i dont like joe cortez, not good enough for that level of fights.
anyway,
pacman did predictably do it, but above all, he did it in style. who's next for him??
heard british amir khan is on the plate, after he has fought some more fights.
Last night was worth the $60. All the undercards were entertaining. So how many fights has Joe Cortez fucked up in the last 2 years?
And did Lampley say something about Pacquiao going up in weight again to fight Hatton?
Pacquiao would fuck hatton up
Yea, I'd have to agree, especially after the way he looked last night
i should water down my criticism of cortez, ive only watched a few and the ones ive seen, i just felt he wasnt doing it 100%
Hatton in 2009, next bout will more than likely be against Edwin Valero in Texas (fuck yeah!!!) or Vegas. That's what Bob Arum had to say post-fight.
just for explanation.
cortez in PBF V HATTON? although i preferred PBF in the fight, he was overly intrusive to hatton's style.
Then he allows hopkins to hold and use the head a few times.
^Yeah but he'd rather cash in BIG by taking that ass-whipping first lol.
he is a wise man, because lets face it, hatton will never be remembered when he leaves, only in britain (and even that will fade). The beating will feel sour, but at least he can wipe his ass with greens. hehe peace benzo
LOL.... You've got a way with words bro! Peace man!
Jones Jr vs. Calzaghe
Sept. 20.
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=3478973
^hmm i can't stand both of those boxers, but i see calzaghe winning in a onesided ud
am going to take Roy Jones by a surprise out of no were KO in the 9th round
hmm, ill stick with calzaghe on this one. he will play a safe 12 rounder winning as rynmur said, on a UD basis.
peace yall
Anyone happen to see boxing on one of the spanish channels last night? It was Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Matt Vanda. It was a great fight, especially in the last 2 rds where they gave it all they got. I don't think either one would've lasted another round. It came out to JC Jr. winning by SD. The most significant part of it actaully came after the fight. As they both waited for the results, JC Jr. slouched back in his chair looking devestated & out of breath; while Matt Vanda celebrated around the ring in triumph. However, even though the fight was in Mexico the fans were truly upset by the result (mostly b/c one judge had a shutout for JC). They were throwing drinks and all kinds of bullshit toward the ring to the point where they had to put a towel over JC's head for the post interview. You would expect the son of a mexican legend to get a lil more respect even if one scorecard was bullshit. (I had the fight to JC Jr. by 2 rounds).
They say a Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Hector Camacho Jr. may be set for the fall.
Welterweight Oscar Diaz, who collapsed in his corner after the 10th round of a TKO loss to Delvin Rodriguez on Wednesday night and was rushed to University Medical Center in San Antonio in critical condition, was being taken into surgery to relieve swelling on his brain early Thursday.
"He's got swelling and bleeding on the brain, he's unconscious and on a ventilator," Ron Katz of Rodriguez promoter Star Boxing told ESPN.com.
Katz said Donna Duva Brooks of Hall of Fame Promotions, Diaz's promoter, was at the hospital with Diaz. Katz said she told him that Diaz was being taken into surgery.
"It's not good. Obviously, he's in all of our prayers," Katz said.
Fighting in front of his hometown fans at San Antonio's Municipal Auditorium, Diaz appeared to be trailing badly in the fight. His right eye was swollen almost completely shut in the main event of the ESPN2-televised "Wednesday Night Fights."
Just before the 11th round began, Diaz, who was standing in his corner receiving instructions from trainer Tommy Brooks, buckled and passed out. Medical personnel came to his side immediately and within a few minutes he was on a stretcher and being taken to a waiting ambulance.
"When he left the ring, he was completely stationary and he didn't look good," said Star Boxing chief Joe DeGuardia. "They couldn't get him to respond. They cleared a path right away and took him to the hospital."
It had been a grueling, physical fight between Diaz (26-3, 12 KOs), 25, and Rodriguez (23-2-1, 14 KOs), 28, of Danbury, Conn. That kind of fight was nothing new for Diaz, a brawler who has been in several hard fights, none more difficult than an 11th-round TKO loss to Golden Johnson on Nov. 10, 2006.
Diaz took enormous punishment in the fight before it was stopped. He returned eight months later to face Juan Manuel Buendia, but the fight ended in a first-round no contest because of an accidental head butt.
Diaz then won a unanimous eight-round decision against Roberto Valenzuela in May to set up the fight with Rodriguez for the vacant regional USBA 147-pound title.
