The Lost Tapes was the same, they even put remix albums out there now. At least on this album Ghost is flowing better and his voice is getting back to that higher pitch old Ghostface sound and the beats aren't all that bad, some even pretty good.

This is why most of their projects have these weak producers now and less and less features. They’re not trying to pay their own money to put the project over the top, just hoping the one producer is good enough. Most of these features were probably done “On the Strength”, he could’ve easily sprinkled 2 Alchemist beats, 1 Pete Rock beat, and even 1 Staik Beat in there to push this project over the top. Imagine that with a Conway feature, Willie the Kid feature..this would’ve pushed the album up more. Only Raekwon seems like he can make moves and get the features needed and RZA of course....

White guys love creating Ghost albums I just realized. His last 3-4 were helmed by em. Not that it matters, it just popped in my head. Anyway, I think this is pretty damn good. Better than Lost Tapes as of now. Sun God sounds really good on this. Album reminds me of Apollo Kids. The Ciazzo guy’s beats are better here than Deck’s. These had some energy to it. My thoughts. Peace

This is y I stopped listening to ghost albums after big doe rehab or more fish, whichever came later. I always forget.

Ghost doesn't give a flying fuck about music. At least not hip hop. He's been putting out half arsed throwaway compilations just cos it's his job ever since bpw flopped and he didn't get to b the superstar he was trying to b.

Y the fuck should anybody bother listening to that shit?

Fishscale was the last real dope gfk album.

Most Wu fans would disagree with this. Ghostface has a long and strong discography, and he definitely had a dope run in the 00s. I wasn't a fan of BDR but More Fish is a banger. Its really a Theodore Unit LP, but its dope and has serious highlights.

Also you're wrongly assuming something. Ghostface's label wouldn't clear a bunch of samples on BPW and made him remix some of the songs. It wasn't him trying to be a superstar.

His recent 1 producer albums have been mostly dope, although they're different to his regular albums. Its only Lost Tapes and this new one that are weak, mostly because of the producers. If he's going to continue with these collab albums, I really hope he aims higher. Its not like Pete Rock or Madlib etc would turn him down. Or Knxwledge, I made this mashup recently:

I was going to post the original version of 'Never Be The Same Again'. I believe it was produced by RZA and didn't have Carl Thomas performing the chorus but all I can find on youtube is the 9th Wonder remix. I remember it existing but its been a long time since I've heard it, maybe I imagined it.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Anyway noel, his 00s stuff is worth revisiting although I know you have an inexplicable bias against him. Some examples:

No Sha you are not imagining it. Rza did originally produce an absolute gem of a track.

^ Oh thats it? I thought that was a mislabeled remix. Its good but it does sound like a remix rather than the original. I think my memory is failing me. This might be the onset of dementia.

Whoops! Oh yeah - my bad... that version was actually produced by Choo the Beat Specialist. He submitted the beat to GF to use for the BPW album (props to Buddah MAC for that info). It was, (criminally imo) never utilized by Ghost. I cant' believe how different BPW could have been had they cleared all the samples, and used beats like the above.

I don't think RZA ever made a beat for Never Be the Same; the beat above appeared on a Dreddy Kruger mixtape and was erroneously credited as a RZA beat. (props again to Buddah MAC for clarification).

^ Yeah BPW was a missed opportunity. A big let down after SC, but really just a misstep. After this he had Pretty Toney and Fishscale which were fire albums.





RZA's attempt at replaying the sample on this one is so trash.

Bpw has more replay value than pretty toney.

I always thought Pretty Toney was overrated. Maybe I gotta go back to it at some point cuz it’s been awhile. No Wu guests on the album if I remember correctly.

It's a decent album imo. Ghost did his thing on there. It's the last Ghost solo album to have RZA beats.

Its a good listen front to back, there's only one or two skippable tracks imo.

Masta Killa was on the original version of Metal Lungies but was replaced with The LOX. RZA produced 2 tracks.
