When do the CDs ship?
Next week
Thanks.
Bummed I missed this!
My IG - One_TW0 for future releases
@jaemaze
I’m sure i read somewhere else yesterday, or the day before, that this version will be on streaming? Is that correct?
No. It won't be streaming. And the following releases, which will all be ultra rares, will only be available to whomever purchased the previous project.
Looking forward to see what it is.
Interesting way to do business. You do you, but to only offer the next project for those who purchased the first one means a definite no and this being for me. I was already on the fence because of this whole claim “the first album in two decades that brought back the original Wu sound” (paraphrasing), which is not only arrogant but factually not true. Shame..
That's cool bro.
M-80 posted about a month ago that physicals would be coming via 1332 Records. I assume that would be the leaked version if it’s still happening. Guess will settle for that. Peace
Add me, too, bro.

I mean i was looking forward to it, but i dont got 250 to blow on a cd rn. I dont even have a cd player. Vinyl maybe. Not that it isnt worth it. I just dont got it to blow atm and too far behind in other areas of my life to justify it currently. My 15 yr old self would but 39 feels guilty spending money on himself
as for you have to buy this to get future releases….
Idk man. Seems kinda limiting. Unless thats what you want. But expecting those same 100 to just buy it all and ONLY for them….
I been a member of this forum for over 20 years, before it was even this forum, id say im for sure a wu purist. Jist a semi poor one. Atleast make digitals available to us for cheaper after a period of “exclusivity” or else people gonna pay them to leak it.
like atleast make it available to us forum members, at an inflated price if need be.
id more be into buying singles for cheaper amounts but possibly monthly drops or whatever so they stack and not dropping huge money in a limited window of time.
Just my 2 cents. I think it has the possibility of being a cool system and everything, good plan and stuff…. you have an entire forum of people who if they still come here are fans of yours/wu purists.
But 250 bucks is a lot for any record… i hsvent spent 250 dollars on wu since 2000. Let slone one item. Not sure id buy a rza album for thst much.
at same time i make music too so i understand wanting ti be paid for ya work. Its just only allowing those with “big” bread to access it. Like mach hommy and his 10k vinyls.
its a hard call. Im just too old to be buying myself “gifts” like that
but cmon ringz. :/ Gotta open up digitals to forum members down the line even if its months later.
Yeah Forensikz I kinda posted the same thing a few days ago. And I actually still purchase CDs. But 200 bucks for a CD is crazy work let’s be honest. I’m shocked 100 people even bought it. Cool idea but just not for me at this point and I don’t even consider myself broke, ha. Peace
There’s no way this doesn’t leak after a time though. Not a bad way of making an up front $20,000 and everyone gets to eat eventually.
Yeah thats the sad part that someone here is going to play it for someone and give the files to a friend and in the end someone else will put them online. Thats almost always the case. Speaking for myself Im keeping the cd and might play the songs for friends but they are not getting anything from me. Ive been collecting music for so long I built up integrity over the years. Ill leave the cd to my son like alot of other records I have. When Im gone its up to him to do as he please with it. Got alot still sealed copies of alot of vinyl.
I won’t be leaking it after I’ve gone and paid out for it, don’t see the point in doing that.
Not making $20k.. that's a gross number. You're forgetting manufacturing costs, production costs, mixing, mastering, company distribution fees.
It will be interesting to see if it leaks or not. From my experience, the more one pays for anything, the bigger the incentive to keep it close... Wuki's expensive packages showed that for a long time. OUATIS has proven it beyond a shadow of doubt. But let's see.
I think both camps here make a good point. You can look at it from a general perspective, but in this particular case of LAD, previous figures show sales within the range of 250-300 copies at $30 rate, on average. Spotify numbers don't bode well. There's a total of 125k streams at the moment, everyone can do the math there. Same at YouTube.
Best case scenario, you'd be looking at 300 copies x 25 USD net profit per record = $7500. That's what an independent artist would keep, out of which he/she would have to pay studio, producers, mixing, mastering, design, and eventually the rest could be seen as salary for the time it took to make the record.
It would be fair to say, and conclude, that the music we want from our hero artists simply wouldn't make economic sense in the slightest.
That doesn't take away from the consumer who for the most part has a family to take care of in a particularly difficult time in the world right now where everything is ridiculously expensive. That will always come first. And I don't think any consumer wants to see their favorite artists underpaid or out of pocket neither.
So it's a balance to be achieved which frankly is very difficult at this time.
The artists I work with simply do not push those numbers anymore. Our audience is very limited.
So in the end it becomes an economic decision where I will calculate a fair wage for my time away from my family to make music, my talent, and the value the end product can retain for the consumer.
And the general pool of our audience will likely not be able to afford such releases.
So in the end, I don't think there's wrong or right here, it is an individual calculation the supply chain makes that works for some and doesn't for others.
And as long as it's a non basic necessity such as exclusive music, it will likely go this way the harder it becomes to make economic sense of making music.
Happy to hear yall thoughts if you feel different or feel I missed something essential.
I think that’s a very elaborate and well thought out way of looking at it. I get that the physical release being offered for only x amount, thus to be exclusive and retain some value makes sense. It’s always been that way. I do think a period of exclusivity and or offering later as a digital release for say $50 makes sense for both parties. I am sure a lot of die hards would think a 230-250 for a CD nowadays is not worth it, but $50 for digital, with unheard Wu tracks would be something I am sure could net you dozens more at no extra costs and maybe a couple thousand more. Maybe testing the waters on a digital release some time down the line would be interesting and beneficial to both fans who cannot afford / don’t want a physical product and the artist and in this case you as a producer who can make extra money, please more fans and get more people involved in future projects.
Bit out there, but I was wondering if LAD did any actually paid promo campaigns? Same for Shaka & his BSOM? Are those sales/streams just by organic? In that case I'd say they are leaving money on the table. Probably not much, but the facts for the last 5 years are organic reach does wood. You want to sell, you got to pay for ads to reach people. (Even more now with bots flooding the space.)
$50,- for a digital release sound good in theory. In practive in my opinion it would undercut the original buyers. What would be the incentive to buy the physical if it just shows up cheaper later. Original buyers, if this was not communicated before hand, would feel slighted and thus not as motivated to invest in the next release. It's all in the agreement and communication that people that buy the original ticket know what they sign up for. Not saying I do not see your point in making an extra buck with a digital release after X time. Like a timed exclusive.
Add me as well
I actually did offer this to a few people at half the price, but nobody wanted to. Most of them want the songs on Spotify and it simply doesn't make sense on there. Also, at this point, with many having purchased it, I feel it would only be right for the Collectors group to decide whether something should be made available digitally at a lesser price. They have invested much themselves and I would think it's fair for all of them to have a veto right on this. The other risk is that somebody buys it at a cheaper price just to leak it and to spite me or the set up which also wouldn't be cool for the Collectors.
It's a tough one to decide on but I will bring it into the group, see how everyone feels.
They've now heard what's the come in the near future so they will have to assess the value and investment of everything.
IG?
I wouldn't be opposed to others having access to a digital version at some point. You could always take the BSOM approach and leave some of the "bonus" tracks off of the digital release, so those that bought the physical still have something specifically for them (and to justify the price)
There's a good amount in the collection which is being seriously contemplated for ultra exclusive releases. Those who purchased the LA album will be entitled to those releases, and those buyers have had extensive listening sessions over the last week. Could be that some might share some of that experience, or not. That's totally up to them. But it is like an exclusive community in which one enters once purchasing the first release.
I gotta say, anybody hating on this is just wrong. I spoke with cilva on IG regarding this COLLECTABLE (it's not just an album of music) and was honest that I can't afford the asking price right now. His response was, as always, respectful.
Almost nobody on this planet puts effort into their trade just to use it for free. Anybody hating on someone because they're asking for fair wages for the work that they did isn't being realistic.
The same reason some of us are choosing not to buy this is the same reason he's asking for the price he is, we all gotta feed our families.
I hope I get to hear the art someday just like OATIS but that's not gonna make me come on here and act a fool.
Dont hate, congratulate and appreciate.
peace Cilvaringz, I would like to be added to the Exclusivity list please!
