Side judge Brian Stropolo is a fan of the Saints, according to his Facebook page. He was pulled from the assignment Sunday morning and replaced with an alternate, Tim Keese, who travels with the crew.
The NFL was unaware of Stropolo's open allegiance as a Saints fan until ESPN contacted the league Sunday morning.

Stropolo, who is from New Orleans area and lists himself on Facebook as an NFL side judge, posted pictures of himself in Saints gear tailgating at an Aug. 25 preseason game. Stropolo did not work the game against the Texans, but he was assigned to Sunday's game in Carolina. There were several photos of Stropolo in Saints gear on his Facebook page.
Stropolo worked the Week 1 opener between the Cowboys and Giants and posted on Sept. 5: "Thanks to everyone for all the support. The crew did a great job tonight. Next stop September 16th at Carolina vs the Saints."
Stropolo's status update drew 73 "likes" and comments such as "Hey, now be nice with those yellow flags for our Saints!!" and "That's awesome you get to be an official for a Saints game! I didn't think they would let you since your (sic) from Louisiana."
Stropolo's Facebook page has since been taken down. The NFL Referees Association was locked out in early June and talks on a new collective bargaining agreement have gone nowhere. The league has said replacement officials are subject to the same background checks and ethical standards of the locked out officials. A league executive conceded, at the very least, "an appearance of impropriety" warranted Sunday's action.
They have to do what they can to try to win some games.

any one see the ravens game ....refs were horrible....calls on both sides but the worst was they spent 37 mins through out the game trying to find out were the ball is supposed to be placed lol ...the pass interference call on the ravens td was joke the guy covering jones throwing hands on jones the whole time and not even turning his head to see where the ball is....thats the win for the ravens...but granted the ravens played like shit 2nd half....there down fall was not giving the ball to ray rice
nfl needs to get there shit together and get back the pro refs... i rather be upset on 2 or 3 bad calls not every call made during the game
any one see the head ref almost shit his pant when john harbaugh was screaming at him due to the ball being placed 15 yards in the wrong spot...then the nfl official pushes the head ref onto the field to stop the game....lol dip shit

I've been watching alot of football over the last two weeks and I can never remember calls being affected by players and fans reactions more then they have in the games I've watched. I've seen players/fans react negatively to a call only to have a ref throw a late flag just to please whomever is screaming the loudest. Some of these scab refs are in way over there heads.

i know what football is man. i was tailback and monster back (middle linebacker in monster defense) on my team when i played. i made kids that were bigger than me cry multiple times. but i played within the rules. i remember once i tackled the other teams QB when he took it on a keeper. next time i saw him he told me he had charlie horses on both his thighs for like a week.
