided to make this thread. Not to argue with anyone. The strings on the Vasco beat were composed but it perfectly matched the melody.. beats with no samples that you would swear were samples?.. Precedents (the beat done for White Mouse) on my page.. no samples, the little samples in it were done by his homeboy but the beat itself, the keys and reverbed organs were all original..

Again, before I continue this segment..
I wanna let every Beat maker/Producer that’s taking guidance from me know that I’m not doing this to innovate YOUR styles. I’m doing this to guide every beginner, whether you’re just sampling or entirely just starting, the fundamentals of music and various music software programs (how to use them, the important factors, etc..)

Just started making music?

Don’t rush and become so hasty to learn overnight because it’s not so simple. It takes years to master the craft of making music. Also, don’t feel ashamed to start out using software. Its been my weaponry for almost 10 years and people refuse to believe I have any form of software. I can’t speak upon Hardware that the professionals and others may use, but I will inform you about software. First and foremost, as a beginner, start out with FL Studio (which I have recommended over the time). With FL, get a feel for the drum kit that’s already provided. Get accustomed to loading the instruments, how to load them and other parts that will help you in the process. Personally, it’s the best way to learn the basics of everything. Nothing serious!! The first few months of making your music, just play with the program. Learn the instruments, what a “bar” is and how to change the pitch. All of the simple tactics. Very difficult at first, especially if you’re just learning, but you’ll get the hang of it.

Now…
If you’re looking for my advice before starting anything. You would like to be a Hip-Hop producer? Examine some of the work of the legends. This doesn’t necessarily mean just remain with the range of “Rap”. Listen to everything else out there. But here’s my point. Delivering a “refreshing” style is everyone’s objective. I will say this out of all honesty because it’s just going to happen regardless of what I say afterward. You WILL start off making beats that will sound typical and ordinary. But that’s where you’ll be experimenting more and more later in time. However, here are the primary Hip-Hop producers with large catalogues that are very distinctive. Examine and make YOUR WORK different and open a pristine road of sounds and styles. ONCE MORE, listen to these styles and remember them every time you make a beat. This way, you’ll know what’s safe to make your own. Word of advice, DO NOT and NEVER EVER mimic any existing styles. Set your own standards and experiment. Practice. Practice. Practice. In the process of sampling?

Keep doing what you’re doing. FL has a lot of methods that will take months (technically years) to figure out BUT that’s for you to learn yourself. However, I would like to put everyone onto a few music programs that allow you to sample. JUST for you all to feel comfortable with the simplicity and complexity.

Before I get into that…
ALWAYS make sure you’re picking fluent samples. The best samples are always the ones you’ll have to mix and bring better quality out of. That’s double the time and greater results. Then again, you may look at it the other way around but either way, dig deep into it. Sampling isn’t just an art, it’s a religion. Think about that.

FL is pretty much the overall studio piece that most beat makers and producers use primarily. But I’ll feel free enough to tell you about very few of the other music-making programs out there.

::Tracktion::

Most likely, it’s used for recording vocals in general (and I will agree, it’s the BEST program for recording, I put it over Pro Tools and anything else personally). I recommend Tracktion more than anything else because, one, it’s not an half-assed program. It gives you that professional feel. Somewhat more complicated than FL and has excellent mixing quality. I started out with this, using loops and all kinds of other things to start out sampling. This program taught me the fundamentals of almost everything I know, recording-wise. So, if you’re looking for something aside from FL, download this program. It’s called Tracktion!!

::Tuareg::

A little more complex than Tracktion but the results are phenomenal. Learn the techniques yourself and you’ll thank me later.

Overall, FL will continuously give you the most ideas and has more than anything out there. So, it’s practically up to yourselves to just go through different testings but get just as much from what you use as much as you put into your work. No, you’re not getting a recording deal for this. But you’ll be one of the billions in this world that will be respected for making your own roots. Criticism will go both ways at whatever you do, musically. I’m only saying these things so you all will know ahead of time. You’ll have the pros. You’ll have the cons. All you can do is increase your production skill.

::Loading Plugins Into FL Studio?::

1. Go to “My Computer”
2: Click on your C: drive
3: Click Program Files
4: Look for the folder “Imagine-Line”
5: Click on FL Studio (6,7,8... Whichever you may have)
6: Go to Plugins
7: Click VST and drag your dll extension files in the folder
8. Open up FL Studio
9. On the menu at the top, click on Channels
10. Click on Add More..
11. Select the plugins you want
12. Go to the bottom where it says “Refresh”
13. Exit and return to the FL board
14. Open a new sampler and right-click Replace or click Insert
15. Select your plugin and it’s all you from there
