16 groups of 3 teams? Why not 12 groups of 4 teams and only top 2 qualify. A 32 team knockout is way too long
I have run out of words to describe FIFA. 48 teams? Its going to end up like the Rugby world cup or the basketball world cup. Elite nations pounding on the smaller nations until the quarter finals. Makes the group stages and second rounds pointless.
Lol Barcelona sacked a director because he said Messi wouldn't be as good without his team mates. Umm, how is he wrong? He still said Messi was the best but he's right and at international level it's been proven without Xavi and to a lesser extent Iniesta he hasn't been as dominant than he has at club level. It's a team sport after all.
FIFA expanded the World Cup purely for the extra money.
Van Basten wants to get rid of the offside rule now. These monkeys on typewriters at FIFA need to be stopped
FIFA just needs to fuck off, they are really sucking the soul out of the game.
Memphis Depay goes to Lyon, so much hype when he first came to United. City get Gabriel Jesus. I am happy to see City fail and Jesus won't solve their problems.

Gerard Deulofeu: AC Milan announce signing of Everton winger before deleting tweet

Lmao
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Holy fuck that's terrible. It's gotta be one of the worst logos in the world, even the shitty A-League logos are better than that.
^ Thought it was some sorta Japanese team there for a minute
LOL
they cant be going with that logo?
you gotta be kidding me
The entire English league is nothing but money, all of the top 6 or 7 European leagues are but England especially
^^
Sunderland set to sign Darron Gibson and Bryan Oviedo, as the club is also due to be renamed "Everton B". (they also have Victor Anichebe, Steven Pienaar, Jack Rodwell, and Jolyeon Lescott, well played David, Well played,

