Well if there is an afterlife and we don't cease to exist then that means there was something before as well.

I think you just plain old die. Our sensory organs cease to function so nothing "exists". You're just dead. Imagine not being able to see, hear, touch, move, think etc. or anything. It's the same as being dead.

How do you know that? Have you ever been dead?

I don't think it would be that simple, I mean think about it for a second can you picture not existing?

I think the thought of an afterlife was created because humans can't bare the idea that once you die, you just die...Same with god, humans need a higher power to look up because many humans are so weak & need guidance beyond themselves

I never said you cease to exist I said your body stops functioning. How can you still have a consciousness if your brain isn't alive to form your mind? How can you see without eyes? Move if your legs are dead? I feel it probably IS that simple, it's only people are afraid of the cold hard reality.

Who says that conscious dies with you? Who says that conscious cant take us somewhere else?

And you can see without eyes, hear without ears, and taste without a tongue, as long as that conscious exists all of this is possible.

as for the just die part, again it goes back to energy. since energy can never be destroyed neither can you. transferred somehow, yes. completely destroyed and gone, no.

I don't dispute energy is never destroyed, I don't think a conscsiousness or "self" "soul" or whatever you may call it continues after physical death. Every mental function comes from your physical brain, once that ceases to function, that's a wrap.

you have energy now, correct? if that energy can't be destroyed then something gotta happen to it. What that something is? who really knows but there's gotta be some kind of transfer of the energy that's within you now. The body is temporary. the energy isn't.

so even if the energy that's in your mind that creates your conscious or self or soul continued on after death (I don't believe that it does) it would dissipate or convert.
