off the New AP 2099 vs Mysterious
It definitely makes sense. It's like he has so much to convey to the listener, so he breaks himself off into multiple characters as a way to connect more pieces of the puzzle/'god'/foundation that is Alcatraz; but each is detached as you said, and assigned to a certain task within the collective goal of completing the puzzle. "Something made of pieces, fit it together."
And occasionally the separate characters are linked to each other, creating a whole new passageway. Like this reference to Architect in Alert the Local Watch.
"Creep across states, white with ageless hands
A being, of age old grace slid into place."
The Architect persona has really interested me lately. Thus far I've found this persona in 5 tracks.
Old Toy Room
Dark City (One Standard Lesson)
Woodchuck
Kill or Be Killed
Midnight in the Garden of Good.
"Skeleton Lode"
lode is an old western term from gold mining days for when guys would it a big vein or layer of gold.
a skeleton lode brings to mind a situation where you may come across a lot of dead people either from conflict or some other mystery
as a reference see this pulp western of the same name

^My bad too.
Hard to catch him say, only on "A Purple Rose From Cairo"
Always thought it was some kind of pirate persona.
Thanks for the info.
not to be too big a dick but whoever wrote that song title got it wrong too should be "Cairo" like the capital of Egypt.
The Purple Rose of Cairo is a direct reference to the 1985 Woody Allen film

In 1930s New Jersey, a movie character walks off the screen and into the real world.
I love it that Warcloud has an entire archive of pop culture references in his brain. I really wish after he died his memories could be stored on a hard drive. I would love to dig around inside of his brain and see what fascinating things he has hoarded up in there.
