no thats my point. he hit me with $50,000 and some contacts to call. well the contact weren't dircet hits but because i am his son they were willing to plug me with their contacts. ectect.
i'm saying this is how white folks been doing it. shit look at our president !
this is the kind of shit white folks don't take into account when assesing the state of black america. we ain't really building on nothin. my generation is one of the most upwardly mobile black waves to hit america. it will be my kids, rev runs kids, jordans kids, that you will see do some really ill shit.
STYLEMASTERR, you are a lucky person, you probably already know that
both my parents got degrees: mother is an M.D. and father an engineer ... all 3 of us are employed at the clinic where my mother works and together we earn less than 15k/year ... in western europe or usa that sum would probably be about 7-10x bigger
next year I wanna go to college to get a degree, I could get it cheap in my hometown but I don't wanna attend college here because education is extremely crappy around here ... I mean it's not really required to learn, you just pay 10-20$ for each exam and you pass it... so I chose to go to Netherlands or Belgium to get a real education ... that means I need at least 10k/year to pay my tuition fees and live modestly and I wonder where's that money gonna come from
what is the avg yearly income there? and gimme some prices of houses cars gas milk ectect. whats the cost of living. cause 15k between 3 people will barely cover rent on a 1 bedroom apt in the US . you def couldn't eat AND pay rent.
I don't know exactly what's the average yearly income but somewhere around 3000-4000
all the prices I list will be in us dollars:
the apartment my folks own: about 60-65k now ... which 10 years ago when we got it it was somewhere between 5-10k ... I can't really tell because economy was extremely fucked at that time and we got it through an exchange deal .... if we would have to pay rent, it would be somewhere around 400-500$/month
an average apartment is worth about 40-45k
a Toyota Corolla: 32k
gas: 1.8$/liter
carton boxed milk: 2$/liter
bread: 1.2$/kg
gym ticket for 1 month: 15-20$
public transport ticket: 1$
a beer in a pub/bar: ~1.5$
Adidas Superstar II sneaker: 100$
double-cheeseburger at McDonald's: 2$
kebab at an average fast-food: 2$
if you want to know other prices, ask them and I will tell you
I've traveled a bit myself and as you see the prices are almost as high as in the countries with a strong economy, but the salaries are at least 5x smaller for unqualified or low-qualified work, and 10x smaller for intellectual work
the same people who had black slaves in america had white slaves back in europe back before america was discovered and after that, do you know europian history, do you know what coused the big french revolution? did you know that in my country in easteurope landowners olso owned the pesants and could sell them and do whatever they wanted to do?
actually the word slave comes from slav as in slavic european.
not quite.
but did you know that there was a limit to what you could do to white slave? and there wasn't a limit to an african?
and euro-slaves would come here as endentured servants and work for their freedom.
begongo..
yall econ is crazy. i see certain markets are very unstable.
idk why this came to mind, do yall have a drug epidemic there? if so what is the drug of choice? heroin? do yall have crack?
There was slave trading LOOOOONG before the United states was even a thought. ANd yes, they were different in that they could get their freedom. Slavic people were indeed used as slaves for a long time. So were Turkic peoples who were imported to Egypt, which would eventually become the Mamluk slave empire....once of the main reasons Tamerlane could not take over Egypt.
The way the Mamluk empire was set up was very unique. It was always being ruled by new slave recruits.
This is pre-Columban history.....when Rome fell, and Europe was in shambles, and the only surviving centers of education and preservation was the catholic church, which is why the church became so powerful, especially after the conversion of the germanic tribes.
Its very similar to how Islam spread......people went from tribes to kingdoms to states. They went from 'pagan'(for lack of a better word) to monotheistic in a matter of years....Then came feudalism and the land owning aristocracy until the Renaissance in Italy(which was not so much in a dark age, Italian city-states were still prominent).....
The threat of Islam from the West in the muslim al andolus and the East from the Ottomans made christian europeans paranoid and led to the crusades.
Then came the industrial revolution which led to economic and political revolution and the wars amongst european technologically advanced countries for supremacy in europe and around the world.....
THis really didn't end until after the cold war if you ask me. ITs still going on but not as intensely as it had been.
Its really survival of the fittest out there. Putting God into the equation tends to romantacize things (I'm a believer too, but also a rational thinker).
I think the race thing in AMerica will diminish with ever succeeding generation. I know my generation, im 26, is alot diffeent from my fathers, and alot different from my grandfathers.
Its not going to happen overnight, although it should have happened sooner, like after the civil war, but America was still in its formative years and def. wasn't ready for even immigrants, let alone freed slaves.
Physical combat between black and white in some sort of race war would only delay any kind of progress.
drugs aren't really a problem here ... the media sometimes makes anti-drug propaganda but there is really no use to it ... it is more likely that you don't find real drugs even if you want to buy some
people by "tradition" inhale industrial glue and take overdose of cough pills ...
I never saw heroin and crack is really rare and expensive
I used to smoke weed because I had a friend in Germany that brought some every time he came here to visit
You can find weed, but it's not anything popular around here ... people just get drunk ... that's mostly it
In the poorer eastern parts of the country I heard youngsters by medicinal alcohol and inject a bit in their veins ... that way 20 people can get wasted with 5$ lol ... but I don't think it's real because as much as I know, you would die by embolia (I don't know if that's the name in english) if you'd do that
Drugs are not a problem in this country.

when was the last time you were in a any black community to witness the shit that goes down here ?
have you ever studied or listened to the peoples conversation ?
can you recognize the results of slavery and oppression in my people ?
you are telling us to get up and do something, do you know us ?
is this little essay of yours a big yes to all my questions ?
how many times must this topic be raised in this forum? no one has a truly effective solution, and even if they did they could do fuck all about it.
history has shown time and time again that it only takes a few dedicated individuals to become a catalyst for change. albeit the outcome is of little significance to the grand scheme of blackness, the Jena 6 is a perfect exmple of how black america united and mobilized to affect change.
most of the people that turned out to supprt the kids, were by no means in the same boat with them, outside of being black. so i don't buy into the complacentcy argument.
i think its a matter of leadership.
yes^indeed, which is exactly why the CIA will run out & kill anyone who shows fit to task............Fred Hampton being a perfect example.
if you're a black leader these days, you'd have to move in a real silent manner to stay alive for very long. Perhaps its happening now and me and my friends are just unaware......If it starts anywhere its gonna be somewhere along the east coast. You can hear it in the music. There's not much that has been talked on some real shit in hip-hop that didn't eventually happen. I'm not talking about in a certain individual sense but just themes, subtle or otherwise, that get repeated frequently.
