Shit, I'm wrong again. Roy lost a landslide...and Hopkins was laughing his ass off if anyone paid attention to him lol
Jones is pathetic. They kept giving him credit during last night's fight when he was boxing like shit. After last night's performances, I don't see Cal or RJJ beating Hopkins (unless Roach returns to help).
Jones has always been getting excuses. And he had the audacity to say Calzaghe punches hard. No Jones, Calzaghe does not punch hard, you just let him pound on you the whole night.
yeah man....5 10 years ago it may have been different but i have never seen rjj get beat up like that before
sure tarver and johnson knocked him out but they diddnt just beat a niggas ass for 11 straight rounds
credit where credit is due super joe gets nothing but respect from this yank right here!!!
yeah i'm surprised at what happen, when joe got downed in the first i thought hmm this will be interesting for RJJ... but as opposed to dwelling into slow defeat...joe came back and dominated many rounds.
yes many of joes "punches" looked ridiculous, after RJJ did connect more "real" punches, but the sheer work rate and aggressiveness came from calzaghe. after the cut in the eye, it was just straight defeat for RJJ.
I think Calzaghe deserves respect for his achievements, yes there were arguable wins (Hopkins), but in all he should retire, get his hall of fame rep and just contribute to boxing outside the ring.
IF he realllly wants to shut everybody up and get supreme rep, then he should give Hopkins a rematch ONLY.
peace
as for RJJ, stay home.
If Calzaghe faught like that against Hopkins, Calzaghe by decision. His work rate, which he is ultimatly known for, wasn't even used in the Hopkins fight. Many people say "Oh, Calzaghe wasn't as aggresive because Hopkins was defensive the whole time", well take a look at all of Calzaghe's effective flurys, they're always used when the other fighter is being defensive and not trading punches. That's how he stopped Manfredo, Lacy, RJJ, and Kessler. Calzaghe has beaten the best in his weight division and people should give credit where credit is due. I scored the Hopkins fight with Calzaghe up by 2 rounds. It'll be a landslide if Joe faught like that on the RJJ fight even if Hopkins faught like the Pavlik fight. The reason Hopkins looked so good is he was basically pounding on a punching bag, Pavlik didn't throw shit at all, which is why he Hopkins would showboat and land some clean, effective hits on Pav. Where as a great Calzaghe would be throwing tons and moving around alot more.
Is that justin.tv legal? I saw some of a live basketball game on there recently, but the picture quality was pretty blurred. I'm not sure if my dsl connection needs to be faster for it to come in clearer or what. On Sunday's during NFL season, do they play a bunch of the football games on there live?
I use Justin.tv from time to time, it's pretty shitty quality usually.
I think I had the Calzaghe/Hopkins match even. Hopkins should beat Calzaghe next time. He won't have the overrated Freddie Roach is his corner telling him he's doing everything right and winning most of the rounds. Tell me it wouldn't of the been the same results if Calzaghe left his guards down against B-Hop like he did against RJJ.
lol very true.
i don't particularly rate Roach as much as everybody seems to do. Yes he has won great fights being a coach but he lost many fights too.#
Calzaghe IS great no doubt about it, but the way they could brush aside Hopkins as the loser in that fight is ridiculous. In a Bhop v Joe rematch there will only be one winner...yes Bhop.
i dotn kno why but i always root against BHop lately. Maybe its cuz he's been fighitng so many white guys.
I actually would love to see BHop and Roy go at it....the final fight for each.
How is Riddick Bowe's comeback going?
David Haye just knocked out Monte Barrett in five rounds. Holy shit.
Damn, Haye was outstanding. A real contender to relight the heavies.
Taylor beat Lacy. As expected. I still don't have any respect for Taylor though. He clearly got knocked down. He's lucky the ref ruled it a slip. And he clinched too damn much.
Jermain has always got the easy way out. The biased HBO crew was riding his dick, as they always have. He might be a big puncher, but the guy is extremely overated. Thank god Pavlik proved that to everyone when he knocked his ass out last year.
