Good ears, I can hear what you're talking about. I don't know of it is the Wendy Rene sample but it certainly sounds like it. It repeats throughout the song, you can hear it a bit better during Nathaniel's chorus

^^ Yeah that's a really good catch. It's very brief and really low in the mix but it could well be that sample. Don't think I would have ever noticed that if it hadn't been pointed out.
Peace!
Just had "Ron O'Neal" on n was sitting close to speaker. Definitely caught the vocal sample. It's from "Black Widow 2". Thanx because I too would probably not have picked up on this except maybe with headphones. Peace
^^ Yeah RZA used that same track for the samples in Tearz, Stimulation, Black Widow 2 and now Ron O'Neal too.
The original singer, Wendy Rene, just died three days ago. RIP.
Peace!
I always thought Deck produced black widow 2
^ Deck produced the first "Black Widow" on 'In Stereo', one of his best beats for sure
damn to this day i always assumed that was a RZA beat. one of my fav beats of all time
This album is wack. Necklace, Pioneer the frontier & 40th street black are the keepers. Retire. I'll always be happy with the clans legacy. We still have the classics to pop in. These dudes sound burnt out on the Mic and RZA has lost touch with his roots. Sad thing is Rza knows the Ringz project is probably 10x better therefore we won't hear it. Tricked him into making one copy. Lol
I tried to like it but i just cant listen to :
Miraclles
Never Give Up
ABT
Fam Reunion
minus those album is fine lol
I think it's dope.
40th street black/we will fight is so ill.
Preachers daughter sucks balls...it's so bad but the rest of the album is tight.
The title track is legit....when was the last time you heard Raekwon spit such a dope verse? With an actual flow and not just one big never ending bar? Probably molasses on Shaolin VS Wu Tang...but he's been pretty poor before and after the period....Gorgeous, his verse was dope...and the heart gently weeps was also incredible...my point is, rae is bad at choosing beats....but RZA can make him shit where is flow is on point. CL2 his best verses and flows were on RZA beats.
The skits on ABT are dope too...
Beat for pioneer the frontier is dope and necklace.
Drums throughout this album are ridiculous with the exception of the allah math beat.
U-GOD spits flames. INS would have been one of the GOAT if he got an album with decent beats.
I also enjoyed the album, the live instrumentation was a breath of fresh air in a world dominated by poppy music. I like the maturity of the album, that fact that they sounded like grown men spreading knowledge based on experience was a positive for me.
Rza definitely experimented with diferent sounds, but as they say "nothing risked, nothing gained". I appreciate going outside the box a bit, I mean thats what made 36 chambers such an iconic classic. While this is not any new experimentation, I enjoyed listening to the Wu mixed with some soul, funk and disney (lol).
Contrary to popular opinion I think "Miracle" was a good song, one of my favs on the album honestly. Especially the mixing they did with the vocals at the end of it, gave it a great feel right after Ghost's heartbreaking verse.
I did not enjoy "Preacher's Daughter", not saying the lyrics weren't on point but more the fact that I knew that these were 40+ year old men saying these things. Might grow on me later, but for now, no.
A great album overall, some duds, but thats to be expected. It definitely has a few months of replay value, and thats all I need from the Wu at this point in time.

Finally got this album in the post and bumped it last nite with a few beers. Only got as far as the second verse on Preachers Daughter but this was my first opinion on some if the tracks. The beat usually is what I notice first few times so the verses haven't stuck with me yet:
Ruckus In B-Minor : pretty dope track, drums are a bit annoying if they were toned down a little I would enjoy it more.
Felt : Can't really remember it
40th Street : I was expecting a train wreck, it's bit that bad, hook is pretty bad but the beat isn't awful
Mistaken Identity : Awful. I replayed this 3 times coz I heard people liking it and I couldn't understand why. That beat is fuckin awful wtf and the hook is really bad. Unlistenable coz of the beat IMO. Haven't really listened to the lyrics.
Hold The Heater : Now that's a dope beat. Song sounds pretty fuckin dope.
Crushed Egos : Another pretty dope track. Not as good as the previous but def a decent track.
Keep Watch : It's such a shame it had that gay singing coz the beat on this is a straight banger. The singing isn't as bad as I remember and doesn't ruin the song that much so I'll put up with it.
Miracle : What. The. Fuck. Once the rapping starts it's not bad at all but that is the gayest, over bearing, melodramatic singing i have ever heard on a hiphop album and almost makes the whole track unlistenable. What the fuck were they thinking.
Preachers Daughter : Yeah, pretty bad. Not terribly awful like Mistaken Identity but pretty bad.
I'll listen to the rest later. This is the most underwhelming Wu tang I have ever heard. Def sounds worse than 8 Diagrams IMO, at least on that you had Campfire, Rushing Elephants, Wolves, and a few others that are Wu bangers imo, Hold The Heater is the only one I've heard so far that might be a Wu banger.
