LOL u like anything rza does.
If Rza had an orgasm on the track it would be a classic to you lol.
I think the album is average. I liked the lyrics...but the beats were too hit or miss for me. I loved some of the beats like Gun Will Go, Weak Spot, Rushing Elephants, and Windmill. I thought Campfire and Take it Back were alright...and I hated the rest of the beats.
I still think it's slightly better then Iron Flag though...I hated that album.
This album basically suffered from OVER-production. RZA was just trying too hard to create a new sound...and if you combine that with the obvious emailed verses and lack of unity, this entire album seems like it was forced, IMO.
Get Them Out Your Way Pa = Most underrated Wu track in the past 5 years
I agree with this...the engineering is top-notch.
I think "musically" it's a masterpiece.
"Wu-Tang Forever" is untouchable.
But "8-Diagrams" is dope in both the beats and lyrics department
Some of the sickest new wave beats I've heard
I applaude RZA for bringing something new to the table...
I've said it before and I'll say it again :
"We Ran Through That Chamber Dun"
--Raekwon
This to me proves how narrow minded people can be.
I like evolution, change in an artist.
This is what seperates the Professionals from the Virtuosos.
I'm white and I love it...And I only listen to Hip-Hop
Nothing else what so ever.
I'm interested to see why you think that though Hollow ?
Is Geezy & Weezy lame black boy shit ?
Why do you think this,is it because it has structure and order throughout ?
Meaning it's too polished and not raw enough for you ?
The Wu-Tang sound is there in my opinion...it's just a new chamber.
The beats are definatly not the problem for me with the album
The only thing I find it looses points for is too many 3-man tracks
When you are a Clan, you should use that to your advantage.
by the way hollow. i used to have the same opinion as you about the whole people that like rock like 8 diagrams, but i was proven wrong. check out this poll that i did last year. you actually posted in it too. it seems that hip-hop heads only and rock lovers both like 8D.
http://www.wutang-corp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49700
With an album as "different" as 8 diagrams, you are bound to have a wide range of opinions, all of which are equally as valid.
Nobody can label something completely subjective like music, art, food, beauty, whatever, as it is all in the eye of the beholder.
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Everyone's opinions are equally as valid.
Except for the French.
its been said and i'll say it again... theres HIP HOP and theres WU TANG.
if you know what good music is, after you listen to 8D, you can tell RZA put his heart and soul into it cuz hes reppin for the rest of 7 niggaz... he aint sling that spontaneous Bob Digi type shit in it at all, even SUNLIGHT tho its a RZA dolo the production has Wu written all over it. it aint even debatable, Digi Snacks may i say this.. WACK compared to 8D and both albums were dominantly RZA produced album.
i guess yall wanted more of the 90s sound since it was the first RZA steered album since IF but if you feel its weak cuz it lacked a 'hip hop feel' yall buggin.
i don't have a problem with somebody not liking 8D, but the people who don't like it, seem to have a problem with me. sorry, i don't think 36 chambers is the greatest album in the world anymore. it just sounds so dated to me. i like 8 diagrams, i'm sorry. i apologize. is there a rehab i can go to so i can cure myself. speaking of rehab, i wasn't a big fan of big doe rehab. please kill me.
i just think that it's funny that people shit on rza for this album because it is new and experimental and they don't like that... well wasn't 36 chambers new and experimental? wasn't OB4CL new and experimental? wasn't wu-forever new and experimental? wasn't bobby digital new and experimental?
^^ i really dont know if ur joking right now or if ur serious, idk
but IMO, Wucorp Army Mixtape >>> >>> >>> 8d (no joke)
because i really dont care if its...
...cos if i wanna listen to music i listen to fukkin Beethoven or some shit and not Wu-Tang
i mean theres hundreds of ways to create a new chamber, why does it have to be the slow/boring/soft chamber?????
different, smifferent
people liked it or hated it because of how it sounded in their ears.
most people here on both sides of this argument love bobby digital in stereo and wu-tang forever. both which sounded nothing like those mid 90s wu albums. the W sounded a whole lot like like 90s wu and a good number of people dont like it.
people didnt like 8D because it didnt sound good...simple and plain.
i am serious. if i had to guess, wu-tang forever passed up 36 chambers probably around the year 2000 for me. i still like 36 chambers, but it just sounds dated. wu-forever does not. it is timeless. if you are a rap fan and never heard 36 chambers before, and i played any one of the songs off of 36 chambers, you would know that it was from 1993 or 1994. but if i played you a song off of wu-forever, any one of those songs could be from 95 up til today.
and for whatever reason, i like 8 diagrams better than wu-forever now. maybe that will change in a few years. but if i had to put my top 13 songs from forever up against the 13 on 8D, wu-forever would win.