Dan Rafael covers boxing for ESPN.com.
You hate to see this happen. My prayers go out to Diaz and his family. Hopefully he can make it through this.
my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family as well. this is definitely we dont want to see in the sport. hopefully he'll be better soon.
^ Co-sign to the fullest.
Looks like Pavlik is going to fight B-Hop at a catchweight of 170 Oct. 11th in Atlantic City. I'm a little nervous for Kelly on this one... Hopkins looked great at 175 and his skill set is on another level than Jermain Taylor. Pavlik pretty much works behind that constant 1-2 and I can see a master like Hopkins shutting that down with his movement, clinches, etc. It's obvious to me that Hopkins is taking this fight so he can say he beat the man who twice beat the man that beat him twice...adding to his ego. Best part of this shit is that it's PPV meaning the Mayorga/Mosley bout has been moved up one week to HBO's non-PPV Championship Boxing telecast where it should've always been. Peace-
oh yeah... Anybody hear about PBF allegedley getting knocked out cold by Ednat Cherry in a Vegas club? LOL I hope there's truth to this rumor!
I co-sign too I hope dude gets better
I wish this fight was not going down it is more then lily going to be kelly beating hopkins for like 12 rounds or until they stop it B-hop needs to hang it up he is too old why do boxers have this thing for fighting way past there prime (but am still going to hope B-hop has it in him to pull of the upset)
and that mayweather thing is not true
haha benzo, any chance of PBF going down, you will have the news for it :P
hmmm pavlik v bhop. very interesting but i reckon that if pavlik keeps an upbeat tempo for 12 rounds, he can do it. UD 12 rounds.
if bhop wins, id agree that it would bolster his ego, because he still maintains that he was the winner v taylor twice. (arguably true?)
yeah I think he won (B-hop over JT)
the Rahman/Toney controversy..
http://sports.yahoo.com/box/blog/box...?urn=box,94581
honestly it looks like the doctor, not Rahman calling the fight so it should have been a No Decision instead of the TKO. Sucks cause the fight looked like it was getting interesting too
^Fuck that. Rahman did everything except say the words, "I can't continue". He kept insisting that he couldn't see the right hands coming and he wasn't WILLING to fight in that condition. How is it that Pacman can finish a fight with one eye but Rahman can't? Rahman couldn't see 'em coming anyway because Toney had that counter-right poppin all night. Rahman is a quitter....straight up.
lets face the fact though those two aren't doing shit any ways
Kelly Pavlik > B-Hop
B-Hop showed he was over the hill in the Calzaghe fight. The fight was going the way he said it was going, B-Hop was fighting his fight, but he wasn't taking advantage of it. And Kelly Pavliks conditioning is unbelievable. I mean he sticks to the most obvious tactics to get around, but he wins alot of fights because of his conditioning, he keeps that 1-2 strong all night, keeps the same pace.
sigh remember when the heavyweight division was good wtf happened
You better believe that Toney will get a title shot within 1-2 fights simply because the lack of contenders in the division.
Calzaghe v RJJ fight got delayed to Nov due to calzaghe hurting his wrist during training.
What are the predictions for this weekend? I have Cotto by late rd. KO (to the ribs).
cotto is going to be too much he will win by a tko around the tenth round
Yea, im gettin the Margarito/cotto fight this sat. Its my bday so im
havin some people over. I'd have all you fight fans over too if you lived
closer.
Hope they give me a nice present....maybe a couple a KO's from each
guy....and fuck a decision. I want it decided in the ring!!!
IM taking Margarito!! In the 12th!
^^^ Sounds like a blast
My cousin used to have people come over to his place on fight night, and charge $10 or $20 a pop at the door. But they would get to see the fight, and there would be free beer all night, so it worked out for every one. Been like a year or so since he's done that cause he has been dealin with personal problems, etc. etc.
Anyways...
Margarito with a surprise KO in the 7th
thats my word
ESPN Classic showing Ali this weekend greatest fights!
So much for Cotto/De La Hoya. Margarito just pounded Cotto like no one else can. I got a feeling he will be named Fighter of The Year.
Daaaammn! What a fight. After the previous round, I thought Margarito had no chance of scoring a knockout. I'm wondering how you guys scored the fight till the tko. I had it 6-4 Cotto after 10 rounds.
de la hoya might fight the current pound for pound king pacquiao and dont get me wrong it was a big victory by margarito but fighter of the year nah and as far as calling him the king of the division umm paul wlliams might have something to say about that
