I Tried To See It Earlier Today During The Afternoon They Were Sold Out So I Think I'm A Try Next Week
Just came back from watching it. Great movie but I did feel a bit underwhelmed. It was mostly small things that I didn't like about the film but I will be seeing this a couple more times to really get a better feel for it.
I think its going to be one of those movies you have to watch a few times to gain an appreciation for it.
this movie is fucking flames. 10/10. this shits on the new batman to me.
like really really good.
thouroughly enjoyed it...8/10
A masterpiece. 9.3/10
I loved it from beginning to the end. Roshaq (I think that how his name is spelled) was off the chain. I'll see it next Friday.:)
yeah, i'm going to see it again; rorshach was of course the highlight and captured the essence of the character, nite owl came across well also. manhattan's voice was kind of off-putting to me, i thought the calm monotone was fine, his voice was just too soft and slow to me. also, the fight scenes were too exaggerated, particularly when dan and laura faught the punks in the alleyway, and when they confronted ozymandias. using manhattan instead of the squid (though the s.q.u.i.d was a nice nod to it) is kind of dubious to me, i don't know that i buy that the world would be shocked into submission like that by manhattan, because he is a known quantity. a faux alien squid sending out a telepathic shockwave is so outside of human reality that it would legitimately be more shocking.
but those are minor complaints, there was much more about it that was absolutely brilliant; the opening credits was the best title sequence i think i've ever seen in a movie. and rorshach was awesome, that can't be overstated. and if it causes more people to read the novel then it's more than done it's job.
9/10
Average. The story is good, but do they really need to explain EVERYTHING 3-5 times. For a movie this long, it needed more action, less talk. The opening was deep (how they relate to main events in american history). The ending could've been better.
^^^i agree the ending seems rushed, the sequence of events from them busting rorschach out to the end of the film was too quick, what did you feel was overexplained?
************some spoilers***********
i liked his voice as is. he is so badass and he is so non human on another level a calm monotone voice devoid of emotion and or any need to sound threatening was spot on, to me.
i liked them using the doc as the thing that brought them all together. bringing the squid in would have been too out of left field for people that had'nt read the book. and it allows the doc to escape to do his own shit because he clearly is over earth. plus with as long as the movie already was if they put the squid in i think it would have been even longer. the movie was about at its cut off for length. anything more would have really been to much.
i agree with this review except for the fight scenes which i loved, for their ridiculousness....and though i think in terms of style the movie was brilliant...i got the feeling in my head that maybe Moore was right about not being able to film a watchmen movie....ill elaborate more later.
The fight scenes were a bit over the top. It was mainly the prison riot fight scene that I didn't like. Manhattans voice was good but like vay727 said, his voice was a bit too soft at times.
I can't believe I went and paid to see this movie.. I don't know what you guys seen in it. Way dissapointed. Only thing that wasn't a total flop was rorshach. I couldn't wait to get out of this show. That manhattan termit line was funny. To much penis shots not enough titty shots. The entertainment for me was to few and far in between. I think my IQ dropped after seeing this movie. I would rather watch a wall for 3 hours then see this again. I can't wait till May, good movies coming out then.
yeah, i think the average person watching the ads for this movie would be disappointed. they market it as an action movie, when the story is all about character development and interaction.
so i have been expecting the internet haters to really pick it apart and hate it. (they're haters behind a keyboard, thats what they do.)
