AMSTERDAM - José Mourinho is highly satisfied with his team's tour of Europe, which concluded Saturday evening with a 1-0 victory over Ajax in the closing match of the LG Amsterdam Tournament.
He said: "I'm very pleased with what the team did. In one week we have played against Bayern Munich, Sevilla and Ajax, winning two matches out of three, drawing one and, most importantly, not conceding any goals. The boys did very well.
"My compliments to all of them, but we can still improve a lot more. A good week's work has ended. The whole team was fantastic, both in training where I saw great enthusiasm, and in the matches.
"The boys tried to do exactly what I asked them to. They managed to improve something in every game. Now we have a whole week's work before the match with Benfica. Cordoba and Samuel are at a good point, they have already worked with the squad and they'll soon be back in full training. This is extremely positive for us.
"I'm very satisfied with the team's performance, but I'm also very happy for the 15 minutes Ibrahimovic played yesterday, and especially for the 55 minutes today. I hope I can use him for longer in Lisbon - at that stage he will be ready for the Super Cup clash with Roma."
On the outcome of the LG Amsterdam Tournament, Mourinho joked: "It wouldn't have been a drama if we had lost. This evening's victory isn't special. We should have played a final against Arsenal to see who should have won the tournament. They got more points thanks to the greater number of goals scored and this is why they finished in first place. (Smiles) Never mind, there wasn't another match to play..."
Mourinho concluded with words of praise for Adriano and Nicolas Burdisso, who gave another strong performance against Ajax. He said. "One name above all others for his performances in the recent games? Burdisso. He played three perfect matches with hardly any mistakes. I think the whole team agrees with me on this. Adriano? He did very well, both in Munich and here in Amsterdam. Physically he and Ibrahimovic are very strong and they are extremely technical players. With them on the pitch it's easy to play the kind of game I want."
If Mourinho is happy, so am I.
Inter was impressive. Effortless. Their defense is brutal with Materazzi and Samuel, Cordoba. Now with Adriano I think Inter have the best team in Europe at the moment.
Madrid president confirmed that Robinho is definitely not leaving this season Freddie Lungberg might be heading to a Serie A club according to his agent and Baptista's agent confirms that a deal has almost been finalised for his transfer from Real Madrid to Roma
Inter have had the best roster in Europe since the match-fixing scandal in Italy. The team jus didnt play to its potential under Mancini. Mourihno will do better, they look real good for the serie A. and one of the favourites for the Champs League.
Yeah, I just want them to win the champions League in this generation...damn, even the idiot Moratti deserves that... Mourinho has all the cards, even Adriano is back in form as it seems... I just hope for Quaresma to come through and it's on...
worst idea for roma. baptista is such shit in my opinion. hes the only brazilian that legit belongs in the epl the way he plays.
i read something freddie was going to roma actually, he'd fit in with their system well i think, if hes got anything left in the tank that is. roma should have went after cisse. a fast striker they could throw up top in a 1 forward system.
Initially Roma wanted Huntelaar from Ajax but they don't have that kind of money, guess they have to settle for who they can afford, according to Milan president Galliani Italian teams cannot compete financially with Spanish,English and German teams anymore
^^ only german team remotely close to competing with milan is bayern and our board won't splash out money ... they've done it ONCE and got ribery ... even toni was only 10million ...
lol inter ... i can't take them seriously they'll choke in the quarter finals again
hopefully brazil wins olympic gold its the only tourney which they never won
they have the squad to do it
and dungas job is on the line
argies vs brazil finals hands down
Ronaldihno use this olympics to bring his game back to where it should be. his played well for Brazil so far.
Argentina - Brazil looks like it will be the final. that would be a dope final.
dont want to jinx but you seen italy? rolling 6-0 total in there two games. little dude from juve is good, sebastian gionncovo (sp).
Tottenham 5 -0 AS Roma
