i think the main issue is that believing interaction with the teachings of Jesus Christ degrades your quality of life, and all other options are immediately superior.

i have been atheist, taoist, and christian, and Jesus Christ's teachings trumped them all.

I don't think the teachings of Jesus are idiocy even if it comes across that way, but I do think there is a difference between historical truth and what the Bible says. To think that the mythology and symbology of other religions of the time didn't influence the writings and the stories of the bible is, in my own opinion, being naive. My own pursuit is trying to find which is which
and where those influences came from, if for nothing else, because they're interesting.

I don't need to believe that Jesus walked on water or turned water into wine to know he was right to say that you should have the upmost respect for God and treat others as you want to be treated. The love that is the foundation for those teachings is something I'll never abandon. I believe in those principles whole-heartedly and always will.

But how many preach it without walking it? Zooruka here, as an example, is probably the biggest bible thumper here but at the same time is a roman catholic. In being a roman catholic, he accepts the infallibility of the pope (an idea I find to be complete bullshit) and if you probe deep enough I think you'll find that as a certainty he thinks that all other denominations of christianity are wrong and he might even go so far as to think you're going to hell for it. How Christian are those thoughts really? :r When I was working in the mall people used to come in there shopping dressed in their Sunday best and then chastise me for working on Sundays. :lmao: Well, I'm glad you like to keep things holy and all but don't you think this store would be closed if you and everyone else didn't feel so compelled to go shopping right now? :? Hypocrites more than anythings else is the reason I absolve myself of the Christian label. God knows what's up and that's really all that matters.

On a side note I have many more problems with the roman catholic church specifically than I do with christianity in general which is why I give zooruka A LOT more shit about his beliefs that I do to someone such as yourself Koolish. I don't think that's always the case though. There's a church in the small town I'm from that has locked the black community down. The head preacher lives on top of the hill in a three story house (maybe the only one in town), they've got a fleet of like twenty cars (including a bentley) and you know because they mark 'em CHOP (christian house of prayer) #___. They've got their own credit union even. It's wild. From a homeboy of mine attending their service he says they're REAL insistent when passing around the donation plate and I believe it when you look at all the luxuries they've bathed themselves in. It's my personal opinion that preachers should be more humble than that and when they're not its because they're corrupt. Maybe that's not always the case but it sure seems that way. I will say that the base level attendants of a church are probably mostly good-hearted people but keep your eye on the preacher. "ooooooooh Rev ain't right" :nonono: you gotta watch what they walk to really know who you're dealing with.

Jesus says in the Bible, if you forget all else, love and respect God with all your heart and treat others as you want to be treated.

All else on top of that imo is self-righteous fluff. The catholic church for so long had hold of these books and for the longest time they didn't even want you to read 'em. Until I can read hebrew and see the original text, then there's a lot in the bible that I simply don't trust. It has nothing to do with my mistrust of God but my mistrust of people in power, especially when that power is absolute. How convenient that a power structure has this book that tells you all your rewards come to you after you die and please kneel when you pray as we have an empire to build upon your back. They don't actually say it but actions speak louder than words.

no offense 2 u Visions, but in order to discuss Christ/christianity etc you need to have basic knowledge. this is not pointed @ you...this is 4 everybody here who think that Pope is the absolute leader of the beleiving people worldwide, especially Christians...as i told you earlier this week, hundreds of millions of christians don't reckognize him as a leader, mostly eastern, Orthodox Christians. Catholicism and its ways/doctrine was established in 1054.

look maybe some books are a bit expensive but what is the differance between shelling out $85 for a religious book (that may in fact help the person) or a dan brown novel... non religious books are just as expensive if not more expensive...off course these preachers want to turn a profit just like any viable business wants to do thats only natural and I dont think GOD would condem that provided that the sale is fair.... Also It`s up to the viewer or congregation if they would like to purchase the material on offer there not forced to...the price of the material doesn`t automatically show a lack of humility or greed !!!! We dont know how much It cost to manufacture the book or the other religious material and you can`t be sure that the price doesn`t reflect the cost.
