also, i agree with your second paragraph completely. 8D and ABT, both sounded horrible to me upon first listen, went back and listened a couple times later on and like them both, certainly not the early classics full of bangers, but not bad at all. Also, you couldnt be more correct about trying to use the older albums as blueprints for newer albums. It just wont work as planned. Look at Outkast for example, they have had massive success and one thing they have done is re-invented themselves on EVERY album, and have had great success doing it. At the same time, i would've loved another album like SouthernPlayalistic.... or even ATLiens, i just dont see it happening and being successful today, and dont think it would've worked so much back then either...
also, i would like to add that i think Rza can still make dope hip hop. he hasnt lost anything, he still has the abilities and know how. But its all in what he wants to make, what he envisions. Just because its not what certain people may want to hear or expect from him, doesnt mean its wack and no good(not saying everything he does is dope either, dont get confused). He has evolved, many wu-tang fans have not, and thats a fact...