In Stereo & Forever actually DID have the 90s sound, LATE 90s sound. there werent too much 'experimental' sounds being used. it was just more of a mature RZA sound as he WAS gettin mature with his knowledge of gear and music in general. its just that he was mostly inclined with the HIP HOP sound.
i can't argue you guys if you say you don't like it, but if you keep saying they aren't hip hop beats, you don't know what you are talking about. they just happen to be hip-hop beats you don't like, and emperors raekwon and ghostface told you not to like them because there were some guitars, so you say it's not hip hop
first 6 albums meaning 36 Chambers & the first wave of solos [5] ?
of course FOREVER and IN STEREO is gonna sound different from them, we talkin about a MAJOR SOPHOMORE GROUP ALBUM which at the time was hyped as much or bigger than PAC's ALL EYEZ ON ME also the fact that FOREVER was a double LP in hip hop only 2nd to ALL EYEZ ON ME. of course its gonna sound different than the first 5 solos. actually, to me it didnt sound all that different, it was much better crafted but not all that different.
and IN STEREO, its an ALTER EGO LP from the mastermind of the clan its intended to have a different sound to it with the whole digital concept. even still it had that RZA sound that was relevant in that era.
36 chambers, tical and return to the 36 sounded like nothing ever before it.
liquid swords, ob4cl and ironman sounded didn't sound like the previous 3
wu-forever, the pillage and pick sickle shovel didn't sound like any of the previous 6
bobby digital, didn't sound like any of those
supreme clientele and bulletproof wallets didn't sound like any of those.
and so on...rza is constantly evolving. i for some reason like it, most of you don't. but don't act like this is the first time rza changed his style. he is constantly changing.
Where is the grimey shit on this album? I don't think everything is bad I'm not closed minded. If you look at my 8 Diagrams Review I gave out some good ratings. But Overall this does not cut it. Geezy & Weezy are Lame black shit I agree. I understand growing as an artist and going through new chambers but you can obviously hear the lack of effort on this album. No chemistry in some tracks.... This is just an above average album, nothing more.
"36 Chambers" is the definition of Grimey...As is "The W"
Look at "Iron Flag" tha's not grimey either and to me that is a great prelude to "8-Diagrams"
The sound has developed and changed dramatically.
"Gun Will Go" & "Campfire" are perhaps the grimest tracks on there...
But still maintains that "Polished" sound.
Like others have said...each album is completly differnt from the last and next...
"Hellz Wind Staff" is possibly my favourite Wu track ever...
But to compare a grimey/dark posse track to an album
That boasts Grandmaster Production, is pretty pointless and unjust in my opinion.
RZA's production on there is ill no doubt...
But obviously doing soundtracks and the time inbetween the 2 albums is huge
He has grown in this area.
Like I said, RZA went beyond a Professional and became a Virtuoso.
It takes vision and guts to do this.
And "Windmill" can touch "Hellz Wind Staff" in my opinion.
"8-Diagrams" holds things "Wu-Forever" does not and vise versa.
I don't know man I just can't get into it. But I do think Rza is doing a better job with these Afro Samurai Soundtracks than Digi Snax and 8 Diagrams. All 4 of those albums I just mentioned, shows Rza's new sound. But I think The Afro Samurai IS the right spot Rza's trying to hit. If he can perfect those beats he's going places. His lyrics need work unfortunately.
And thats fine.
I agree about the Afro Samurai Soundtrack -
"8-Diagrams" is so new and fresh it should be in it's own genre.
But the Afro joint : I think because it has a theme to work too...
You can get a pretty good idea of whats comming.
And being that there are alot of Killa Beez on the project
It has that Bobby Digital layout minus the persona
(although there is a track with Bobby if I'm not mistaken)
I'd say the majority of the Killa Beez would simply not be ready for the production
Thats on "8-Diagrams" just like how I can't imagine anyone doing justice to the beats on
"The Holocaust" that Blue Sky Black Death laced...