And Hopkins schooled him in both of his fights as well.
^ I thought so too. That HBO crew loves most of the fighters I can't stand... De La Hoya, RJJ & JT. Taylor didn't impress me too much, he ran out of stamina like usual and clinched 90% of the fight.
Lacy is officially done.
Lacy was a fuckin beast in one of those fight night games.
Round three was the best boxing game.
But yeah I box, I haven't entered any real matches or tourneys in a long time but I'm working towards one in like a month.
Who thinks Haye gots a chance at beating the Klitschkos?
Personally, I think he still needs at least two more fights, to be safe, maybe even three against top-rated heavyweights until he fights Wladimir or Vitali.
He packs a huge punch (thats for sure), he's fast, he's slick at times, and isn't afraid to participate in big exchanges.
However, I question his stamina and chin.
I think fights with Povetkin, Chagaev and Valuev would be good enough experience-wise for him at heavyweight. Then he could challenge the Klitschko brothers.
What do you guys think?
i agree, he needs a few more fights. he needs more rounds and more intensity.
klitschkos are clinical and if he messes about, he will get caught and the klitschkos are no joke.
remember danny williams? just because he won against tyson does not make him title contender. he got battered by vitali although danny showed tremendous heart.
you need to be 110% for a klitschko, especially as they are trying hard to dominate the scene.
Again, Haye is defnitely a contender but he should focus on getting one or two more fights under his belt, work hard and then get a crack at Vlad most likely.
Ok,
Hatton beat the Mali in 11 rounds. He looked more confident and like a serious fighter again. He is looking to fight the winner of Pac v DLH but I am really sceptical as to whom he should really fight out of the two.
And rumour has it PBF came out of retirement????
PBF is comin back...someone will throw a ton of dough at him.
Margarito vs Mosley done deal.
Antonio will whoop Shane, but Sugar will show a lot of heart and fight until the end, like he always has.
I hope Hatton doesn't fight the winner of Pacquiao v. De La Hoya. PBF should return and fight the winner. IMO it would be a better fight, and a bigger money maker for the boxers.
Winky cancelled his Dec fight due to injury.
What ya think about Riddick Bowe's return??
who let him comeback?
well either way,
the next big fight will be pac v DLH.
fight worth paying and waiting for? yes to me.
i think DLH will just take it...

The Caesars Palace jet taking us from Lake Tahoe to Los Angeles had just reached cruising altitude when the heavyweight champion of the world looked around and smiled at his good fortune.
A few months earlier he had visited the Pope at the Vatican and presented him the gloves he used to beat Evander Holyfield. Now, Riddick Bowe settled into his breakfast as he jetted south for a day that would end with an appearance with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show.
It was October 1993, and life was as good as it gets for the man who held the only title that really mattered. I was tagging along for the day as he promoted the rematch with Holyfield that will live in boxing infamy.
Bowe had fought his way out of the mean streets of Brownsville in Brooklyn, N.Y. to places he never imagined, traveling in the kind of style he never thought possible.
“In the ghetto we didn’t even know there was such a thing as a private jet,” he said.
Fifteen years later, Bowe doesn’t ride in private jets anymore. His entourage is gone, and he slurs his words from getting hit in the head too much.
And now he’s going to fight again.
It’s crazy, of course, made even crazier by the fact Bowe is 41 and weighed close to 300 pounds the last time he entered the ring three years ago. But he’s already in Germany getting ready to fight Dec. 13 against an opponent yet to be named only because they haven’t found a big enough stiff he can beat.
There’s more, though. A week later in Switzerland, of all places, the man he won the heavyweight title from will fight for a piece of it in a freak show bout against 7-footer Nikolai Valuev.
Holyfield is 46 and nothing more than a human punching bag. But he’s got a mortgage to pay and a bunch of kids and ex-wives to support.
