RZA Announces New Album Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues

Rza thinks hip hop is inferior to everything, that's the actual issue. Dude was very underexposed growing up as most poor americans are, and is having a hard time putting things in context. Rza doesn't acknowledge his L's as L's and he's visibly in a cloud of delusion. If he makes shitty music it's shitty because the listener is shitty not him. He's firmly convinced that the issue with wutang is the other group member's opinions and not his desire to make weed plates for russell crow.

This imbecile literally came out at the height of black lives matter saying that black kids should stop wearing hoodies. AND HE FUCKING SELLS HOODIES AND VAMPIRE TEETH TO BLACK KIDS LOOOOL Cher? Nigga, what? LOL

^lolz I think rza's hip hop days ended many years ago. It's like he's just faking it now. I think he should just drop it n focus on whatever other shit he's into. Same could probably b said for gza, except that he basically HAS just moved on, as far as I can tell. Hopefully he still gives Dark matter his all tho. I think he will. He's def not rushing it, lolz.

The Ghost helmed Clan LP has a shot at being very good. The snippet that leaked sounded modern but not contrived and it wasn't leaning on any classic Wu sound. Ghost and MK sounded live on it.

I quite liked 8D and ABT, but its clear that the group needs a shot in the arm and a break from RZAs dictatorship. Also its asinine to keep trying to recreate a classic record. No great album you can think of was trying to copy something else so trying to use 36 Chambers, Forever or anything else as a blueprint is never going to succeed.

also, i agree with your second paragraph completely. 8D and ABT, both sounded horrible to me upon first listen, went back and listened a couple times later on and like them both, certainly not the early classics full of bangers, but not bad at all. Also, you couldnt be more correct about trying to use the older albums as blueprints for newer albums. It just wont work as planned. Look at Outkast for example, they have had massive success and one thing they have done is re-invented themselves on EVERY album, and have had great success doing it. At the same time, i would've loved another album like SouthernPlayalistic.... or even ATLiens, i just dont see it happening and being successful today, and dont think it would've worked so much back then either...

also, i would like to add that i think Rza can still make dope hip hop. he hasnt lost anything, he still has the abilities and know how. But its all in what he wants to make, what he envisions. Just because its not what certain people may want to hear or expect from him, doesnt mean its wack and no good(not saying everything he does is dope either, dont get confused). He has evolved, many wu-tang fans have not, and thats a fact...

When you say "this album" do you mean "The Saga Continues" as RZA did exec produce that and rapped on it?

Definitely open and interested for the Ghost exec produced WTC album but still want RZA involvement as a rapper and maybe 1-2 production credits like a skit or
a bonus track. Curious to see if someone else can form Voltron and be the Abbot of a WTC album! Hopefully it comes SUUUUUUUUUner than later...

Can you confidently tell me that A Better Tomorrow is a better album sonically than Liquid Swords. You just said he evolved. Can you confidently say that again with an example

evolving doesnt exactly mean its gonna be better

but if you cant see how rza went from taking full samples, to keyboard era bobby digi stuff, to his new live sounds as evolving idk what to tell ya

to me he did a much better with the live sound on 8d and the mcs let him down overall..... i dont even think he uses a beat machine anymore.. prolly writing down music and having it all played live and cutting in protools. abt has its moments but its overproduced like a mother

i dont even really think the beats themselves were the problem on abt.. it was more the song structures (how many songs were revolved around a corny hook with everyone rhyming about the same subject instead of the wild abstract shit they usualy did...) preachers daughter...mistaken identity...never let go..felt.. the same formula over and over. those songs are all similar to starter from 8d.. sticking to a topic and with a ehhhhh hook. its just boring and not the explosive unpredictability the wu has been known for. and again the rappers let him down even more than on 8d.

just like how he overproduced unpredictable with that wack dexter wiggles and electric guitar he added that wack disney singing to miracle (which i dont hate.. helps with the "broaodway"/opera/play vibe).
that and he was just replaying old loops for tracks like wu tang reunion and ron oneil when if he woulda sampled them it woulda sounded better (kinda like the ron oneil single which has the original sampled version and sounds much better).

a lot of unneeded singing was on that album that took people out of it.

but if anything i think it was the clan who let rza down as a lot of their verses were lackluster but the album had rays of the old wu genius with "a better tomorrow ii" , "ruckus in b minor","crushed egos", "miracle" and "necklace".

idk who okd nathaniel on that album. tekitha is on a better tomorrow ii... replace nathaniel with her and i think those songs are better

When RZA came in the game Wus sound was radically different from everything else, there was never a predictable Wu sound. The things that we call the "Wu sound" now was just RZA being weird and creative.

I think saying he did or didn't evolve or got worse is ignoring the fact that hes always had a leftfield approach to producing Hip Hop. Whatever you might expect, hes going to do the opposite and I really don't think his MO changed that much over the years. Its less effective now, but thats just like any artist whos been around for a while. I'll take the restless creativity and occasional brilliance of ABT over the solid but basically forgettable productions on Saga Continues any day.

Saga continues and ABT a both forgettable and lame. There's no point making excuses for Rza because Pharrel is just as unconventional and gets far less complaints from anyone. Rza isn't good at make beats at all, the ship sailed. Pharrel has been in hip hop as a producer longer than Rza, also scores movies and gets into all the shit Rza wants to get into etc. Rza has bad taste and his too deep in his own delusion to self correct. Not saying Rza has to be Pharrel but stop making excuses for him, he's lame.

Dude did a PSA on why you shouldn't wear hoodies and spent 3 solid years in zorro mask. I think his funny that you think the only alternative to ABT is Saga continues lol. We can make all the excuses we want but Rza is going to go on stage and not perform any of his evolved music for a reason lol.