I'm guessing RZA thought the Clan were ready and experienced enough for it to work
And in my opinion it did.
Well 8 Diagrams has it's hits and misses. I think the fact that niggaz have been waiting soooo Long for that grimey clan shit and it's not there on this album. Cuban Linx 2.
Thats exactly what RZA said in an interview I belive.
"We Already Made A Grimey Street Album...Cuban Linx 2
So I Got That Out My System And Wanted To Do Something Different"
Something along those lines anyway^
02. Take It Back
Ok, this joint is smooth-hard hitter right here, Beat drops and Raekwon just goes in and murks the beat, nothing more to ask for he proves he still is a heavyweight on the mic. Next up is Inspectah Deck and he rips it aswell, the hook is simple but just right for this type of track and after that Ghostface just goes in again, my favorite line is "We Like Rebelled Niggaz Powered Up Wilding In The Streets Of Nigeria" he easily took it with that line, and next up is what we've all been waiting for, you have U-God who just dropped one of the weakest Wu releases of all time (Mr. Xcitement) we have to hope he doesn't come weak, but when he comes in he just rips this shit with no problem, he shuts all his critics up and tears this beat to shreds. This without a doubt is one of the high points of the album. 5/503. Get Them Out Ya Way Pa
When I first heard this joint I was like Wtf? But Meth comes in and spits some Ill dartz and they are hard without a doubt, the hook is just right nothing too special here, then U-God goes in, I must say I'm really feeling his verse on here very quotable, he's just flowing spitting ill dartz, he comes off flawless on this joint. I don't like how Masta Killa comes in with all those sound effects, but nevertheless he still delivers on his part and doesn't kill the flow of the track. 4.5/504. Rushing Elephants
Ok, this joint right here, you can tell this is going to be a banger, and Raekwon just takes the torch and goes in with it, Lyrics are on point, I really don't know why ya'll hatin on him, when he's on the majority of your favorite tracks, I must admit Gza is aight on here, I'm not really excited about his verse, I was more like Ok, next verse, and Rza when I first this joint sounded so wack, but as I started to listen it still sound kind of shakey but aiight, he had an average verse on this joint, Masta Killa saves the track and spits, but it sounds like something I've heard before, it's all good, still a banger, nothing more nothing less. 4/508. Gun Will Go (ft. Sunny Valentine)
Yeah, I slept on this track, this is some smooth criminal shit, and RAEKWON kills this shit again, whole verse is quotable and I'm feeling the hook on this joint, he does a good job (Sunny Valentine) Method Man ripped this shit aswell, he should've came this hard on 4:21 on some real, Masta Killa comes in accompanied by another beat switch up, but this times it's right and he goes in, I love how he starts his verse off during the switch up, this was a winning track right here, and Sunny goes in aswell LOL. 5/512. Windmill
The Beat on this track is right, RAEKWON kills this shit again, flawless with the lyrics on here, he did his thing, Gza came correct on this joint aswell, I was actually into his verse, had some nice dartz, Masta Killa rips this shit to shreds aswell, this is going good, Inspectah Deck went in on here flow and lyrically, I was definitely feeling his verse, then Method Man comes in, I wasn't expecting him at all but he makes a statement on here, then Cappadonna comes in and just kills the momentum, verse was shitty, could've been left of for sure, besides that, a great track. 4.5/5
13. Weak Spot
Yo This is my shit right here, I first heard the strings I'm like oh shit, Rza killed this track i must say, he's spitting some ill shit and I'm definitely think 5 star immediately, RAEKWON just comes in and takes over this track, "running through the city like you batman, still you so pussy like catwoman" LOL killed that shit man, Gza couldn't even follow up to that, he still came correct though, but after the Raekwon verse you still like damn. Gza came right though, Beat is on point aswell. 5/5
These the only cuts I'm feeling.
Man, do I really need to explain this?
Has man grows older his metabolism tends to slow down, his expriences make him less impulsive and more reflective. This tends to produce a type of art that even their young self would not have thought of producing.
It's the normal evolution of any man and thus any artist.
This being said, the energy is more compressed and emotional, and less "jump up, jump up and get down".
Grow up, Rino.