He’s also got delusions about what he can still do, 24 years after he first threw a punch for money.
“My goal is to be undisputed champion not just to win one title,” Holyfield said the other day.
Unfortunately, this is boxing today, a sport so desperate for stars that it’s recycling two from the past. Both Bowe and Holyfield would have trouble getting licensed in any place that regulates the sport, so they’ve gone overseas in search of what they once had.
In Holyfield’s case it’s easy enough to read into his motivation. Besides the obvious need for money—he was called into court last month for not paying child-support for a 10-year-old son—he actually believes he has enough skills left and the heavyweight division is so bad that he can become the undisputed champion once again.
He’s wrong, of course, because those skills vanished along with his reflexes years ago, and there are two Klitschko brothers with titles who would destroy him. But Holyfield fights on, mostly because he’s still got his name and there are promoters willing to pay him.
But it’s Bowe who is one of the saddest and strangest stories in a sport full of sadness and strangeness.
His reign as heavyweight champion ended in bizarre fashion a few weeks after I went with him to Los Angeles, when the Fan Man flew into the ring and disrupted his fight with Holyfield. Bowe was winning the fight up to that point but ended up losing a close decision. To this day, he believes it was all part of a conspiracy to take the title from him.
Then there was the riot that broke out at Madison Square Garden after Bowe beat Andrew Golota by disqualification after Golota kept hitting him below the belt. They met in a rematch, and Bowe won the same way. But it was his slurred speech after the fight that attracted the most attention.
A few weeks later he joined the Marines but didn’t last long in boot camp. Then, in 1999, he was arrested for kidnapping his wife and children at gunpoint in what he said was an effort to get his family back together. A psychiatrist told a federal judge who sent him to prison that Bowe had “frontal lobe brain damage” from fighting.
Now, he’s going to fight again.
It’s hardly a surprise, because even fighters without brain damage never know when to stop. The money’s too good, they crave the attention, and most have no idea what else to do.
About the only surprise is Bowe and Holyfield aren’t fighting each other.
Sadly, that could be next.

Lennox just said he'd come out of retirement not for money, not for titles....but that he'd beat Bowe's ass for FREE as revenge for Bowe ducking him his entire career lol!
Haven't been here for awhile, so I'd like to catch up with ya'll.
But I'd like to note that a friend of mine, Frankie Figueroa, faught Emmanuel Augustus on the Jones-Calzaghe fight, and Augustus was robbed. Arreola is terrible, just a brawler who is not ready for Peter. Bowe is making a mistake with coming back. Haye won't last from either Klitchko's, they pack to big of a punch and are to big. Williams needs to jump weight because it's not fair for him to fight at welter. He needs to fight Pavlik. Margo made the right choice for Shane instead of Williams, Williams didn't give Margo a rematch when Margo asked for one, and now that he beat Cotto, Williams wants him, even though Margo didn't deny a rematch. The DLH-Pacquioa fight is just stupid and unfair, and I hope Manny wins just to beat the odds, even though he'll probably lose. Hatton dominated Malignaggi, Paulie should retire because he definitly can't use his right hand, and whats a boxer to do when he relys on one hand? Lacy should retire for same reasons as Paulie, if he can't use his left hand, why should he fight? Watch out for Juanma. Froch is going to destroy Pascal. Kosta Tszyu shouldn't be thinking about a comeback. Roy Jones should retire.
And now to catch up with my amatuer career, record stands at 22-2 with 8 KO's/TKO (note it's hard to KO an opponent in amatuer because of only 3 rounds and headgear.)
haha i wouldnt mind seeing lewis v. bowe. lewis better hit the gym before the klitschko fight if he wants to make it happen.
I have pacqiao beating de la hoya by ko. i think pacman's speed (even 2 weight classes up) will be too much for the golden boy. de la hoya lost it after he was defeated by b-hop.
*the odds are highly in favor of dlh, so if you think pacquaio can win, put down some money
