anyone have an mp3 of O.V. Wright - Into Something (Can't Shake Loose)?
Alright, ya'll. Here is Volume 3 of Carlos Bess' Funky Drummer series, or, the drums RZA used on 36 Chambers and the Wu-Tang solo albums. These have got to be the 4 most elusive records I've ever dug for. It took me 3 years to get a hold of all four and it wasn't the cheapest of investments. To me, they are more than just breakbeat records. I look at these records as four slices of hip-hop history.
With that being said, I'm keeping with the mystique and elusiveness of these releases. I will keep Volume 3 and all subsequent uploads of this series limited to a 24 hour download time window. Once the 24 hours are up, the uploads will be gone. I'm not trying to incite any controversy. I'm just doing what I feel is fair. Enough babbling, here is the important info:

I love that TICAL one... I always wondered where that was from but RZA would never fucking tell me.. he enjoyed that
login failed. cant believe it. help please!!!!
i want these!
That Tical drumloop is mad ill...props...
but for producin, i ll prefer to find good drumsounds n loops from the 60-70s tunes myself, chop em, resample shit in 12bit machines, eq em right...back them loops up with crispy drums n stuff like that.
that kelly & bess break is ruff, man...ill drums all the way
re-up please
yo smoke & all the others, got a question:
these funkydrummer series, did they played ALL them drums themselves & resampled em in the akai s 950 ?
some of em where famous drumloops from back them 70s i would say.
So i´m not 100 % convinced RZA sampled the tical drumbreak of this funky drummer record. If its not from there, where is the tical break from originaly...MADMAD break this is.....can some1 confirm or clear that up
Peace
Beeboy, to answer your question, yes. Carlos Bess, Ralph Vargas, and DJ I-Cue played all the drums live, chopped them up, and looped them in the Akai S950. And yes, some of the are replays of the famous 60s and 70s breaks used in hiphop. To capture the right depths of the kick and snares, Carlos would stuff the drums with t-shirts and such in order to get the right BOOM and CRACK. I read that in an interview with Carlos that I can't find online anymore.
From what I remember, the drums for Raekwon's Rainy Dayz is on Vol. 1 and those same drums were also used on Lil' Kim's track Queen Bitch.
Ahhh...aight, thx for clearing this up a bit...i enjoy it when people put that much effort into such a freakish (in a good way) subgenre like drumbreaks... Especially that akai/tshirt thing...i heard the musicians back then invented that shit like stuffing drums....just peep all the hi rec backcatalogue.. HUGE crispy snrs all over.
I remember a band called portishead...the main producer was such perfectionist, they recorded dope livedrum sessions working @ their 2nd album, pressed them loops on wax, then sampled em, and used them as a drumbreak....Lovely freakish, right!!
