This album is still crazy til this day...Ticalllll
Gets 5/5 from me
this shit is def classic you hear meth spit on i get my thing in action? shit was crazy
superior!
Classic, second favorie wu solo LP after Liquid Swords.
Masterpiece...I never grow tired of this album!!
The real Review!
1.Tical
Karate intro is just so nice. Beat is RAW, the bass on here is crazy and the hook is nice. Method Man spits raw on here, straight hip-hop, preview of the whole album, this is that Wu-Sound straight from the gutter. 5/5
2.Biscuits
I love this beat, but I can barely hear the lyrics on here. Beat is real raw, "Yo momma don't wear no draws"! Method Man is straight raw on this joint, I wish it was better mastered though, it's still grimy though. 5/5
3.Bring The Pain
I don't even have to review this right here. 5/5
4.All I Need
This is an ill track no doubt, beat is raw and Meth is spitting some ill shit about women, keeping it hood. I must say I like the remix better though, Mary J. on the hook is just crazy and the beat is not as raw but Raw enough. 4.5/5
5.What the Blood Clot
Straight Raw! Method Man going hard on this whole joint with no hook, that's what I like. Beat is hard as fuck, I love the shoutouts at the end and O.D.B. is funny as hell fucking with a napkin on his dick lol. 5/5
6.Meth vs. Chef
Aww man this is some ill battle type shit. Meth vs Chef is probably some real shit, I heard they did battle for tracks back in the day. I think Meth took this one, especially towards the end "a nigga up, with all the dangerous diseases
Sniffling sneezing coughing aching stuffy head fever
Fucker, I think it's bout time that you suffer
Bobbin on my nob like an all day sucker... Bitch!" that shit was ill right there. Raekwon came hard on this one too, that's why the track is so ill. 5/5
7.Sub Crazy
The beat on here is crazy, Method Man is ill on here, the whole album is fucking raw man "Word up, our niggas is strapped, ready for war on the ill block
Things just ain't peace no more, fuck it
If you ain't with me then forget me
Niggas try to stick me, retaliation, no hesitation, shifty
Creepin niggas in the dark, triggas with no heart
Rippin ass apart, I'll be swimmin with the sharks now
Stay out my water or it's manslaughter
Kid, you oughta start reachin for that nickle-plated auto-
Matic, my thoughts get sporadic, loaded raps
Bustin mad shots to ya attic
They say this hazard, this flows a hazard
Straight from Hazard County with a bounty on his head, and it said
"Wanted Dead or Alive," I swear by the whites of they eyes
To never take a dive I will survive".......5/5
8.Release Yo Delf'
This one right here had to grow on me, but with raw lyrics like "Shit's gettin deep in here, I mean thick
Niggaz lookin all in my face like they want dick
It's about to hit the fan, hit the flo'
That's all I can stands, and I can't stands no mo'
What is it? Niggaz think they bigga
Cause they got the finga on the trigga of a pistol
They don't know I'm wicked, when I start to kick it
With the raw sound, wash it down with a Mystic"...that's ill, then you have Blue Raspberry on the hook, with and ill beat what do you expect?? 5/5
9.P.L.O. Style
I like this calm beat right here, Method Man opens up Raw and then we see Carlton Fisk he's raw aswell, I love how they spitting bar for bar on this joint. 5/5
10.I Gets My thing In Action
Ill beat, it's kinda calm too which I love. Method Man Spittin i'll raw rhymes on here, I love the drums on this beat for real. 5/5
11.Mr.Sandman
This track is the reason Method Man is my favorite Member of the Wu-Tang Clan hands down for life. I heard this on My uncles Wu-Tang Killa Beez tape, the beat is just ill itself and the guest spots are crazy, you got RZArector on here who is ill on a lyrical tip more importantly the beat, then Inspectah Deck comes in ill "My hazardous thoughts cut the mics life support short" crazy shit BUT Method Man just goes in for the K.O. on some Marvel vs. Capcom shit "Hot time, summer in the city
My people represent, get busy
The heat-seeker, on a mission from Hell's kitchen
I gets in where I fits in for head-touchin, listen
My enemy, is the industry got me flippin
I don't give a fuck tell that bitch and a nigga
I'm killin, snipin, catchin murder cases
Desert Storm-in, I be searchin for oasis
As I run a mile with erasers
Pullin, swords, hit the Billboard with a bullet
Peace to the number seven
Everybody else get the fo'-nine-three-eleven" his flow is raw on that shit Meth is just wild. Streetlife is on this joint too, but Carlton Fisk is the Icing on the Cake, he ends it off raw... "Niggaz said, "Carlton youse a ill motherfucker"
Cause I made it look like they both killed each other
And I'm out" The screaming on the track is ill too. 5/5
12.Stimulation
I wasn't really feeling this shit at first, my mom was and the more she asked me to play it the more I like it, this is some ill shit. I love the beat on here, Method Man just spitting real ill on here too. 5/5
13.Method Man (Remix)
Not as ill as the first but it's just as good. I love the flows and hype-ness Method Man brings on here. The beat is ill as fuck too, this whole album is just some raw shit, some of the best Wu Material on this disc. 5/5
Lyrics - 5/5
Beats - 5/5
Overall - 5/5
This Album was the beginning of the crazyness yet to come from solo acts in the clan, Meth started everything off real raw and grimey...... ****Overall 5/5**** ****Certified Wu-Classic****
Heh, nothing under the pure, raw, hardcore, classic hip-hop masterpiece....
when i first got it ...i'll be honest
i was dissapointed & i find that this record iz mastered poorly. Bass levels and treble levels are off especially on Biscuts .
but itz a classic or damn close.
i like 4:21 the best 4 some reason.