Windmill comparable to Hell Wind Staff? What!? This is on the same level....
[Verse One: Street Life]
So get your egg crashed, by my Hellz Wind Staff
While the feature broadcast is splashed to tell the news
like Kaity Chung, how the bullet collapsed his lung
His father watched the horror as he swallowed his tongue
Another youth dead, before the age of twenty-one
Left his son to grow, in the ghettoes of the slums
With a shot that go, for twisted metal for cash flow
React slow nigga and get, P.L.O.
By the lone gunner, who took revenge for his brother
who got slain last summer by a cocaine runner
A new year is dawning, new crews is forming
Rival gangs warring blood steadily pouring
The streets are deep Son every day is like a rerun
So I reach out and try to teach one
But eighty-five percent uncivilized content
No tolerance so a lifetime is spent
behind a cage bent smoked out on a park bench
Killer instinct slave rap niggaz get lynched
[Verse Two: Ghostface Killah]
So yo break that nigga arm fast as a fuck
Tell Ra, Goldie left my beige jacket in his truck
To all you slow footed penguins, duckin from these
hot rocks that's flamin, chocolate for all you rap Damian's
Spraying cards ex-pionage, dodgeball square hard
Strip bars, no bras, wet leotards
and a mink in, next album blood on Seth Abram
Keep a Gambino PlayStation in your playpen
Discovery Channel, cats that book at Daniel
Coke blunts hot as a FUCK swatted bamboo
high school dropouts, baseheads get knocked the fuck out
on the regular for robbin a good nigga house
Rough cut raw doses, the unexplainable
Hot rock lava, gringo throw the flows iglasa
[Verse Three: Inspectah Deck]
Ha ha ha ha, yo
What you know about this, specialist armed dangerous
Hit you close range with this madness
Unique design shine like a deep dish
The beat kick technique split all your weak shit
Yes, the rhythm, the Rebel
Alone in my level heat it up past the boiling point of metal
Living legend, veteran known to set trend
Lethal weapon, step through your section
with the Force like Luke Skywalker
Rhyme author, orchestrate mind torture
Live performer, bit the mic sayanora
Borderline to insane, I rain firewater
Tape recorder, can't be saved by a court order
I got my sword cross your throat you joke
[Verse Four: Method Man]
We on the run with the golden guns, get you none
when it reach out and teach someone, blaze they buns
Now I'm guilty by association
Times of blackness eclipsin the sun, target practice
commence when I throw these darts at these rappers
Ricochet, hit the charts, bloody your matress
Hold me down, Wu bloodkin, I'm goin in
Shootin bullets at the top ten, rhyme concoction
blend like a million
All these niggaz want cheese, is we mice or men, word up
We can go platinum but then, still can't get no satisfaction
Once again, back on the block crumb snatchin
Blowin backs in cold
Blunted non-assassin, time for action, Johnny Unidas
Handle that like arthritis
Still, hold a golden touch like King Midas
[Verse Five: RZA]
Drown in problems the Heineken's imported from Holland
Gettin boosted off a killer bee pollen, stone columns
get trapped by drum tracks mac loud as gun claps
Pen'll grab the death of a thousand dumb tacks
The Wu Sensai fold, it beez the Wind Ninja scroll
Soul edged blade controls your inner pole
The thick loop, fruit from the forbidden tree root
I stay secluded in the Chamber trainin new recruits
with Fatal Guillotine, the black hooded team what it means
when bullets scream from the hot glock like rock from a sling
("Sometimes...") Pushed through like George Bush Operation Whoops
Shots get popped on the block cause them blood to gush
>From digital to analog, the Wu-Wear camoflogue
The entourage squad we stompin through Zanzibar
like herds of cattle, RZA plays the wall like a shadow
Connect the Book of Shaolin like the brothers I know Now Rule
[Verse Six: Raekwon the Chef]
Stash the cream though, Iceatollah ice style gleama
Lex graffiti name reamer, hold em we rollin
askin me though, raps is hotter than, hot tamales in Toledo
Pussy that shit she passin off to me though
We wax Ajax niggaz with a axe, Maxamill
You could crash a meal, got you back steel
scold em and fold em like the thousand dollar bills
sit back eyein y'all niggaz out
Fakes that delegate we spittin fire out
Verb burgular, design the Wally shoe store reserve
a jet status, guidin these vert up on my matress
Watch me mack this, Ralph Lauren goose inside a fashion
Yo, these hands is flooded and they mad quick
Strong approach like magnets, custom wood crane name
Stylin rich, RZA made the waves in one chain
Feelin mics like, wheelin a bike, slide like
step on his Klondike, get your dart right
We movin on it like, wind breaker niggaz get they face broke
Jury get snatched, magazine right on the low, fuck y'all cats
to THIS? (not 2 mention MKs verse is recycled)
[Raekwon]
Aiyo, jump out the Acura, crazy heavy, what's popping?
