When it first came out, I thought it was 4/5.
Now I think it's 3.5/5. On par with The W and Iron Flag.
At this point, I'm not sure Wu could put out another great group album. They're all on separate pages, and ODB is dead. The golden era has been over for ten years.

I was hyped when it came out, and I think it made me overrate it at first.
It is weird, because I pretty much like all of the songs, except Starter, which was crap.
And I don't think Life Changes was that great, but i don't always skip it.
And Stick Me For My riches was the highlight for me.
But the album just seems so disjointed. I haven't really listened to it much after the first month it was out, but it is still ok.
I thought U-God and Meth put up really solid performances. I thought Cappa and Rae sucked ass.
There wasn't enough Ghost.
Either way, it is an album of mostly good songs that just doesn't have a cohesive feel or flow.

i never thought the album was awful, just a few of the tracks are. on every other wu album the production style flows through the record. rza had too much of a mix of styles. i think i only listen to gun will go on a regular basis, the rest of the album is old news. along with all the solos that have dropped in the last couple years. i think if i hadn't followed their music for such a long time and i just started listening to them now i probably wouldn't think much of them if i judged them by this album. i'd just think this guy rae and meth need to go solo. cause they murked that record. to all the rae haters and people who say meth is the weakest can shut it. they proved themselves on this record

i sorta did grow on me tbh, 1st time i heard it i was like, damn that was dissapointing but on the 2nd listen and so on, i found the nice-ness on this album, some of the underlying beats r nice as hell!!
on one hand RZA created some experimental gems, but on the other RZA kicked up a big stink with his choices and some didnt pay off.

the real weak point to me remains some of the guitar work, which is just too much at times. especially on deck's verses (unpredictable and windmill). really out of place.
other weaknesses : the beat & chorus for life changes, sunshine as a whole, beat for get em out the way pa, and rapping on tar pit (kinda offbeat).
other than that, i think its good shit.

Ya'll really believe this is Wu-Tang's best album, then ya'll really have lowered your standards for beats and lyrics. I respect all opinions but I must state mine. The lyrics were solid, not on par with about 3 of their albums and the beats weren't even hip-hop sounding (Most of them weren't). It did have some good tracks here and there but This is far from their best work. I understand most of ya'll listen to rock music and those other types of music genre, but for a strictly hip-hop fiend this isn't it.

All in all, I liked the album, but wouldn't call it a classic.
I thought rae and deck both sounded boring, like rae wasn't even trying, and deck fell off hard.
I respect what it tried to do, but my main complaints are that it wasn't cohesive at all, had no flow as an album, lacked energy, and you could tell the members weren't really in to it.
However, on an individual basis, I enjoy all of the tracks, with the exception of Starter.
So, I would say it was a good album, and musically, was very interesting.
However, I certainly would not put it on the level of 36 or Forever, as those were classics.
Hip-hop was born from rock and all types of music. That's the essence of hip hop. That's why we like Wu-Tang, cos it's not boring hip-hop like any other typical hip-hop.Quote:
