Wu Tang.
so in reality they are over rated cuz your homies played that shit to much and worshiped the spit from chris cornel's lungs?
out of nirvana, pearl jam and sound garden.......Sound Garden was the least publicised and hyped etc.....they got the less attention so im not sure how you can say they are over rated when no one really has rated them .
Look man, they're a big band, just because commercially they're perhaps not on the same par as the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam, its pretty safe to say they have a sizeable fan base, which I've experienced not just through the few people I know who are fans, but through a wider network of people also. I've never said they are shit, I don't dislike their music, nor their fans. I just find them over-rated in my humble opinion, which I'm entitled to have.
They are on par......they just never were talked about too much.
Soundgarden over rated?
Ive never heard that before.
Out of that early 90's Seattle Boom, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden werent the over rated bands of the bunch.
Would you rather have one super album and and the rest subpar, or have a career of making solid album after solid album
Sigh fine, they're not over rated at all. They're greater innovators than the Beatles, Doors and Pink Floyd combined, and I'll burn in the hell of philistines for thinking they're over rated, as they clearly warrant a greater respect than what I've been giving them.
Maybe I should start being an arse to the people that think Radiohead are over rated eh? Or perhaps I don't need to because it really doesn't matter..
dude radiohead fucking blows. i hate those nerds.
Oh Gawd.....what have you done crass.......what have you done.
yeah radio head sucks
nirvana were nuthin genius IMO
highly overrated (thanks to Cobain's martyrdom)
Pink Floyd... anyone who dissagrees its up to you, its my opinion. i forced myself to listen to that music, n its NOTHING great. theres alot more better bands out there. like arctic monkeys ;)
Just out of interest what did you listen to? Dark Side Of The Moon is in my top 3 albums of all time, and I'm pretty much PURE hip-hop. Saw Roger Waters live a few weeks ago too, fucking insane!
What do you mean by over-rated? To me the likes of Beastie Boys are over-rated, simply because they get mentioned all the time with "greatest groups ever" when the likes of Black Star and The Roots get left out.
My Chemical Romance. They don't make good music, and won't have any fans once this fad dies out.
I don't get how you could call the Sex Pistols over-rated.. Any idea the effect they had on people and music industry? Chuck in The Clash while you're at it.
And ACDC? just lmao
I don't get alot of the names dropped here, while seeing it in the context of a hiphop board.
i just know so many people who hold them in such high (cant think of the word) n i dont think they're anything special. sure it was like 40 years they came out. why are they so special? ive listening to DSOTM, The Wall, the animals one. and some other random tracks my X made me listen to.
the only thing i like about them, is the sample used on Leak Bros album (Waterworld - follow the liters) thats a cool little riff, sampled from ''any colour you like'' but thats about it.
Word you're looking for is "regard", mate
Probably not your style. Think about what was goin on back in the 60's drug wise and stuff, then think about their music. They made psychadellic rock, music that would make you trip and were the first to do it. DSOTM was just AMAZINGLY produced, makes you feel, gets you in a trance with an eerie mellow and great lyrics.
They were inovators too.. tracks like "money" switching up the beat form 3 times throughout the song when 99% of rock was purely 4/4.
But yeah, it's old school classic rock and roll, the REAL stuff, if you don't like em I won't be able to change that. Just don't see them as "over-rated" and I never used to rate them. Sorry for dribbling, peace!
overrated, yes. but nuthin genius..grohl was very good on the drums, and in my opinion the In Utero album is flawless...Kurt had his problems and thats why they had tracks like Something in the way...
what I was tryin' to say- 4 me, they are somewhere between top10-20 of my fav bands..they just made good music and thats all
and Soundgarden isnt overrated, its even underrated, because they have a very good discography...
Radiohead And Nirvana Overated??? Wowowow.. Try My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy.. Staright Up Emo Bullshit
Pink Floyd really got some crazy production on their albums. That's some superb mastering of sounds.
whoever said jimi hendrix was overrated is fucking deaf ...
its funny to note all these people saying the beatles, the doors, ac/dc, led zeppelin ... look how old you are ... when they all first hit there was no sound like them ^^ ... they all kicked the door down on creativity ... to say any of the above bands are overrated is an absurdly poor form of judgement ... it doesnt matter if you like them or not thats not whats being asked ... tell me a band today that created a whole new sound like they all did ? ... you cant really appreciate them as much as when they first came on because it was a whole different vibe ... today theres so much music past and present ... that being said ... the rolling stones are overrated ... theyre good ... but the not the greatest like everyone makes out ...
Slipknot & Greenday
Rage Against the Machine
bump
Poison
Motley Crue
Adele. Great voice, songs are lackluster to me.
^^I'll check out the album, thanks, I don't know that one. I only know them as a singles band.
Queen
^ Nah they have a lot of hits. Not sure about their albums though.
Muse.
Queen have a cheap official "Deep Cuts" compilation series, three single volume CDs (€8 per CD), with the best of their album cuts. Along with the Greatest Hits double or triple CD package that's about all the Queen you need.
I'm biased though. I grew up on Queen, my parents played the greatest hits comps a lot.
Placebo
Marilyn Manson
can't stand the beatles.
it's one of those opinions that i never bother bringing up really because most people will either think you're an idiot (and you don't "understand" "songwriting") or you're just trying to be edgy.
i've tried to get into their albums on multiple occasions and the appeal just bemuses me. i listen to a decent range of music and tend to like stuff across genre's... i like stuff from the era the beatles made music in... i just think their music was bad. it's not like i just don't see what the big deal is, i genuinely dislike their music and find it irritating when it's on.
^^they never clicked with me as an album band either, as a singles band sure though
on an unrelated note, it takes me extremely long to get into overproduced albums. I was just ranking Prince albums in another thread and this is why his self produced debut "For You" ended up in the penultimate spot. It's a solid album but it took me years to find the songs beneath the production. Another example, it took me four years to get into Boston. Tom Scholz from Boston is another one of those guys who produces 'to perfection'. This is why I'm wary of Mutt Lange producer credits on classic rock albums too. I still haven't gotten into Def Leppard for these reasons.
You pair of creeps lol who tf doesn't like The Beatles?
I think they deserve pretty much all the praise they get. Those songs (and albums) are going to live forever.
Alan Partridge*: I like all the bands. I've got a broad taste, you know, from the Britpop bands, like UB40, Def Leppard, right back to classic rock, like Wings. Ben : Who's Wings?
Alan Partridge :*They're only the band The Beatles could have been.
lol that's a great bit.
I think Macca is turning 80 either today or tomorrow, there's a profile on it in today's newspaper I have yet to read. The headline says he doesn't know how to read musical annotation (it's along the lines of '10 things you don't know about ...'), gotta say I'm a bit surprised
I like McCartneys goofy solo albums and Wings tbh. Lennon solo doesn't do much for me.
lol, lennon solo is the only beatles stuff i can tolerate - always liked this album
^^They are embarking on a joint tour with Motley Crue (2years in the making due to Covid). Ultimate Classic Rock has a roundtable article on expected setlists up right now
'The Dirt', based on the book, is up on Netflix and there's an accompanying soundtrack for sale which includes some of the earlier songs
Def Leppard has a new album out with, from what I read, some rockers but also some country (!) songs
unrelated but Scorpions have a new album out since February and apparently it's really good