Us locking the game, word to every hand on the lockmen
Street gwop, everybody eats, sweep blocks
This is a message, ain't go no grams, we gon' beatbox
Study like lessons, niggaz in the game biting the grain
You knowing where it came from, stop it
You thought we wasn't coming? You dumbing, you blunted again
Watch Lex get that dough out ya pocket, rhyme all 'pallegic
Can't nothing move when I rhyme, when I drop lines it's law out in Egypt
Love ups, don't need no batteries now, what?
The only niggaz that'll glow'll be us
Yo, throw me in Sin City, leave me with the vultures and bats
Then give me two weeks to bubble like Kim titties
Dirt Dog, we miss you, now it's time to murder the game
Cuz if things change, you know it ain't against Wu
[Genius]
We keep it hot, keep the heat on the block
We never stop, drawing water up until it begin to drop
Raining with the patchwork of puzzles
That was written in the year of the dragon
More raw than you could ever imagine
How much of a great blessing to a rap city
Where the youth is organically fed, from the Witty
Unpredictable, Talent And Natural Game is lyrical
Analyze the picture, the portrait, the visual
A Cuban Link Chef cooks spaghetti that's untied
RAGU nigga whose tomatoes are sundried
He gave y'all niggaz whiplash from bling bling
But my rhyme'll give ya hot flash and moodswings
Math shed light on divine secrets, then science leaked it
For the lower level creatures that can't peep it
I observe MC's, regardless
From a neighboring world which is ten times the sharpness...
[Masta Killa]
Let the track wind and ya mind flow free
Remain conscious on this ride to ya best ability
Infinity, back to the source of which it came
Energy, see it change forms, atoms being born, never ending
On and on and on and, travel with me
Not trying to convince the pack, that it's a fact
For those who can't adapt, I lived it, shitted it back
We have agreed, you'll feel the impact of the truth when I'll squeeze
The brain feels something pop, hip hop, locked in texts
Fat checks, fly whips, jewelry, chicks
Enough kicks, fitted crown, buttoned down
Underneath the white T lies the four pound
This is forty-five minutes of menacing
Dismantling, any MC opponent stepping in the zone
Get ya face blown (Get ya face blown)
[Inspectah Deck]
Observe the word, when I speak, get the truth's heard
True to the curb, Wu classic is the new birth
Spreading the blessing across seven continents
Arm of the trench, there's no form of defense
Entertainment, nine swords swing rapid
Check the techniques, first bow to The Abbott
Witty Unpredictable, gritty individual
Valid, if it's Actual, Talent and it's Natural
Game, rugged like the train, pump it in ya vein
I and I ride or die under the name
W-U, the primary, ya secondary
Definitely not necessary, the legendary
You printed the blueprints to do this shit
Moving the youth in the bricks
Spit poison tipped darts that rip hearts
Through the chest, when I manifest my sick art
[Method Man]
Speaking my mind, fall in line when I spit mine
Still in my prime, still'll shine til it quit time
If this is a crime, find me guilty, I'm so sublime
So rapid with rhymes, same slacking is assonine
Revealing the truth, catching feelings, it's still the Wu
Gorilla the booth, body armored, them killa proof
In living proof, I'm the Wittiest Unpredictable
Most Talented rap muthafucker you ever listened to
[Cappadonna]
I'm a hustler, I grind til my pack is done
Give a seed, mad knowledge til they cracked and run
Can't nobody fuck with me, I'm just too nice
Smack niggas in they head everytime I write
Yo, I'm straight from Park Hill where the guns is popping
Where them little black kids do they grocery shopping
Go to school fucked up, it's Africa Island
We poor in the bricks but inside it's nothing but talent
