sad but true. if boxers were willing to fight the best than Paul williams would have a major fight
Too bad that Bernard Hopkins isn't fighting at 160. It would of been interesting to see him fight Paul Williams IMO.
Does anybody know where i can watch wright vs williams?
Looking forward to Cotto/Clottey this weekend. Hopefully Cotto can get back in the talks of the best lb for lb if he wins.
I have Cotto by UD.
pac man >cotto
cotto might have a tough fight on his hands
Miguel Cotto gave thousands of his fans exactly what they hoped for on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day parade.
Overcoming a cut from an accidental head butt in the third round and several brutal rounds with Joshua Clottey, Cotto fought to a narrow split decision Saturday night in a packed Madison Square Garden, retaining his World Boxing Organization welterweight title. With blood pouring down his face, Cotto, the pride of Caguas and the roughly 800,000 New Yorkers who trace their roots to Puerto Rico, threw his arms up at the end of a close bout that left the two battered.
Judge Don Trella scored the fight, 116-111, for Cotto. Judge John McKaie scored it, 115-112, also for Cotto. Judge Tom Miller scored it, 114-113, for Clottey.
Cotto even body slammed that african kid hahahahha damn yo!!! it was a good fight tho alot of boxing not much hugging and faggy behavior lol!

^^got robbed^^
I thought Clottey gave away the last two rounds and therefore the fight. It would have been a better fight if it wasn't for that nasty accidental headbutt. I give Cotto credit for taking this fight, I don't see Shane & Floyd calling out Clottey, and now you see why.
clottey did you get robbed, he didnt even took advantage of cotto's injuries, he could of knocked him out in the late rounds
and lets not be too happy about cotto's performance either, at one point he was just running away from clottey
I guess we'll have to wait longer for this:http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=4258073
i know what u mean...cotto was stealing almost every round by throwin flurries the last 15 seconds. cotto shoulda got in the ring with those usain bolt golden pumas tho. he IS the champ but he was running.
and lol @ clottey. how ur NOT gon get hit behind the head??? his head was bigger than the tv i was watchin the fight...literally.
I had Cotto winning by a point or two. Like said before, Clottey didn't really take advantage when he should have.
Pacquiao negotiating fight with Cotto for November 14. Pacman and PBF sure are making this dream match difficult ha, but if they can both get past Marquez and Cotto, this will definitely help boxing.
I think the only obstacle might be weight. If Cotto has to make a catch weight below 147 then he faces the same problem De la Hoya had. But at this point I think the fight gets made eventually. They have the same promoter, PBF injury means he can't fight any of these two this year, and I think Cotto & Pacman want a megafight of some kind before the year is over. Plus there's too much money involved not to happen though not on the level that PBF would bring.
Anyone seen yesterday's fight between Victor Ortiz and Maidana? Great fight for how short it lasted. There was 4 knockdowns in the first 2 rounds. The fight was pretty even to the 5th when Ortiz welted up and couldn't find a way to stop Maidana's right hand; doctor stopped fight in favor of Maidana.. Both of these boxers have some potential. Hopefully Ortiz could find a better trainer for the future.
^^I saw it. Victor Ortiz needs to learn 2 things before he fights again: 1. Throw a jab. 2. Body punching. He basically does neither. I feel for him he's been through a lot and seems to carry himself like a gentleman. He has good tools but needs a toolbox to work with IMO. But yeah a very entertaining fight, sort of like Transformers 2, LOL.
i saw it....they had been hyping Ortiz, but the Maidana kid looked alot tougher to me.
^^ Yea, they were hyping Ortiz as a "next" De la hoya in the future. But Ortiz had a loss & a draw already. To say the least, I think DLH was a MUCH better fighter than Ortiz at this point in their careers. Maybe the comparison was made to Ortiz bringing fans to boxing shows rather than fighting styles. Maidana was a tough dude indeed, great punch. Ortiz needed to box more & less brawling, Maidana wasn't hard to figure out.
de la hoya was a great fighter in his prime.
Im shocked by some of the hate he gets because he lost some fights when he was over the hill.
yo
ARTURO GATTI FOUND DEAD
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
dude was ill
the fuckin ward-gatti fights are legendary to me
r.i.p.
RIP Arturo Gatti, RIP Alexis Arguello.
R.I.P. Arturo Gatti
One of my favorite boxers. Always had entertaining fights, and he had as much heart as ANYONE in the ring.
They showing his fights on ESPNclassic all day today
Rip gatti! Came as a huge shock.
Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of his death soon
^Supposedly his wife strangled him to death with her purse when he was passed out drunk. The brazilian police said they are "certain" of this, although his wife is still trying to fight it. This was left off the early reports, but he had a knife wound to the back of his head as well.
floyd said he wont fight pacquiao for 50/50
and Arum insists the fight only goes forth if it is 50/50
I think if the fight does happen Floyd comes to his senses and takes the split. I agree with some of Floyd's points, but assuming both win their next fights there's just too much money to be made to not make it happen. Floyd has to realize that Pacman has stolen some of his thunder for the past year+. If I'm Pacman I'll tell Floyd that he can get 53% if Floyd wins and 47% if he loses. The best man gets the higher $$ & the P4P title. Just an idea.
I hope money is not the reason this fight never happens that just makes me mad that boxing is like that
Bradley > Glaxxxy by UD
Khan > Kotelenik by UD
Diaz > Malignaggi UD
Marquez > Floyd SD (call me crazy)
^^LOL, you're not crazy. It can happen. Remember Jermain Taylor beat Bernard Hopkins, Kelly Pavlik beat Jermain Taylor, Bernard Hopkins beat Kelly Pavlik. It would be funny if Marquez beats Floyd & Cotto beats Pacman. Boxing can be funny in that way sometimes. Remember Tyson vs. Buster Douglas. A sure win for Tyson, and look what happened.
They showing the Gatti v. Ward trilogy on HBO for the next couple of days. A great series, especially the first fight. I still believe Gatti should of won all those fights.
You crazy? Ward one the first no doubt due to point deduction on a round he was winning and a knockdown, which would add up to 2 extra points. Plus Ward definitly won 2 other rounds, so that'd be the equivilant to winning 6 10-9 rounds, although Gatti won more rounds.
ward won the first
gatti dominated the second
gatti won the third
great trilogy, and great warriors.
and Floyd isnt young or at peak level anymore, he wasted his peak years on big money fights and "retirement". i think floyd will beat marquez, too strong at welter, but a fighter like mosley at his best can beat floyd. DLH's composed pressure nearly beat PBF, but mosley is MUCH more conditioned that DLH, so i think mosley can outpunch mayweather
You irish? Ward was not winning the 4th round in which Gatti got a point deduction for the low blow. Having an energy burst for 20 seconds doesn't win the round.
Round 1 10-9 Gatti
Round 2 10-9 Gatti
Round 3 10-9 Gatti
Round 4 9-9 Even
Round 5 10-9 Ward
Round 6 10-9 Gatti
Round 7 10-9 Gatti
Round 8 10-9 Ward
Round 9 10-8 Ward
Round 10 10-9 Gatti
Final Score: 95-93 Gatti.
I'm not complaining because Ward was worthy of winning and it made for a great trilogy, but Ward only won a MD by 1 pt and 2 pts. Plus, didn't one judge score the final round 10-8 for Ward, when all the other judges had it 10-9 for Gatti?
It's official! Cotto vs. Pacman. Let the hype begin. Any predictions? LOL. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=4341913
pacman wins decisively.
cotto just doesnt have many advantages over pacquiao, and manny can hit hard, and the past tells us that cotto cant take a punch very well.
pacquiaos workrate will also be too much for miguel
