Cam Newton
Resume (Rank in Quotes)
Air Yards With Drops: 1618 (6th)
Turnover Worthy Plays: 15 (17th)
Accuracy Percentage: 71.3 (21st)
Deep Accuracy Percentage: 45.0 (7th)
PFF Run Grade: +10.1 (1st)
PFF Season Rating: 78.7 (13th)
The Bottom Line
The Cam Newton MVP campaign feels very much like when Troy Smith won the Heisman for Ohio State back in 2006. His team is undefeated and he’s pulled them through a number of close games, but it’s obvious that his stats and performance aren’t close to the MVP level we’ve come to expect. Yet some aspects of Newton’s game can’t be summarized with statistics. He is the definition of a playmaker, creating big plays this year that no one else in the entire league could have pulled off.
However, there are flaws in his game we can quantify with statistics. Newton’s 21st-ranked accuracy percentage is an issue. Going over his games it’s surprising how many easy throws he continues to miss. Besides running the ball, there is nothing that Newton is doing at an elite level and he’s not ready to seriously hang with the big boys this season.

Carson Palmer
The Resume
Air Yards With Drops: 1961 (1st)
Turnover Worthy Plays: 14 (15th)
Accuracy Percentage: 73.7 (19th)
Deep Accuracy Percentage: 46.3 (6th)
Percentage of Yards Before the Catch: 65.1 (3rd)
PFF Season Rating: 97.7 (1st)
The Bottom Line
Easily the most effective downfield passer in the NFL. On targets between the hash marks from 10-20 yards down the field, Palmer is 41-46 for 662 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. Those are video game numbers that no one could foresee after Palmer missed most of 2014 with an ACL injury.
In his supposed “worst” game at Pittsburgh he still threw for 421 yards and had over 300 air yards with drops. Then there was his masterpiece over the weekend in Seattle where he threw for 363 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. A full 82.4 percent of his yards came before the catch and he lost out on 55 yards due to drops. What he’s doing in Arizona’s vertical passing offense is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. It’s just a shame that there’s one guy out there doing even more.

Shades of Barry Sanders....ever since Caldwell took over with a running game emphasis, they've basically turned him into a $25mil/yr run blocker
CJ is an unbelievable player & a class act but that talk of him catching Rice was nonsense....he's nowhere in JRs league let alone excellence & longevity
With one of the least productive seasons of his career this year. While the Lions wide receiver caught 88 passes for more than 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns, he only had two 100-yard games, and Detroit struggled as a team, which meant that Johnson didn't get much national spotlight. He’s still only 30, though, so better luck next season, right?
Hm. It doesn’t sound like it. Inexplicably, Johnson released a statement today that indicated that he might be thinking about retiring this offseason. Well, either that, or he’s trying to let the Lions know that he doesn’t want to play for them anymore. Here is his statement as well as a statement from the Lions:

He was a solid coach for the Bears. The Buccaneers have sucked for a while though.

LOL@Check Two and IronSheik hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Browns will always be a joke. Fuck them losers and Johnny Manziel needs to leave. Browns probably will get rid of him soon.
Fuck Tampa Bay for firing Lovie Smith. He was only there for 2 years right?
Stephen Smith talked about there's only 5 black head coaches in the NFL on First Take this week and he said there's 32 teams. That's sad and it's pathetic because it should be more black head coaches than that since the majority of NFL players are black LOL. Willie D made me laugh on If I Was White song when he said one million niggas in the NFL and not one black owner LOL. Stephen Smith said it's even worse in college football because there's less than 5 black head coaches.
The Eagles had scheduled & 2nd interview w/Gase who becomes the youngest HC in the NFL at 37

Shazier on the Steelers is a pussy.
Unbelievable ending, the Bengals are absolutely pathetic. Their head coach should be fired. Some of their players should get booted off the team.
^Marvin Lewis’ playoff record: 0-7. The worst from any head coach in NFL history...if that alone doesn't get u fired, i dunno what does!

Burfic only got suspended for three games, and Brady was going to get four games for a deflated ball?
LOL@IronSheik and Check Two hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Cincinnati and Minnesota should've won. Redskins are pathetic LOL. Check Two, I told you they were gonna lose. What you gotta say now about Kirk Cousins? Hahahahahahahahahaha. Houston is pathetic too and Brian Hoyer needs to be traded. I'm glad Cleveland got rid of him LOL.
damn they couldnt even wait around til they got their new stadium? It'll take 3 years for the Rams to play in their new Hollywood Park stadium
Chargers have 1 year to decide. Raiders have to wait and if the Chargers decide not to go they possibly can
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed today that a “long process” resulted in the decision to move the Rams to L.A. this year. It’s not clear yet where the Rams will play while their new stadium in Inglewood, California, is under construction, but the L.A. Memorial Coliseum — former home of the L.A. Raiders and current home of USC football — is the most likely venue.
“The NFL owners tonight approved the return of the Los Angeles Rams,” Goodell said. “Starting with the 2016 season. In 2019 they will be opening in a new stadium which we are all, as ownership, very excited about — the kind of facility that we believe will be extraordinarily successful in the Los Angeles market. It’s more than just a stadium, it’s an entertainment complex.”
Still to be decided is whether a second team will also move into the stadium. The Chargers may join the Rams in Los Angeles, and if the Chargers choose not to, the Raiders still could. This isn’t over, but the one thing we know is that the Rams are on the way to L.A.

