Wrestler Shawn Michaels takes in Game 5 of Penguins-Lightning
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are a great time of year to become a hockey fan. Ask wrestling legend Shawn Michaels.
Michaels, known during his longtime WWE career as “the Heartbreak Kid,” has found a foothold in the hockey community, specifically with the Pittsburgh Penguins’ dynamic trio of Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel, dubbed the “HBK” line.
For Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday, the unlikely relationship between the San Antonio-born Michaels, 50, and the 2015-16 Penguins reached the next stage when the former WWE champion ventured to Pittsburgh to see his namesake line in person for the first time.
The wrestling legend had himself quite a day, meeting a hockey legend before the the puck dropped:

Michaels also took a trip with former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel to Pittsburgh institution Primanti Brothers, where they enjoyed the newly introduced “HBK Sandwich,” triple-meat, with ham, bacon and kielbasa.
It wouldn't be a wonder if Michaels had to change his nickname to the Heartburn Kid before long.

i feel bad for people that watch NBA because that Pens/Lightning game was unbelievable.
Too close for comfort.
I hope Kessel (and Fleury) are off the team next year. Kessel is a one-way player and doesn't dig or skate for pucks if it ain't right on his stick. The other team looks like they're on the powerplay when he's on the ice and it's in the Pens end. Really wish they would swap Kessel out for Kunitz on the #1 powerplay line for his one-timer.
Who's the favorite to win the stanley cup?
Pens are a slight favorite. They have home-ice advantage.

It pisses me off that they start the games later now. Most playoff games in the East started with pre-game at 7pm EST and puck drop at 7:30pm EST. Now, it's 8pm EST pre-game and 8:30pm EST puck drop. Not sure if that's hurting ratings but even B-Ball games seem to be later to me.
if barry melrose would leave epsn, would they even mention hockey at all on there?
Vegas Golden Knights is the new expansion team.

Cats two losses in OT back to back after being unbeaten in them. Still two total points but man...this team needs to shape up. Huby will save us don't be stupid!
But the way we fired Gallant was so Marlins esque I hate that shit.
We have out shot teams though last few games, great to see for once in a while.
Love my BIG CATZ man.
Are the blue jackets the best team right now?
they sure are playing like it. i was in columbus 2 weeks ago and watched them beat the kings in OT. Two nights later, they crushed the Penguins. I'm glad i wasn't able to make that game.
Crosby 2 - Ovechkin 1 through 2 periods of this series.
even if you're not a big hockey fan, you should be watching this series. it's history in the making.
A long slump without a conference finals appearance has ended..
The Nashville Predators came into existence during the 1998-99 season, and things didn't start out so great. During the Predators' first five seasons, they finished each year with a points percentage below .500. Among teams that played in each season of that five-year span, the only ones with worse records than the Predators (.434) were the Lightning (.393) and the Islanders (.423).
In fact, the Predators’ playoff struggles included …
• Not winning a playoff series until 2011, the team's 12th season in the NHL.
• Posting five 100-point seasons and losing in the opening round in four of those years.
• Not winning a home playoff overtime game until 2016.
This was the Predators' fourth attempt to reach the conference finals. In each of the previous three instances in the second round, the Predators lost in five (in 2012 to the Coyotes), six (in 2011 to the Canucks) and seven games (in 2016 to the Sharks).
Entering this season, only the Islanders (1993) and Panthers (1996) had completed more seasons since their most recent conference finals appearance.
According to research by the Elias Sports Bureau, the 18 completed seasons before the Predators’ first conference finals appearance rank as the third-most before a franchise's first visit to the round before the Stanley Cup Final. The Arizona Coyotes played 32 seasons before the team reached the 2012 Western Conference Finals, and the Carolina Hurricanes played 23 seasons before they got to the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals.
The Coyotes (formerly the Winnipeg Jets) and Hurricanes (formerly the Hartford Whalers) each moved once before making a conference finals appearance.

Actually I’m a Bruins fan. They seem to be the team that I like to watch the most. I like Marchand. He’s feisty for a Frenchman.
The penguins are toast. Vegas is a tough expansion.
Everyone in Pittsburgh is rooting for Vegas. Marc Andre Fleury was a fan favorite and nobody wanted to see him go.

Seattle added as the 32 NHL team, for the 2021-2022 season.
go islanders!
The lightning picked a bad time to start losing games.
that's how hockey is, some of the best teams during the season suck in the playoffs for some reason. the penguins didn't deserve to even be in there though. pittsburgh's mayor is a loser also. who voted for that fool
i did not. however i met him and had my picture taken with him at a meeting. i'm a suburbanite now, so i have no say-so
on a side note, the mayor is allegedly a friend of Dorothy
Game 7. Can the Blues win their first stanley cup?
The Blues have done it.
They had removed NHL announcer Mike Milbury because he said that the players aren't distracted by any women in the bubble? What a bunch of pussies.
