What a fucking game though. I think this game just confirms the huge problems Germany have in the dressing room. No cohesion, slow football and players just not playing to their standards. I have no idea what the fuck Boeteng was doing all game. He would get the ball move forward and do something stupid leaving all that room behind him empty. Just give the ball to Kroos or Gundogan they should be the ones distributing the ball not you. Germany got caught out all the time one of their defenders decided to play the ball. Just get it out of your feet, stop fucking around.
They should just start with Gomez and have Werner come on later because they get nothing out of Werner. Muller was also awful. In general Germany were just terrible but Sweden. Your playing with an extra man and they barely did anything in the last 10 minutes. So negative, no desire to keep the ball at all. At the end of the day teams who just defend defend defend deserve to lose. From a neutral perspective Germany going out would be bad for the tournament.
Also on the Mexico - South Korea game. What the fuck is the point of VAR if it doesn't spot the clear cut faul before the second Mexican goal? You couldn't get clearer yet the ref didn't even bother and because of that South Korea get knocked out.
Watching croatia bought me back to 98 fuck we did well. Belgium look good. France Meh. Germans will probably win this thing again. Brazil meh. My lukaku bet looking good
I wanna see Brazil vs. Belgium. Hope Belgium will advance far. Germany vs. Sweden game was off the hook, Kroos just shot the lights out in the last possible moment. Legendary. The German team is a mystery box. You don't know what you gonna get. They should let the youngsters start, i.e. Brandt. The old guys, Muller, Ozil etc. don't seem to be too hungry any more. Neuer excluded.
not to hate, but I was watching ultimate frisbee this weekend and it was more exciting than the world cup.
Don't know what to say about the England - Panama game. Panama were just shit but England do look quite impressive.
Senegal - Japan was enjoyable. Liked that both teams went for it. Good stuff.
Poland are out and they got destroyed by Colombia. Really good performance by Colombia I have to say, they looked brilliant at times. Poland again at another tournament play absolutely shit compared to their performances in qualifying.
@ Frank : coach Martinez (Belgium) updated the medical situation of the players on a press conference this afternoon. Ya boy Lukaka has been cleared for playing. So he COULD play against England and make you some betting money in the long run haha
I am overjoyed to see more trans players in the leagues and that the majority of fans accept the players with open arms.
WOW!!! Germany out. Auf wiedersehen.
They were shit, slow passing, passing from side to side. No effective goal position. Timo Werner drifting out wide leaving the box empty, nobody in there to score, he was shit to. Ozil just didn't look like he wanted to play. Muller was awful all tournament. Hummels, Kimmich all poor. Hector poor. They were just shit. The Germans don't fair well in Russia do they.
Another champion going out in the first round.
The German team needs a complete rebuild, coach included. Loew was surrounded by some sort of Fuehrer cult, he was treated like a guru and "his players adore him", one commentator said. Since autumn 2017 they were playing like shit and nobody wanted to see it. The individual players have so much potential but Loew couldn't form them into a spirited superteam. There's an excellent ad-hoc analysis on kicker.de if you read German http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/w...auch-loew.html
^^ist eine gute Analyse, danke
Belgium-England was a snoozefest but hey 9 out of 9, who's complaining lol. Nice goal too.
German coach is an ass sniffer
Yeah dude looks mad sus
^^ lol but I bet Sherry be a sniffhead too
Sad to see Messi go out like that. I just don't know what Argentina are doing. Starting without a striker, the absolutely shit defending. Absolutely shit goalkeeper. When they needed a goal he stuck on Meza instead of Dybala. I mean Sampaoli did great with Chile but his tactics were just wrong here. Great fucking game though. Some of the goals were excellent. I wanted Argentina to go through, im actually rooting for most South American teams just because there fans actually went out of their way to travel to Russia. they filled the stadiums and made a great noise. I got friends in Russia and they just sayings its crazy thanks to all the south American fans.
I said to watch out for Uruguay, this is basically Atletico Madrid at international level. They defend so well and they just have class upfront. Cavani is so damn good, in the first half he was running around like crazy. The guy was playing basically like a wing back. The goals were just excellent. As for Portugal they just don't have a striker. Everything else with the team is fine but they needed that one guy in the box to get on the end of the balls coming in. They didn't really create any clear cut chances, Uruguay were just all over them. Every time Ronaldo got the ball he had 3 people literally jumping on top of him. This Uruguay side won't give the space that Argentina gave France, it's going to be a really tough game for the French.
Holy fuck we deserved to lose that game played terrible. Felt happy for modrich that he scored in the shoot out. Next up Russia
frank, what country are you reppin? Kazakhstan?
That was an important win for Croatia though. With Spain out they now have a legit chance of making the final. The path is open. Same can be said for all the teams on that side of the draw. England will never get an opportunity like this, neither will Colombia, Switzerland and Sweden.
As for Spain, well I didn't think sacking the manager would effect such an experienced side but it did. They had no plan B, they just passed and passed and passed. They did nothing other than that. Didn't even try to get the ball to Diego Costa, it was a ridiculous display of football. I ain't gonna praise Russia for having 10 men behind the ball and not passing the half way line. Spain made over 1000 passes in that game and Russia barely made it over 200. The 2 best passing teams in international football Spain and Germany out before the quarter finals. Tiki taka or obsessive possession football just doesn't work. Guardiola gets it to work in domestic leagues, but Bayern & Man city have been failing in Europe. Barcelona the same. Just defend against it and hope they make a mistake, which they always do. Spain didn't even try to add width to their game, get the ball out wide and put some crosses in for Costa. Whenever someone made a run, the guy on the ball would stop, cut it inside and pass sideways or backwards and they did this for 120 minutes. It's sad that so many good teams on paper have been knocked out by such negative football but they have brought it on themselves.
