Great for us that Italy won today. Hopefully we can get something against Belgium on Saturday now. Although Italy look very poor, I wouldnt rule out getting something from that game especially since they have now qualified

Burak the striker has only played 2 games since January.
There was a shit ton of players in Turkey who deserved a call up to the team, players on form who could play. Omer Toprak our best defender, the Leverkusen captain wasn't called up to the team. Fine call our next 2 best defenders, no Terim didn't. We have 3 central defenders on the team, one is an unknown the other 2 are Galatasaray players. This season Galatasaray had their worst defensive record ever. So Terim says 'I have to play Mehmet Topal in defence' no you didn't you fucking moron.
We have no gameplan, no tactics nothing. We didn't have it in qualifying and i still don't know how we qualified. This team has been shit for years and every time Fatih Terim is brought in as the saviour when the man hasn't got a fucking clue. On top he is the 3rd highest paid manager in the tournament, this team has no fucking excuse to be shit. Country of 80million who pours all its resources into football, Istanbul alone is bigger than most countries in the tournament. Theres state of the art training facilities, brand new stadiums everywhere, players get paid insane amounts of money. Turkish football has loads of money in it, yet we are the shittest team in the tournament. This is what happens when you have complete morons run the football in a country, give the resources available to Turkey to a country like Iceland and they would win a world cup.
Now everyone is mad that the fans booed Arda Turan, the fucking guy can't run. As soon as the boos started he sulked and stopped playing, your the captain of the team you cant pussy out like that. Its all good when the team wins and you get all the praise and hailed a hero, you have to man up and take the boo's not run away from them.

very happy with the Belgian team's performance today. couldn't have been more different from their first game. finally an offensive game plan with the right players to back it up. for the first team in years Axel Witsel was given the okay by the coach to infiltrate instead of having to keep the game lateral. it paid off big time. also good call to keep Fellaini out of it. De Bruyne and Hazard played up to their normal standards (unlike the first game against Italy) and Lukaku wasn't as passive in the second half of the game compared to everything he'd done before this tournament.
we'll see what happens against Sweden on Monday ...
I watched Iceland-Hungary too (a bit boring, except for the end) and Portugal-Austria (lots of good chances for Portugal, but Ronaldo & his team were out of luck, just look at that penalty shot)
it's hard to fathom how Austria scored 28 out of 30 points during the qualifications when you see how dramatically bad their two matches during the Euro Cup have been. really let down by this team. I mean they even have a hard time to get to four or five combinations without being interrupted
Austria had the easiest group in qualifying. Lol @ Fagnaldo and Portugal, apparently Austria celebrated wildly too. That'll piss them off.
Belgium looked so much better without Fellaini but in the first half they still struggled. A few nice chances created, lovely ball from De Bruyne for the offside goal, but they still don't look majorly threatening when controlling the ball but their counter attack was ruthless. I'd love to see them play against Spain. They should cut Sweden to pieces they're shit.
Turkish defence was very WTF. At 0-0 after about 20 minutes turkey had a counter attack where they had a player on the right tearing in to space and the guy with the ball totally ignored him and cut the ball back in to the centre and of course gave possession away. How could you not play him in to space ffs

But even with that, we were far inferior. Spain - Italy second round, why doesn't Italy get a 3rd place team to play against? the draw just fucked up.
I don't know how Germany didn't win atleast 6-0. They gotta start knocking these chances in. You got France, England, Germany, Italy and Spain on one side of the draw. While Belgium and Croatia on the other side. Belgium and Croatia got a serious chance to make the final.

Perisic was outstanding. he played for two teams in the Belgian first league a bit earlier in his career but I never saw him run back to help out the backs in that way before lol. I mean dude was literally everywhere. great assist and cool goal too

looking at the technically gifted youngsters Croatia still has on the bench this team could get really far

Yeah Croatia have looked really good, the Czech game was a bit of a mishap I blame the Croatian fans for stopping the game for no reason, it messed with the teams head. The other side of the draw is incredibly weak:
Switzerland v Poland, Croatia v Portugal, Wales v Northern Ireland, Hungary v Belgium.
Besides Croatia and Belgium the rest of the teams are pretty meh. Meanwhile France, Germany, Italy and Spain are all on the other side.
after having watched the Hungary - Portugal game (that was a great watch btw) I think Hungary could wreak some serious havoc later on in the tournament. they have no problem going all out, there's endless energy on supply as well to put the pressure on when they're not in possession of the ball. they just keep on chasing and chasing until they get the ball back
I wouldn't be surprised if Belgian players & coach underestimated Hungary, played a slow game again (their first twenty minutes of today's second half against Sweden were dramatically bad) and got their ass kicked. on the Belgium-Sweden game ... could have easily been a draw cuz not many referees would have ruled out the goal Zlatan scored. reckless behavior in that particular situation on that part of the playing field? some football showe went into detail on the changes that have occurred in Iceland over the last say 20 years. for a country with such a small population it's hardly feasible they made it to the second round in the Euro Cup
they used to be able to only train well in Iceland for about 6 months a year. in the extended winter period all football players had to play on fields that had snow etc on them. it is only when they had about 10 (only 10!) stadiums built with roofs that could be closed that players could start playing in good circumstances all year round. since there are only about 10 of these they are used all the time, 7 days a week, hour by hour, by as many groups as possible. it seems this was the start of the second generation of internationally worthwile Icelandic football players
Iceland also have a real sports culture in that they heavily encourage kids to practice football through school support. they've been doing it with girls for years. on this show I was watching I heard for the first time Iceland is one of the major players in women's football (never watched it)

Wales v Northern Ireland should be a cracker. I'm a bit disappointed it's on at 2am here because I won't be able to stay up with my whooping cough lol think Wales should win. They could very well go deep in this tournament.
Switzerland v Poland is hard to choose. Both have been good defensively but misfiring up front. Id probably go Poland just on the Lewandowski factor. He's been subdued so far but it only takes one moment and he's the best striker.
Croatia v Portugal should be another cracking match. It seems like Modric will be fit and playing. Portugal were pretty crap on the group stages but now it's down to moments and somebody like Ronaldo can have one of those games. So can Pepe :lmao: a Ronaldo hat trick and a Pepe red card + fight are just as likely as each other
