I never had any expectations for it to be on par with the original, as that was a product of its time. They key component being RZA's presence on that album. Back then GFK and RZA had taken a trip to Africa together, the connection was palpable throughout the whole joint. The chemistry on The Grain and Nutmeg for instance. That's why I am really disappointed RZA is not on this sequel (at least a verse or two, if not beats), as he was a gargantuan influence on the original. It's not to be, as GFK does not want to acknowledge that SC was as much a RZA album as it was his solo. Hence SC being among the pantheon of the first-round of legendary 'solo' albums.
If anything, 'SC2' is a perfunctory suture-job of passable beats - that showcases how lucky we are that GFK didn't go on to Exec Produce a Clan album.