I feel bad for Denmark, great keeper but lousy penalty shooters. I guess Subasic got in their head acting like an idiot before the shootings.
Missed the Belgium-Japan game (I was at the theater) but I heard it was a real thriller. Gonna watch it tomorrow.
So next up is Belgium-Brazil...
Wow
Belgium really put on the jets to win that game
I really thought japan had them beat !!
Its an odd world cup
The popular teams have crashed out.
Brazil i feel hasnt been tested
It all depends which belgium shows up to play.
France and Uruguay is a good match up.
I think Uruguay can win if they keep playing the way they are.
On the other side of the bracket i see england making it to the finals if they play their cards right.
Its really a tough world cup to call.
Just caught up with the Belgium-Japan game. Wow our defense was shit (again). If the team play like that against Brazil they're gonna lose. Vertonghen and Carrasco were the weak spots this time around. Hazard was covered well by the Japanese.
IF we get our defense right it could go either way against Brazil. Exciting!
Btw major kudos to the Japanese. They played really well
German technocracy at its best: Loew will stay coach. Ridiculous.
Uruguay vs France - Uruguay
Brazil vs Belgium - Belgium
England vs Sweden - Sweden
Croatia vs Russia - Croatia
That's my picks
Tough luck for Colombia but they were never gonna win without James Rodriguez. I didn't understand their aggression in the game though, it was uncalled for and it put them off rather England. As for England they didn't create a single chance in open play. they have scored 9 goals and 7 have been from set plays, 3 being penalties. I don't think they are as good as people make out. But you know 'its coming home'.
Croatia are actually the strongest side on that side of the draw, they just need to mentally be strong and play their game. There isn't a midfield in the tournament that can match Modric and Rakitic. they should beat Russia.
they saying Cavani injured but if he plays I think Uruguay will beat France. If he doesn't then France will go through.
I'm gonna put Belgium over Brazil. Martinez just has to play De Bruyne in a more attacking role. Take out witsel or Carrasco. Dare I say start with Fellaini because in the 2 games he has played he has looked good. but its Brazil so anything can happen but I don't rate this Brazilian side as highly as overs. Neymars not been that great, its Paulinho, Willian and Coutinho you have been there stars. Gabriel Jesus has been missing so far.
England - Sweden. This Swedish team put out the Dutch, the Italians, nearly put out the Germans themselves and destroyed a decent Mexican side. I won't be surprised if they beat England. They look solid as a rock.
*cues Cube's 'Today was a good day'*
#teambelgium #reddevils
People seemed surprised by it but Belgium going through is normal to me. Everything I wrote above Martinez did, so either him or Henry are reading this stuff lol. First half Belgium were supreme probably the best piece of football they have ever played. The only mistakes were i thought just before Brazil scored he should have brought on Dembele or Tielemans to replace Fellaini or Witsel. They were just gassed by then and couldn't get the ball out.
Brazil did all they could but I think this was in the end the limit for this team. Neymar just isn't a Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zico or Socrates, he just doesn't have that flair that match winning capability. Nobody likes him either. No point in diving when theres VAR. He already had one penalty taken away from him thanks to VAR, didn't matter if the ref gave the penalty it would have been cancelled because of VAR. On that note though the foul on Jesus for me was a penalty, don't know what the refs were thinking there. Maybe the ball was on its way out of play, i dunno but thats a penalty. Brazil used to be everyones second team, the favourites for neutrals but for the past 2 tournaments they just aren't anywhere near the Brazil sides of before. They aren't a likeable team anymore.
Uruguay had become my favourites but no Cavani means their entire gameplan just disappears. He is everything for them, their number 10, their number 9, their left back at times. The guy is that good. They just don't have replacements or a plan B. Massive mistake from Muslera to, usually a really good goalie but for the past 2 seasons in the Turkish league he has made quite a few mistakes like that. It was coming.
Just the Euro teams left now as well. The technical capability of the south American sides, or the physical strength of the African teams don't mean much anymore. Tactical discipline, defensive and direct football is winning games now, something all the Euro teams are doing.
Belgium wasnt a surprise for me. I think Belgium beat France too. Hope croatia go well tomorrow I dunno what the fuck if we lose to Russia. Fuckin lukaku left me high and dry not scoring
And Neymar shouldve got double yellows for simulation. That cunt is annoying
Go Belgium go!!!
Lukaku didnt score but he played really well and I was happy for him regardless. That counter attack run was fkn ridiculous.
I was rooting for Brazil to win. Belgiums counter attacks were too good.
Tite did well with the subs. All of them effected the game. Jesus has been very disappointing throughout the tournament. I would have left Willian in and switched Jesus for Firminio. I wouldnt even start Jesus. Too many opportunities were wasted. Its a shame cause this was his perfect time to shine
Mbappe vs Lukaku
Cant wait
England - Belgium - Croatia - France ... hmm it's a hard call
out of these teams England has played the worst games imo. France has played in a very effective way, which is not the same as great football though.
the Croatian midfield is stunningly good.
Belgium was in another class against Brazil, the best game this team played in all of the years most of them have been together
to me there's no clear favorite here. in terms of 'good football' I'd root for a Croatia-Belgium final