Unless she cheated?
Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie has fathered 10 children, so it made plenty of sense when he decided to get a vasectomy, because 10 children is plenty of children. Today, we learned that not even a procedure that leaves most couples with a less than 1-percent chance of getting pregnant can stop the raw, life-giving power of Cromartie’s junk.
Cromartie’s wife, Terricka, is expecting twins. The couple announced the news to Us Weekly, and explained that they were just as shocked as everyone else is. Antonio and Terricka appear to be taking the news in stride:
Antonio, 31, was just as shocked. “Originally, he was like, ‘Oh, s—t! Are you serious? How did this happen?’” Terricka recalls. “It was shocking news for the both of us. It took me a while to process it, but Antonio stood firm and was saying, ‘It’s God’s will.’ And he’s been excited the whole time.”

- Former NFL running back Lawrence Phillips found dead in prison of suicide
Phillips was facing murder charges for killing his cellmate, 37-year-old Damion Soward, who was strangled to death at Kern Valley State Prison last April. He was charged with first-degree murder in September. The CDCR release said Phillips was in the early stages of his trial in Soward's death. Phillips had been serving 31 years for two separate incidents. In 2005 he twice choked his girlfriend. Later that year he attacked three teens with his car after a pickup football game. He was in prison for inflicting great bodily injury involving domestic violence, corporal injury to a spouse, false imprisonment and vehicle theft.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-sh...182813880.html
Phillips could have been one of the greatest backs to have ever played! He had it all - quickness, explosiveness, brute strength, etc. I remember watching him when he was a Cornhusker and thinking to myself that one day he would help a team win a super bowl. Man, was I wrong! What a waste of talent!! He was never able to temper that anger. I'll always remember him as a beast in man. And he went out the way he lived - violently.
when ur coaches give u the bye week off, bad things happen...he must have been the one who gave BeliCheat his black-eye for confronting him after the incident

FOXBORO, NE – On Sunday, New England Patriots’ pro-bowl defensive end Chandler Jones showed up at the Foxborough Police Department at 7:42 a.m. with a “medical emergency” in what turns out to be a weird and ‘something’s not right here’ type of story. After being evaluated by five officers who described him later as a “confused party”, he was transported to nearby Norwood Hospital shortly after 8 a.m., then released later that day. The story broke only yesterday by the Boston Herald.
Foxborough police initially denied that they had any dealings with Jones. However, the Boston Herald had obtained dispatch call records, which were later modified by someone within the department. According to Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary, the records were altered to remove medical information, and what he meant when he said that they had no dealings with Jones was that it was a medical matter, not a police matter.
The Patriots issued a statement on Tuesday. They admitted that Jones was taken to the hospital, but reassured fans that he reported to work on Monday and participated in all team activities.
So what the hell happened to Chandler Jones?
According to my source, Chandler walked into police station parking lot all jammed up shirtless and shoeless asking for help from policeWell, according to a police source who spoke to Chris Curtis of Boston sports radio station WEEI, Jones’ trip to the hospital was at least partially do to pills. Meanwhile, audio of the police dispatch obtained by Heavy has the officer who went to Jones’ house saying he was “definitely involved with Class D delta before this happened.” And class D drugs include marijuana, phenobarbital (sometimes used for sleep and anxiety), and isobutyl nitrite, which is found in “poppers” often taken recreationally before sex.
— Lou Merloni (@LouMerloni) January 13, 2016
WEEI’s Lou Merloni also presented a more detailed account of Chandler’s arrival at the police station:
Initially WEEI’s report claimed that Chandler Jones’ overdose occurred at the home of Patriots superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski. However, that detail was later removed.
Here’s the audio of the dispatch recording of when Jones found police..
And the proceeding fire dispatch audio..
As for what this will mean for Jones and the Patriots going forward, that will depend on what pills the Patriots’ sack leader was popping. If they are deemed to be “performance enhancing” he’ll be looking at a suspension. However, if this is just a case of substance abuse, and if it’s not a legal matter—for all we know Jones could have overdosed on over-the-counter sex pills—Jones would simply have to enter the NFL’s substance abuse program.

Though strange, the incident was apparently not too serious. He took part in Patriots practice the next day but was not available in the locker room as of today for media availability. The Patriots’ top pass rusher is expected to start and play in New England’s divisional playoff game against the Chiefs in Foxboro this Saturday.

Steelers are going to be the first team ever to play a post-season game without their leading rusher and receiver. They might also be without their leading passer as Roethlisberger is listed as questionable.
