It's more about lack of inspiration rather than age itself. When you're trying to blow up living in the ghetto it's easier (if you have talent) to write more captivating and interesting lyrics. If you're rich and nothing really inspires you anymore it's quite difficult to keep that sword sharp.

I dont agree. You just need to look at hip-hop as an art form. When an actor plays a role in a gangster movie you dont think it's corny unless the whole movie is corny. If a concept is right and it's done properly it can be a masterpiece.

On top of most of the tracks being mid, Ghost or whoever the fuck else adlibbing “supreme clientele” “supreme clientele 2” in half the songs was insanely cringe and made it feel even more like a mixtape

RZAs 2 beats for Awich that got released this year both shit on every single beat on this album. Fuck I am crashing out over how this album is hahaha

Historically, when was the the first time Ghost gave a verse objectively not up to his standards? I am seriously going to get to the bottom of this (pause). It is one of the great mysteries, how something like this can happen.

You know, I have to give credit that rappers like Ghost managed to make a career out of 90% talking about the same thing over and over, often not even that cleverly and let’s be honest: if you’re 55 and talking a bout murder, sex in an explicit gross way and just how amazing you are then that’s fucking cringe. In general though, even the guys who have seriously grown as human beings like Masta Killa, Meth and Redman, often do not allow their lyrics to reflect it.

His verse on Holocaust on In Stereo is absolutely fucking awful.

Can't think of anything noteably bad before that.

The Holocaust verse, wow that was early! But now that you mention it, I remember being disapointed back when I heard it. But I think I always blamed it on Ghost never should have been on that beat in the first place, a slow, cold rethread of Winter Warz. But ok, good catch.

I totally agree, BUT (pause): he is also the only rapper I know who had an entire song about the sun. About being underwater. About being angry at his watch, with a back and forth (pause) argument. About having a script for a biopic about Ray Charles stolen from him. Crying on songs. The selfproclaimed «I-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about-style» of Nutmeg. When did it go away?

Crying, you mean that thing he did on I Can’t Go to Sleep? I think that was just him using his whiny voice, but touche. I think he had a handful of those and earlier on was more real. Then he got lazy, fans just wanted the hardcore shit and that’s what made him $$$ so he gave us that. I think it’s a mix of complacency and the fans.

Honest question, why do you listen to Wu and hip hop if you're so sensitive and offended by everything? ODB must have made you run to therapy.

Don't get me wrong, Ghost's verse on Projects not only ruins the song but is embarrassingly pathetic. And this is coming from someone who loved the 2 Live Crew... when I was 12. But to be so "offended" and distraught by words is just silly.

Should have named this Blue and Cream and that's it.

Now we have people trying to discredit Ghosts’ work in the past because they’re upset about the album. It’s the same LGBTQ+ members. Anyways I’m seeing mixed reactions to this album. The Casual Wu fans are enjoying this album. The Die Hard fans are not enjoying this album. I think the first half of the album is pretty solid and then it dips off towards the end. I will give this 2-3 more spins throughout the week.
