it deals entirely with the western ideal of a God, little to no mention of muslim faiths, but still this book is the cornerstone of intelligent scientific atheism. i think many people posting on this thread will find atleast some answers and explanations to the problems and inaccuracies of religion as a whole.

trying to convince other people that there's no such thing as god is one of the stupidest things an intelligent person has ever tried to do. dawkins would be better off convincing my dog it's irrational to bark everytime a car goes past.
i just think he sensationalises everything, in an attempt to make atheism appealing or some shit.
i dunno, he criticise religious fanatics, but is a fanatic in his own right.
i agree in principle with most of what he says, but its not as if these are new ideas.
his articulation and methods are questionable.

He's not talking about conditioning an animal against certain behavior. You can train a dog all you want, but you'll never convince one why it's irrational to bark at cars because they don't have the intelligence to comprehend that. Thus, his remark was basically saying that religious people are so set in their ways that preaching atheism to them is as pointless as trying to teach logic to an animal.Quote:
