its not a matter of not liking mayweather.....but im not going to anoint this guy the best ever and praise him when he is ducking the top competition of his era.
What would Ali be without Frazier and Foreman???? Just another loudmouth.
mayweather has beat a lot of good people though it is not like roy jones were he only beat 2 good people and won't give a rematch to one of them (sorry tito is not one of the two and either is tarver)
at the end of the day, if mayweather beats cotto marginally, people will say he needs to refight him etc etc...
people hate to call him legend because hes a prick outside the ring.
im far from dickriding this guy, when hes clearly at fault, i will point it out without qualms.
some people just hate giving respect.
Damn its getting heated in here haha. Mayweather is clearly the best pound for pound boxer we've seen in a while. Even though fights with Margarito, Mosley and Judah would prob be better than Oscar De La Hoya; None of them have done enough to get a pay day fight with Mayweather (Margarito lost to Williams, Mosley lost to Cotto and Judah has lost over and over). However, after Cotto beats Margarito this summer, PBF would have to stop with the excuses and step up. IMO that would be fight of the year, no doubt.
Seeing as the Mosley/Cotto fight was close and exciting, I'd be happy with Mosley/PBF. Say what you will about Shane but his legs and KO power are all there IMO.
^Period?? I don't know about that statement.
Well I do.
cotto/margarito on junly 26 who yall got?
cotto
Cotto is gonna take him, but I like PBF over Cotto if they do fight. He is gonna destroy De La Hoya in the rematch and then win a close one over Cotto later this year. I'm not a big fan of him and it's tough to call him the best ever because he has ducked some top guys, but you can't deny that he is great and he is not going to get dominated by anyone.
^came in speaking knowledge
I had no idea there was boxing last night, but I saw the re-run today on versus. I don't really know what to say about Hatton, even though he dominated the fight, I still wasn't impressed with him. What's up with those judges giving Hatton a shut out, when for damn sure he lost the 8th and 10th rd. Plus, did that ref even know what he was doing or was he there just to secure a Hatton victory? There is no way, he should've delayed the fight in the 10th when Hatton was hurt (then after the breather, he let the corner tie his shoes too).
I see a fight between Hatton & Malignaggi to be a little better. As long as Malignaggi doesn't come out with those dreads again haha.
Hatton's agrressive hit/clinch method will fuck up Pauli's gameplan bigtime. Paulie has no KO power and he'll be looking to score from the outside rather than infighting. Hatton will simply pull him into a dogfight/clinchfest where he'll be able to land the harder shots en route to another UD win. I got Cotto's body attack breaking down Margarito. I like Margarito but he doesn't attack from body to head, he just head hunts mostly. I don't see that being effective in the fight because Cotto's proven his chin to me now.
Co-sign, if Hatton were to face Malignaggi, it'll be Cotto vs Malignaggi all over again. Hatton is and elite fighter, and on top of that Maluignaggi doesn't do well against bulldog fighters, and Hatton has proven his stamina, he is relentless when the fight gets into his hands. Malignaggi wouldn't last and he's out of his damn mind calling him out... He's just gonna embarass himself again. Think of it, after that Cotto fight which left him with a bad cut, broken jaw, and fucked up nose, and after the N'dou fight, which made him look completely stupid, he will probably go into hiding after a Hatton fight and pull a Naseem Hamed.
^^haha, yeah lol at Hamed. Did you hear that he actually had to move his family out of his hometown because all the shit he was getting from the community? It was like a month ago...
yeah hamed ruined his life by being a right idiot. he now wants to be part of boxing again, not in the ring though (good decision finally)
B-Hop better win his next match.
what yall think about the David Haye & Wlad Klitschko thing ?
He's says he has another match coming up, I don't know when though.
I hope no one will fight B-hop; I do not want him to be one of those boxers who just do not retire and no bodies beat him
^I say he should try to get a rematch with RJJ and if that doesn't happen then retire. But think he had a SD against one of the best boxers at 43 (calzaghe is prob the 2nd best lb 4 lb boxer right now). I think its going to be awhile before bhop starts losing to no bodies.
PBF announced his retirement and the cancellation of the de la Hoya rematch. I posted a thread with a link in this forum. Peace-
i guess pbf bounced before he had to face the growing pressures of having to fight cotto especially if he wanted to try and justify a dlh rematch.
PBF is a bitch. He just quits after making a big deal about Roger training Steve Forbes. He is always full of excuses, thats why he's dodged so many boxers during his career. He knew eventually or later he'd have to fight Cotto and the odds may not be heavily in his favor as they were his last few major fights.
Anyone watch the fights last night? I only have HBO, but damn there was alof of upsets yesterday. Forrest losing MD to Mora, Quintana getting KO in 1st rd vs. Williams, Ponce De Leon getting KO in 1st rd vs. Lopez. Although Pavlik handled his business as expected. He had 3 knockdowns by the third round against Lockett until their corner threw in the towel.
Hopefully Pavlik gets his last mandatory out (Marco Antonio Rubio or Duddy) and unifies the middleweight division with a victory over Arthur Abraham so he can go up in weight to 168 for a megafight with Calslappy. Cuz I'll you right now, Calzaghe slaps won't get any damn where the damage Pavlik's crisp punches will. Kelly might be a tad bit slow, but he's conditioned. The only problem I see in Pavlik's way towards defeating Joe single-handedly is the fact that while Joe may look like a total amateur at times (Look at Hopkins fight), he is a great adjuster, and will be a problem for Kelly stylistically.
Damn Berto can throw a mean uppercut. Anyone see last week's fight? That first knockdown started to make my jaw hurt.
So what are the predictions for next week? I have Pacman by UD. I don't think he'll have a problem moving up in weight, but he looks to be moving out of his prime as of late.
Anyone catch Friday Night Fights? Shit was mad crazy! Grant knocking down Burnette in the last very last second of the very last round, big ups for that, even though he lost.
I want to se Abraham fight Pavlik, but Abraham would run through him to be honest. Pavliks a great fighter, but I think King is alittle better.
^hell yeah I saw that! talk about going out with a bang... dude was truly SAVED by the bell, crazy shit indeed.
wat do you guys think about pacquiao vs.diaz??
I'm with RynMur...Pac by UD. Diaz has got a beard on him so I don't see a blowout but a late stoppage by Manny wouldn't suprise me either. BTW - I always felt Morales should've won the Diaz fight by a point or so....oh well. Pac will avenge him hahaha
Pacquiao-Diaz was amazing. I havent seen Manny look that impressive since the Morales trilogy. But I got to give it to Diaz, he took some MEAN HARD shots from Pacman and just kept coming. The undercard was fantastic as well, Barrett knocking Fields out in one round with only six punches, Luevano and Santiago busting each other up, and the controversial disqualification of Soto to give Lorenzo the W. Man, what a night. Thank you Bob Arum.
