kids need to be hit for doing wrong things, not beat but hit, spanked, a smack upside the head, whatver but it needs to happen.
Its a typical attitude of parents these days that hitting kids leads to violence which is retarded, and the fact kids can just say " ill call child services on you", if my kid even dares threaten that to me, my response will be "go ahead, you wont be alive when they get here, but by all means"
I believe parenting must be both stern and friendly. You can't just be your kid's friend. They need to respect you. No amount of punishment will earn respect. You must earn your kids respect and friendship. Punishment instills fear, fear leads to distrust. Your kid needs to trust you.
If (presuming I have kids in the future) my kid steals or something I'm not going to take away his allowance or tell him he can't hang out with his friends, I'm going to make him doing something long hard and unpleasent, and I'm going to do it right along side him.
You take a five from my wallet instead of asking? You're going to do a few hundred up downs and I'm going to be doing them right with you. If you stop I'm going to tell you that you're letting me down. Shame is always a better tool then anger. If I get mad at the kid he's gonna get mad right back, if i put shame in him the only one he's mad at is himself.
They finish in an hour exhausted and they've learned something, they also learned that im going to take responsibility for their actions and they have to as well. They don't want me to think poorly of them, and they don't want me to suffer because of their own foolishness. At the end I'd tell him good work and ill tell him to ask me for five dollars and ill give him those five dollars. Positive reinforcement at the end. It says "you did something wrong, but you took the punishment like a man and you're better for it." He's not going to do it again.
He acts out in school, we're going on a jog. A long jog, no breaks, water at the end. Military discipline. It's not about killing people its about taking responsibilty for your decisions and as a result doing what you're told and doing what's right.
I'm going to have my kids carry their own weight, get a job as soon as they can, play sports, eat healthy, read, and most importantly do well in school. I never developed a particularly competitive drive. I play sports as something to do, not to win. I want kids who want to win and put work into everything they do. But I don't want to hold them back from being a kid. They can hang out with friends go to parties have relationships, what have you, but they need to want to succeed.
I'm really smart, but I don't try in school, and I get Bs and Cs for every A. I don't want my kids to be valedictorians, but i want them to be up there. I want to give them the tools to look back and say "he made me the man i am"

their is a big diffrence between disciplining your kids and beating them, there not the same thing, if you beat your kids there gonna grow to dislike you and harden to you, if you don't discipline your kids, there most probably gonna become spoilt, disrespectful to you and uncontrollableQuote:

If somebody is at a low income level where it is hard to even support themselves, they should be smart enough not to be having kids anyway. Though, some do have a bunch of kids to exploit the system so they don't have to work at all(but that's besides the point). Around here, there are shopping centers close by to low income areas where people can easily walk or take the bus to go there for work. If a person is struggling to make it on their own, they could apply for some type of low income housing/rental assistance. Several of those housing assistance places could be in a bad neighborhood, but I'm sure there are ones that are in a decent or half decent place, which would be preferable.

So is it alright to live an entire life in poverty? Just work min. wage for life than die? If they continue at that job chances for them to get out of a hood is slim to none. Maybe selling drugs is there way to achieve the American Dream. I'm not condoning the selling of drugs, nor do I think anyone should do it, but I do see why some people do it is all I'm saying.