This has got to be the most over rated Wu album in my opinion.. this album has hardly any replay value for me.. i've had this album for quite sometime now and i've gone back to it about 5 times... this album does nothing for me except for songs like "Tical" "Bring Da Pain" and "All I Need".
nah man What The Blood Clot, Methvs.Chef ..P.L.O. Style are all ill joints too
classic album no doubt
"Bring The Pain" is almost as good if not just as classic and dope as "M-E-T-H-O-D Man"
Love the album
Yeah, I personally like "4:21" more
Either that or I didn't let "Tical" grow on me yet
dope.Production coulda been a lil better production wize but lyrically Meth came HARD on this shit.''What The Blood Clot" & "Mr. Sandman" wuzz my favz.
Sad that this album gets put on the back burner because it was the first solo from the clan....and shit only got better. who knew Rza had ob4cl, liquid sword, ironman ect up his sleeve.
Dope beats nice and gritty but the sound quality in certain songs are shitty.I actually love this style of production from rza on this album plus wit Blue ras singin on it,shit is classic wu. I gave it a banger rating though. This wasn't Mefs best lyrical output, though I think he got Rae in mef vs chef. 8/10***this album paved the way, very important album***
i liked it, the grimy beats fit method man nicely, and unexpectedly, i heard rza had to rush the production on this cuz he lost the original tapes or seomthing, anyone with info on that?
I voted subpar. Tical is easily the most overrated debut ever. far from a classic, average beats (RZA improved his shit later on), and the album bores the hell outta me, straight up.
My least favourite of the first 5. I think I read about the tapes getting lost in a flood.
one of my fav soloz frum wu.
In some ways, I think this album feels more cohesive than Cuban Linx.
Master piece no doubt!!!
It's a great album and still stands up today.
That whole vibe of the album played front to back is great, If you copped this around the time it came out you will consider this a classic but I can also understand how newer fans would pick this up and not really dig it that much.
Nearly 10 years later though and this album still retains it's dark atmosphere. At the time (94), Wu Tang had to deliver on their potential displayed on their debut and they did just that with this release. Had it been any longer, it would've suffered but the length is pretty much perfect. (saved for the tacked on unneeded Method Man remix)
My favorite wu solo release deffinetly up there with liquid swords and obfcl a classic for sure.
Anyone cop the new vinyl reissue of this album?
I never really got into Tical. The album is ok, but I think that the atmosphere/beats where to dark for meth (Beats would suit a rzarektah/gravediggaz album more IMO). Having said that I prefer meth on this vibe as opposed to the later stuff he released.
Mr sandman is that joint though.
There is a sameness to some of the beats, sounds like one thick bass heavy soup if that makes any sense. Many times I've tried to get into this album, but still some songs stick out and others don't.
I've always wondered whether the remaster was worth the purchase. Is there really a noticeable difference in sound? If so I'd buy it. I might appreciate the album more.
@zooruka : Mr Sandman is one of the illest Wu posse cuts for sure. The elusive Carlton Fisk shines on this one! He spits one of my favorite all time Killa Bee verses on here.
Bought the deluxe remaster after all, just listened for the first time. must say it was worth it, bass etc. is much clearer. can't really say though whether it would be worth it for many other people. I suffered some permanent hearing loss on low tones in my right ear in the early 2000s due to a diving accident and an album like 'Tical' has never sounded the same since. but the remaster comes much closer to the way I 'remember' the album back when I could hear everything, thanks to the polished up bass. I'm really enjoying this album again.
the deluxe edition's second disc contains 'The Riddler', all the official remixes to the singles and a remix of 'Wings of the Morning'. Nothing spectacular, but it still good to hear these goods in prime audio quality.
voted superior, 9/10
bangin album but if this is a 10/10 then shit like LS and OB4CL are like 15/10
This album is an 8/10 compared to all the Wu solos in context. The singles make it a worthy purchase and the first Wu Banger posse cut of the solos with "Mr. Sandman". Overall RZA knew what he was doing with the dark misty beats which complemented Meth's first time out enough to take him very serious. I always hated that the " All I Need" video was the Razor Sharp Remix with Mary J but the song was nowhere on the album. Always felt it should have been the bonus track and that Method Man Remix should have been on a 36 Chambers reissue. Nowadays we are getting exactly that but its still on Disc 2 while I still want it on the album at the end.
It has been twenty five years since this dropped. Infinitely grimy ambience on this album
26 years now. It just get even better with age.
Tical dropped thirty years ago today. Loved the lo fi sound on this
