I'm okay with saying he helped people, I know he hurt some too along the way though.
It urks me when people treat him as something bordering on Godlike though.
He instilled pride, but he also gave some a reason to hate.
I remember that Thrilla in Manilla documentary on HBO(mind you he had died by that point) where they were showing the build up to Ali vs. Frazier 3 and they were talking to Ali about the NOI and the Ku Klux Klan having meetings... Ali was asked to speak at a rally and he said things in favor of segregation at that same time he had been calling Frazier a gorilla...

I don't know, I just wonder how far can you go with negativity until it hurts the very things you care about? What level is it we learn restraint? If it's only after we hurt those who help us, then isn't that pedantic on our part?