Sunderland also rumoured to be in the hunt for Tony Hibbert and Lee Carsley and Leon Osman.
been an Everton fan since my first packet of stickers(when I was 8) had a shiny Everton badge In it. trolololo. kinda gave up watching football about 2010, only really watched everton games on line, why watch other shit? but that made me appreciate the skill and technique more.. so now I watch other premier league shit, but before 2010, I was a mad head on footy, like many of you I guess, could name so many players/teams and had knowledge of footballing shit,. kinda pointless knowledge..
have to admit. I enjoy the game (watching) a lot more now, I don't have that built in tribal mentality wanting certain teams to lose, or not liking players cos of their team/past... its a fun game when to watch when you get past the bullshit.. just enjoy the skillz..
but during the time of not watching, I still played and I still play.. any of you guys play footy? I been playing sunday league from 96 to about 2005, then just with my friends on a Friday night.. just 5-6 a side shit..
I enjoy watching Serie A, La Liga and Bundesliga which is on TV here, the only teams I hope lose are RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim because they go against the soul of the league. Serie A from the 90's to early 2000's was the best for me but I think football peaked for me with France 98, I don't really care as much anymore.
I support Sydney FC. We signed Milos Ninkovic who is so far ahead of anyone else in the league it isn't funny. We've played 17, won 13 and drawn 4. I hope we don't choke.
that's a pretty impressive record for Sydney FC..
I'm not sure when football peaked for me, I used to love seria a in the 90's due to Fiorentina and bati-gol (and laudrop).he's probably the best striker I've seen play.. later in the decade and in the 2000's I became a huge fan of Villarreal, Valencia and Sevilla, they played amazing football and had their teams constantly re built, I'm a fan of the under dog.. I blame everton. but I think la liga was the best league in the 2000's. id watch football religiously from 92 until I stopped caring about other teams/players..
used to watch everything.. never got into the Bundesliga tho, sky sports never had the right to it, used to enjoy watching eurogoals on eurosport.. lol
Still a massive fan of the underdog,
We broke the record for undefeated start to a season but Brisbane went I think 35 or 36 games unbeaten which is a national record in any sport.
Florentina were a great team with Batistuta, Chiesa, Rui Costa, Di Livio etc I used to like Parma, Inter, Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina in Italy and Deportivo in Spain but I never called myself a fan. Depor were amazing they played great style of football. If there's one team I really like without being a fan it's Athletic Club in Spain.
^All the Caudrado links are being ruthlessly taken down..
Here's another recent worldie though:
That link still works.
I didn't watch it but Barcelona got raped by Paris. I wonder if they're finally going to do something in Europe
Speaking of rape, Arsenal just got fisted too. The premier league is garbage for all their talk about how great it is their teams don't match up to the elite in the world
prem is fast, and not as physical as it was, it has a decent standard of play, but the skillful technical players, can do more in the prem. as the defenders are shite..
but i dunno.. imagine if messi had spent his life at Everton, he would have broken more records than he did at barca
trololo
Barcelona won 6-1 to go through. What the fuck.
Dortmund 4-0 and Bayern 10-2 aggregate, good week for the Germans until the pillendreher get thrashed next week
I don't know what to say after that game. I was just about to turn the game off when Neymar scored the free kick. Just insane really. PSG fans are probably committing suicide at the moment, thats a horrendous way to go out.
The top level isn't comparable to Spain/Germany, but like I've said before, the weaker(/midtable) teams in PL are a lot more competitive than the weaker teams in other leagues. Look at Leicester, fighting relegation in the league, just beat out Sevilla in the Champions league to make it to the quarter finals. A more competitive league makes for better entertainment.
Not denying Arsenal's performance was embarrassing, but they've been weak in the league lately as well and are currently fighting for fourth, while Bayern is the undisputed #1 team in Germany.
Depends what you determine as better. In Germany we are seeing Hamburg, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen all fighting in the relegation playoff and these are very big clubs. Leverkusen and Schalke are having a bad year way off European spots, while Hoffenheim and Hertha fight it out for the 4th champions league spot. In England you can pretty much safely predict the top 6 or 7, the top 4 usually too but you can't do that in Germany besides Bayern who are a top 3 team in the world anyway they'd walk the premier league.
La Liga is pretty deep with talent I would put their top 7 against England's top 7 any day. Sevilla played all over Leicester but couldn't get it finished at home that's the way football works. Sevilla are still the better team.
It was good to see City get knocked out I'm not a Pep fan at all I hope Bayern win this year that will be a mark against his name.
the toffees would beat anyone in the spain top 7!! aslong as Colina wasn't the ref...I still recall that night at villareal, when he disallowed fergusons header cos he was shit scared of upsetting eufa and having 5 English teams in the champs league.
in decemeber when everton where doing crap I wanted to put a bet on them finishing in the top 4 trololo. its still way off I did it at the end of jan when they was playing hot... still cant see it happening but its fun regardless.. top 4 lukaku gets his braids back and next season 2nd!
nah on the reals.. Leicester winning the cl is happening.
The top 4 leagues all have their weak and strong points.
Sevilla really brought it on themselves. You really cant miss 2 penalties over the two games and expect to go through in the champions league. They were the better team over the two legs but their nerves got the best of them. They really are a team who can't handle being favourites.
Really impressed with Monaco and am happy Man City is out.
On the topic of the leagues, La Liga has the most depth even though the league itself does everything in its right to keep the 2 clubs at the top. The problems German teams have in Europe is they play every game the same as they do in their own league. You won't see a German team park the bus, as they simply cant and this exposes them to those dangerous counter attacking teams from the lower tier leagues in Europe. They lose out on trying to play positive attacking football, sometimes you gotta step back and defend in Europe. German teams struggle to do that.
Leicester and Man Utd are the only remaining English clubs in Europe and neither team is in the top 5 of the EPL. Spurs got knocked out by Gent. Arsenal and Man City went out in spectacular fashion. Leicester got lucky with the group they was in probably the weakest group i have seen in a champions league. Southampton got knocked out by Hapoel Beer Sheva and West Ham couldn't even qualify. I think its a case of opponents getting extra motivated against EPL teams and they just turn it on against them.
Quarter-final draw:
Atletico - Leicester
Dortmund - Monaco
Bayern - Real
Juventus - Barcelona
I'm guessing Dortmund - Monaco will be the best game to watch. Anticipate a lot of goals and fast flowing football. Leicester will struggle because Atletico is so defensive-minded, I'd give them way lower odds against someone like Barca/Dortmund/Monaco.
Absolutely devastated tonight, going out to Lyon on penalties when we played so well over 2 legs. Just missed too many important players, sad for Besiktas. The clubs been through so much we deserved some success in Europe, the team just lacks ruthlessness.
Bayern got raped by the ref, people using the game as an excuse to bring in video refereeing. Thing is the decisions made in the Bayern - Madrid game, you shouldn't need video refereeing in the first place. The refereeing in Europe has been seriously bias towards Spanish teams, especially this season. I hope Juventus win it all.
The penalty miss by Vidal was so crucial they could have gone on with it that night at 2-0 up at half time but unfortunately it gave Madrid hope and once Martinez was stupidly sent off they capitalised and from there it was always going to end in tears. The refereeing wasn't great in the second leg but honestly it's no excuse. I am not a fan of Arturo Vidal I hope they sell him to Chelsea, Alonso is retiring which on the one hand is great but on the other it is so frustrating to see Toni Kroos in Madrid when Schweinsteiger is gone and Alonso is earning the money they refused to give to Kroos and quite frankly it's scandalous in hindsight. I really thought there was a chance to do better post-Pep but they've done worse! Fucking hell. There needs to be a lot of activity in the summer because Lahm is retiring and Rafinha is nowhere near good enough to be the full time RB, the midfield needs bolstering and with the imminent exit of Douglas Costa there needs to be some wide players brought in too.
The bullshit refereeing in favour of at the very least Barcelona and Real Madrid is so obvious it isn't even hidden anymore and I really hate both of these teams. I'm hoping for Juventus to win I was a huge Serie A fan back in the 1990's and it's kind of sad to me to see Serie A bordering on being irrelevant. Funninly enough Juventus v Monaco was the semi final in 1998 when Real Madrid defeated Juventus in the final. I think the whole bus bomb situation with Dortmund really shook that team to the point they couldn't do anything against Monaco and I would be surprised if they could pull off a victory against Juve. I wouldn't mind seeing Atletico win but preference is for Juve.
So who will play Real in the final? Looking like a repeat of 1998 Juve v Real
Juventus v Real Madrid confirmed. I wonder how Pogba feels lol
Should be a good final, hope Juve win.
Pogba's got the Europe league to think about. I remember when Owen left Liverpool to go to Madrid because he wanted to win the champions league. Thats when Liverpool went on to win the champions league.
Ajax looked good last week though so Man U want to be careful. I hope Ajax win it would be good to see them have some relevance in Europe again.
If Juve win then the 4 best teams would have won it in the last 4 years. If Atletico managed to win one then the 5 far and away best teams would have won. I'm hoping Juve win but Real Madrid have an awesome team with ridiculous depth I wouldn't be surprised if it went in to extra time.
The Bayern - Leipzig game was great.
Chelsea champions, the EPL this year wasn't that great. Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Man utd all disappointing. Inter Milan now want Conte.
Ajax making the finally of the Europa League i can say i am genuinely surprised. After how bad they were in Europe last season seeing them make the final this year. I can only relate this improvement to De Boer leaving.
